The Enterprise
« on: January 12, 2009, 12:51:26 AM »
I've never been happy with any of the Constitution Class ships in BC.  Just never worked for me.  I've found the meshes to be pretty old now, and the textures usually pretty low res, so, only one solution...

To recreate the classic! :D

I built this ship in about 8 hours.  It's about as close to canon as I can get it, though I know the shuttlebay and nacelle "ears" need some work.  It's currently 16518 polygons, which seem plenty to have it look very smooth, with zero errors.  It's not finished yet, and after I optimize it and add the details I want, I expect a poly count in around 15k-17k.  I don't know when I'll get to texturing at this point, but I'm basically putting this on my do to list... and high up.

I think when I say this, it's the shared opinion of everyone who'll post after me. I am glad to see a ship such detailed as this Constitution Class, and i cannot wait to see it's release. Oh yeah, and I know how you love to do several versions of ships, so I expect to see a Cage Version and Normal TV Versions right?

I think I have been wanting a highly detailed TOS Enterprise for as long as I've played BC...and I'm increcigly excited that it's the one and only DJ that is taking it on.

Why do you do this to me DJ? I had just installed Phaser's TCMP 1.0 and then you suddenly come along with the ultimate TOS Constiution, making the retextured TCMP connies redundent.

Hate you.

JOKE!

 :D

I can't wait to beta test this. *hint**hint*
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

Nice. Dude, for the other onscreen versions, just catch me on msn and I'll show you the differences (they're minor really).

I don't know what it is about the original connie, given it's relative crudeness when compared to newer ships, but there is something beautiful about it I think.

9th--> The poly count is in the original post.

Gorgeous as usual :D

Meh.  He's more compliant to my demands when he's fed.

.... though he still refuses to model a wang spaceship for me.

FOR SHAME!
A game is still only a game without a WANG mod! But WITH a wang mod... it becomes so very much more...

Lawl.

I totally agree, though, that a TMP Enterprise would be awesome to see one day as well [no rush or request; just got my imagination going is all. :P]

I like this, though... so smooth...
