Connie interpretation
« on: May 15, 2008, 12:58:04 AM »
I made this today.  I didn't mean to, but I got the modeling bug and whipped it up.  Took about 12 hours so far.  It's nothing serious, but I think it looks okay.

C&C welcome.

But still, I feel the area around the deflector is a little too sleek for my tastes ;)

You're joking, right?

...and I kinda agree about the deflector, should help to enlarge it by a max of 25% if ya ask me.

yes the deflector definitely needs to be a bit bigger.
i'm not too fond of the saucer top either........just
looks a little too lopsided for my taste............
other than that looks awesome! i'd definitely
download it. :P

That is one brilliant ship. :D  Seriously, if CBS/Paramount ever decided to make another series...they should come see you about the ship design.

Oh yeah, what are those things on the top of the engines? Just curious...

That....is really nice.

I like everything....except the deflector.  First thing I thought before I scrolled down and read the rest of the thread.  It narrows at the front too much for my tastes, I see a few others have the same sentiment.  I can't believe that you can just do that in a day, I wish I could model half as well as that, at triple the time.

LOL you didn't mean too? You just sneezed it out?

I love it. It's brilliant. But I do agree about the deflector.
I get the feeling it's too round. Maybe curve it of with some hard edges?

This is freakin awesome!! I, too, agree about the deflector...but..alas...DJ, why not just take a stab at the actual Refit Connie..and see what happens? I think it would probably be the best connie ever.. and There is plenty of screen time for it and they never changed the model from ST1 to ST6 only the paint scheme slightly...

yeah, I've been humming and hawing over that deflector since I built it.  I'll probably make some changes to it.  I'm glad you guys like it.  The mesh is 100% clean and unified, and really it could be textured right-away if the urge were there.  If anyone's interested, just let me know, because it's not something I'll get to for a long time.  As you know, I've got probably 4 or 5 other unfinished ships on the go too.

I tried to give the deceiving perception that the engines were angled down a bit to make the ship look fast.  Though I'm not entirely happy with them.    It's not really a 25th century thing, it's not really anything, just playing around with the original design.  Maybe I'll play around with it a bit more today, however I'm also working on something else today, that you guys can keep your eyes open for.

lol, can anyone tell that I'm done university and an unemployed bum right now?  (hooray, I have a degree!  I is edumacated!)  Well, not technically unemployed, I got hired to teach Social Studies and Language Arts at a Junior High School out near my hometown, but of course, the school year doesnt start until September.  Ah, living off the wife, it`s the good life. :D

You've got the job Wiley.  I'll send the mesh to you when it's done.  Add me to your msn so we can get things worked out, my little msn button is right below my avatar.

Superb work DJ a nice and tidy mesh you have there. I really like the small sized deflector I always thought it was a bit too vulnerable on the Connie Refit. Great work, I think it's lookin great!!

Love the look of the ship. Sort of a re-imagined TMP Connie, whereas Gabe Koerner's is a re-imagined TOS Connie :D

Might I barge in and get the singlehandedly most boring job of mapping her?
