I really... REALLY like the look of the saucer section of this ship!

I hope someone does that ship, cause it's unique and oddly sexy at the same time.

Well truth is, I hope someone does all the ships from it soon as it's released :P

*shudders*  No need for the enemy to shoot at the ship.  It's already got holes.

= less casualties ;) [although... does BC count 'holes' AS 'gaps' in the ship? - ie. if a phaser fired through it, will the ship be "damaged" or travel straight through? But of course if this wasn't BC we're talking about, but if it was the show itself...]

I think it matters how it's modelled.

the first developer that was working on ST:O bit to far and got themselves into some copyright trouble (AFAIK), so i can understand why Cryptic is making sure not to make that same mistake by creating more "unique and out-there" designs. thumbs up for the creativity

eh I don't remember that ever happening... THEY HAD many of the designers of the trek ships on their team....
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

yeah they had the full backing of CBS Paramount, what I had heard was they had a disagreement over the release date.  it had nothing to do with a copyright

No. A ship has already been made that has holes in the saucer, thoug i don't remember the name... It's there.

No, ST: Online.

Certainly a more sensible thread for a first time thread poster if you don't mind me saying.
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

But a ship with holes in the saucer section also exists for BC.. and when i tried it you could fire throug the "holes" without damageing the ship:

While interesting, the design seems illogical to me. You do'nt see planes with holes in them, lol.

Well, planes in an atmosphere needs to have a certain shape to be aerodynamic.
Spaceships don't need that. They can be all kinds of wacky shapes, like a cube or sphere. :P

Federation Ships are Aerodynamic incase they have to enter the planets atmosphere in case of a Emergency for landing, etc etc.

My mistake. Perpetual DID encounter legal trouble, but it was in no way related to ST:O. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_Online#Previous_development_version
