First off a few little tips for

Doing good rendered images isn't the same thing as improving quality for BC meshes, this means improved diffuse- and specular maps simply won't cut it. Try to add a little depth to your model with bump- or normalmapping, to to get the lighting interesting, a few white omnis may do the trick, but a multitude of lights to emphasize the light emitting bits and pieces of the mesh make it look much more real and, lastly, add some glows
