Gawd if only I had your skills :P

Thanks fellas,

oh yeah!   A black Defiant sounds fantastic!   :dance

It does, my brother read about it in a trek novel (he loves to read). When I am done with the regular defiant, the stealth one is defiantely on the cards as soon as he gives me all the descriptions in the book that is  :)

Again, not a huge amount of progress, but I have put in many hours on this over the past few days, allot of them have been spent learning Illustrator as I go for the hull panel lines. These are just place holders for the panels so I can shade them properly later on.

Hopefully I will get the top side all panelled out today. Illustator is a great piece of kit, I have had version CS for a while now since buying it from ebay, I should have used it many moons ago.

Can anyone tell me what colour the plasma vents should emit? (four round ones on either side) Also does the grill above main engineering glow? (two back rectangular features)

As I recall, the U.S.S. Monitor was designed, unlike the Defiant, purely for Borg-fighting as well as stealth.  She had no external running lights or bold Starfleet pennants.  The hull was black and not even the ship's name could be seen unless sunlight reflected off of it just right.  The Monitor's engines were tuned to emit in the ultraviolet spectrum as to not show exactly where the ship was with the usual bright reds and blues.  The ship was equipped with a cloaking device, pulse phaser cannons, and photon torpedoes(I can't remember if it had quantum torpedoes or not).

The ship comes from William Shatner's Star Trek novels that detail the return of James T. Kirk after the events of Star Trek Generations.

I have that book...can't remember the title, but it's the one where Kirk is chasing Picard around onboard the Challenger trying to kill him, and even Spock has an appearance :D

I need to read more. .  .that sounds like so much fun  :yay:

Thanks for the info on the "Monitor!" Should make an interesting texture project  :) I suppose I will darken the textures and make the monitor the same colour scheme as a US stealth fighter, thats prob where the writers got there insperation  ;)

The four round thingies have a blue backlight and the grilles have a red backlight ;)

You could render their lightning with light tracer on.  :D

I apologise for the massive lack of updates.

I go to afghanistan in 5 weeks, we have to replace a large American contingent who need to move somewhere else that I cannot explain here. Basically the screw is turned for training the past 2-3 months and now we are ready to go back into the fire..

Fellas take it easy, model well and have a great year.  will catch up with you all in October when i get back  ;)

Can a MOD please lock this thread.

Thank you.
