Could always consider July 4th as a "First wave". ;) You've done the fighter justice, that's for sure. Always liked how genuinely alien it looked. Can't wait to be swarmed by them!

The Alien Attackers and the City Destroyers are HPed. I think Tiqhud needs a cookie or two. :D I still have to play with shuttle launching.

Now that is pretty damn cool! How powerful is that beam?

Also, will be including high res textures for people who want to "make their graphics cards scream in agony, lol"?

The "focusing beam" has a damage factor of 11000, with a solid beam of 10 seconds. Then a torpedo (Destructive Pulse) can fire before or after after the 10 seconds before the sfx loops of the focusing beam (sounds better with the sfx)  :) It does double damage.

I also have the Tactical Nuke now working with smoke trails and it is a really powerful weapon with a damage factor of 50000. It can pretty much destroy any small ships with a single shot, but larger ships with stronger hulls lose about 1/4th of their hull (on the status bar). I wonder if I can delay the detonation by 30 seconds with an onscreen countdown. That would be cool.

I also had another cool idea- sound clips of the actors from the movie. Each sound would be a different invisible torpedo with no damage.
For the Captured Fighter:
Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum (I've got to get me one of these! scene)
-Goldblum getting queasy from Smith's driving (Look! No Hands.)
-Both smoking cigars saying goodbye
-Smith saying "Peace!" when the nuke is fired- might be the sound as weapon is fired
-Goldblum quoting Jurassic Park- "must go faster......etc)

You get the idea. :funny Other ships can have similar clips too. **This is most likely going to be added with Part 2 with the Troop Transports and the Mothership.**

The "Flight Mode" city destroyer can now launch the Alien Fighters. The way how Tiqhud HPed the ships is that the "Flight Mode" version has the shuttle launching, while the "Attack Mode" version does not. I think I like shuttle launching. :)

One thing to be noted about shuttle launching: Can only be done one at a time and if you're not moving, there's a danger of the launched craft flying into the one that came before it. :P

True, and I have no problem with that. My only issue is that when recalling the fighters back, they tend to go toward the exact center of the ship. Good thing I disabled Collisions or else they would simply crash into the hull.

I think the shuttle return script disables collisions with the hull the mothership anyway. Don't quote me on that, though.

No, but you make exciting ships, and people get excited about them and want to help as much as they can. It doesn't usually get to annoying levels with other modellers.

Another reason is that most modellers are not as good at sniffing out obscure reference as you are, and many actively request reference.

trust me when i say that many months ago, when Wiley was working on a different ship (cant remember which one it was now lol) every single person and their brother were posting hundreds of references no matter how many times Wiley told everyone he didnt need any over and over again but no one would pay any attention to that...  
and then another page would go by, a hundred more references and nitpicks, and Wiley would say again he didnt need any and asked for people not to post any more, only to be ignored by more and more and more references pics and several pages later of this, it was me who edited the thread title...  Wiley had kept that part in there after that tho on his own accord...
especially since the next project, that whole deal started up again until stronger measures were put in...  since then, it stopped...

no other modder had ever repeatedly been bombarded by literally pages and pages of posts with everyone throwing reference pics because they want perfection in every tiny slight little detail, and ignoring the modder when the modder said they didnt need any...

I totally understand why it annoyed Wiley. Reading such ignorance at the time annoyed me too.

I was just answering Wiley's question. It's simply his talent and choice of projects that excite people into a nitpicking frenzy. I fully endorse his talent and choice of projects, and rampant and annoying fandom is an unfortunate by-product of that. Ignore it, Wiley, and keep being awesome :).

Definitely. JJPrise fandom was rocketing at that time, particularly since it was before the movie came out so there werent any direct references.

in either event, it was more than overkill and because people just seemingly ignored Wiley when he asked that no one post any more (or bothered to read back more than a half-page where he last asked), the thread title was changed...

anyway, perhaps it might be best to go back ontopic - else we can change the thread title to "My WIPs - ID4 Alien Attacker ingame - DONT POST OFFTOPIC"

On-topic it is...

Seeing as we have many ships from various universes that feature mass-launch carriers (Stargate, BSG, B5, Star Wars, and of course ID4) perhaps we, [tongue_in_cheek]the community should petition, nay order, nay demand, nay FORCE[/tongue_in_cheek] a scripter to expand the shuttle-launch framework (or whatever the currently-used part of Ftech is called) to accomodate large launches from multiple points at a single click?

It could address the return point issue too. Supporting separate launch and landing locations.

Could be part of the possible later ID4 deluxe release?
