So I AM supposed to install Foundation?

That can't be right, because that's the same process I've been doing all along.

The readme says the following:
Do a clean install
(While it doesn't say it, I think it's better if you also install the v1.1 patch).
Install the Foundation.
Extract the BC_Prepare.bat from the Supermod zip file and place it your BC directory.
Run the bat file.
Follow the instructions on screen (pressing Enter)
Delete the bat file once it's done.
Then run BCSuperMod3.exe and follow the instructions.
I still can't read peoples minds, nor can I read peoples computers, even worse, I can't combine the two to read what is going wrong with your BC install...

I'm not really sure what else to say, since that's what I've been doing all along.

Perhaps the answer is an older version of Foundation maybe? Has anybody here installed the Supermod lately?

I will try installing it today. (Mind you, it will be much later today.) As for an older version of Foundation, that ought not to be a problem because supermod v3 includes it's own version and that's not the error we're seeing here.

You may wish to attempt to skip the step about installing Foundation.

Did you ever get a chance to give it a try?

I mean separate installs. I have: Custom, KM 1.0, KM 0.9.1, Core, SP, TAP, Halo, & 1.1 .

0 Errors, I was able to run the game from start, to the first save point (exiting drydock) without problems. Here's what I did:
  • Install a clean, 1.0 game to C:/Game/Bridge Commander/SP/
  • Install the 1.1 patch to C:Games/Bridge Commander/SP/
  • Download and install BCMI
  • Run BCMI and install Foundation (Yes I realize BCSMC has the Foundation in it, but it adds a few things as well, I only wanted Foundation, and the Foundation build that comes with BCMI)
  • Run the batch file installer
  • Realize that the batch file doesn't work outside of /Activison/Bridge Commander (I don't have this directory and the batch file stated it couldn't find the directory it was looking for.)
  • Manually delete the folders listed in the batch file installer
  • Install BC Supermod v3
  • Run BC once and toggle most of the settings to preferred settings and activate all mutators.
  • Close BC and edit options.cfg to run in widescreen
  • Run BC again, and start a SP campaign.
  • Close BC after saving and report here.
And there you have it.

Note: Vista 32-bit

Yay! I finally have a working game with a save! :)

Thanks!

(BCMI & BCMP?)
Don't install these, ever. BCSMC has the Foundation (now) so BCMP and BCMI can finally R.I.P.

So I'm guessing that's where we went wrong? At least you know I'm not crazy now. ;)

The one thing I didn't do was edit the config for widescreen. Well, I TRIED, but it killed the cfg, and I remembered I read somewhere here that I need a special text editor. Luckily I made a copy first!

My monitor is 1440x900. What should I do? I remember reading that widescreen doesn't really work right. Did somebody ever figure out how to get it to work perfectly?

Also, should I literally turn on all the mutators? I wasn't sure about "stock ships".

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to reinstall it! :)

:) No problem. Anyways, I have a 1440*900 and what you need to have in order to edit options.cfg is Notepad++ (don't worry it's free.) The normal notepad or wordpad doesn't work because it doesn;t handle the (null) characters properly (correct me if I'm wrong MLeo.) After that, all you need is to change the settings from 800*600 or whatever it is to 1280*720 (in my case) and run the game in fullscreen mode. As for BCSMC, I will admit that I had never installed Foundation from it when I spoke first, but I had installed it later and realized that it through in Ftech. And yes you need to activate ALL of the mutators. (Did I cover everything?)

No, unfortunately BC cannot output in 1440*900, however it can output close to that. I'm using 1280*720.

I tried 768 last night and it worked! The text looks kinda, I dunno, jaggy?

But, you can't have everything, I guess. Thanks!

(Next up, I'm going to ask what the hell all those installations of BC you have are for)

Most people have a modded copy, a copy for testing mods, and one for MP (Usually KM1.0, or the Stargate Pack, etc.)

Yeah, what Prime says. I have a copy that has all the mods and ship I could possibly want (SG pack, BSG Pack, pretty much everything, or it will be when I finish installing everything.) I have a copy with KM 1.0 and a copy of KM 0.9.1 for MP, a copy for my Halo mod development, they basically just serve different functions.
