Ok, I got my PC back online now, and guess what?  The ORIGINAL Max file opened like a charm.  So I edited it and got it back to it's orignal state :D.  YAY!

Oh and CG:  I noticed when I made my first pack that the bottom saucer wouldn't switch out textures, is there any reason for this?  And how  can I edit this?

Hey folks, just finished up some texturing on the bridge, all I need now is the shuttle bay, the alpha maps for said shuttle bay, shield grids on the bridge, and a couple other things before the bridge itself is finished :)

And CG, I need to talk with you on MSN sometime, there's an extra bottom saucer where it needn't be, and I'm having a hard time fixing it without damaging the top...

Ok.. that's weird.  I wonder if it got duplicated a long time ago.  Do you mean there's basically a duplicate in the model, and each face has a double in the same place?

Also, what do you mean that the saucer won't switch out textures?  Is this related to the registry switching, or something else?

Well it was created when I deleted some editing that you had done (basically make it look more like an FC Sovereign, you had updated it close to a Nemesis Sov).  But I can send you the model back at least, what I've done with it so you can take a look...Thank heavens for backups though LOL

Bump, as I need to really say there isn't much to update on, just changing the  camera angles and what not, I'm going to complete the conny tutorial on sci-fi art, if I can figure out how to make the teardrop a/b decks correctly since I'm using 3.1 instead of 2.5.

I would still appreciate any advice though on how to go about finishing this baby up so I can get her in game and ready for bcfiles.

My goal is somewhere around 10k, not too big as I know there are still people with small machines.  Texture size is going to be 1024, unless however I decide to cut it down to like 2 or 3 textures, then it might be 2048, plus an ID map :)

How about making it a connie/sov type of ship? Not a kitbash but more of a sov looking connie.

Give it a small, yet sleek neck and a slender secondary hull, make it smooth flowing and some pylons curving out of the secondary hull, then into some really stylish nacelle design.

Also, great to hear this is still going. :D

No, I'll pass on the conny stuff LOL Truth is this is going for the more streamlined look of the Sovereign, where it just...looks fast!  No offense or anything.  I'll get this going soon after my Sovereign retexture (Hawkeye Sovereign)

This thing just went active once again LOL.  I've added the texture for a shuttle bay, and I added a couple of windows so far, but will work more on this tomorrow as well as getting some Screenies up :).  It's coming along well now, and I'm very VERY happy wwith the results thus far.  Now if someone could fill me in as to how I could go about getting an aztec pattern on the Saucer I would be most happy lol.

Update on the bridge, I plan on adding the rest of the windows, the bridge itself, more azteching, shield grids, and alpha maps to the windows and shuttle bay sometime tomorrow and I will be finished with the bridge, and will work more on the secondary hull (which should be easier than the Saucer since it's pretty straight...)

I am starting to like this!  I just hope it overwrites the stock Sovereign. :D

Unfortunately Wiley, it's not...Simple fact that this baby doesn't have an ID Map alone is why I won't overwrite it.  I plan on making one when I have enough experience with modeling to do it.  BTW, do you by any chance know how to make a circular pattern like for aztecing?

Bump whilst I'm at it, I gots an update...sort of.  I've started working on the Nacelles, however I'm afraid of the aztecing...I'm gonna work on the dark grey areas first and the "Vent" type grills on the pylons :).  if i can get the texture right that is...I'm liable to just make one huge thing, then chop it to shape and see how that goes.  Will post pictures when I have them :D

EDIT:  oops, I forgot one thing, I've made a placeholder Aztec pattern on the top saucer till I can learn how to just make it straighter..right now it looks like it's stretched upon the hull and it shouldn't look that way :(  Photo is attached this time LOL

Good work on the aztecing!  It is usually hard to get it looking just right.  The nacelles have a slanted/vertical appearance.  Will there be any bump mapping speculars?

Probably on the items that really need to be bumped (IE The edge of the Saucer and the area where the registries will be on the top saucer)  I haven't quite figured out which yet LOL.

Yeah I've given up on the aztec thing for now, I mean, it won't be THAT noticable once I get the windows and other small details on it.  So I won't worry with it :).  I am just irked about it lol.  It's kinda like the Impulse Engines...I haven't quite gotten them right just yet LOL

Keep at it with those Aztecs e74569, I like what you've done with the ship so far. As Wiley said, the aztecing is the hardest thing to get right, especially on a ship like the Sovereign.

Good work!!

Ok, I've added the Transporter Emitters, and a couple of other things, and I plan on working more on the Aztec Patterning Thursday Evening after school :).  I think I have figured out how I'm gonna make it look a bit better than it does :).  Then I'll add the Windows and the rest of the Lifeboats, and some other things and the Top Saucer will then be fixed and finished, And I will move on to the lower Saucer :D.
