The difference is the deflector.
http://images.wikia.com/memoryalpha/en/images/e/eb/Galaxy_class_differences_between_the_4-foot_and_6-foot_models.jpg
The deflector of the 4ft is a big round one and the 6ft one is a sharp and flat one. Of course the are other differences like the saucer a bit (texture etc).

The picture i gave you, the one on the top is the 4ft (round deflector) and the one below, sharp one is 6ft.

I had critizism when I built my Enterprise-D almost a year ago (less critizism now then when I was just starting). Though I never released it, I was not too happy how I built some compenents. I was able to build the ship pretty well, and I know I can build it better in the future. If Baz re-makes the Ent-D again, go right ahead. Critizism helps- it lets us fix our mistakes to produce the best product in the end. No one is getting paid to make these ships- they are free, and being built in our free time. I have seen many 3D interpretations of the Ent-D and Baz's one is already very good. Sometimes, we are our most worst enemy for critizism.

Baz- do what you want, people will still download the ship.

Not just the deflector Sov...the Saucer and Secondary hull edges are also taller....

And don't think for a minute that people will care whether the hull lines match up.  They'll download it because it's Baz's work alone.  It's HIS interpretation of the ship, even if certain things are off.

The 6ft appears more slender, the 4ft more...beefy, powerful, thick.

Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Also, you're forgetting that those shots from Drex Files are taken from a perspective.  Things are naturally not going to line up with Baz's pics, which are orthographic.  This is the biggest reason for me saying "What Baz has is damn close to perfect", because really the only way for him to make it better is to use perfectly orthographic shots of the 6 footer, which is pretty much impossible.

I'd download it because it's Baz's work alone.  I can't think of a single Baz ship I haven't downloaded.   :dontcare:

Same here!  Although I really need to redownload everything I've just had to reinstall everything just so I can work on the Titan

Thanks for the support guys but the recent comments have made me ask is it worth it. I have some thinking to do if I want to continue.

I understand I cannot please everyone but I would hope people would respect to let something go when the person who has spent hours and days on something to decide what he or she wants to change.

I'm all for people giving feedback it is how we modders get better but they have to know when to let it go.

The last comment has stung abit so until further notice ALL Baz1701 projets are on indefinitely on hold.
Whatever knocks us back, can only make us stronger.

Well I for one cannot blame you Baz.  His nitpicks (and they ARE nitpicks) could have been conducted a bit better, and to say that no one will download it because HE thinks it's inaccurate is complete and utter ...

You do one heck of a job Baz, and I for one will be waiting in line to download everything you do!

baz please do not let the opinions of one person kill the spirit you have with modding...  the rest of the community has great appreciation and admiration for your work and is very much thankful for your making people's installs all that much better...  there will always be nitpickers to every single mod and ship made, thats an unfortunate reality, just ignore that and dismiss it...

that being said, just a general reminder to everyone:
insulting someone, or the work produced by someone, is strictly against forum rules...  if there is any more of it, bans will be applied immediately no matter the circumstance...

Amen to this.  If Sov doesn't want to download it because he feels it's inaccurate, then that's 1 person out of a community of what??? 1300 people? (That's here at BCC Alone).  I'm pretty sure no one would notice a few discrepancies (and of all things because the photo from drexfiles itself isn't a perfect prespective), I didn't.  And a few others didn't either.  Don't let it bother you Baz, we know you put a lot of sweat blood and tears into your work.  That's why we download your stuff.  Because you work HARD to put out great stuff!  You've come a LONG way to become one of the BEST modelers and modders in the BC Community.  You're right up there with Wiley, DJ Curtis, Hell even Mark, LC and yeah Scotchy and CG too.  I only WISH I could be a great modeler as you.

So you go on with the Galaxy, make it so yours.  I will most certainly download it!

Baz, it is ultimately your decision.  I hope that you'll see that those that will download your work outweigh the nitpickers.  Personally, I think the Galaxy looks fantastic.  I don't know about anybody else, but I look forward to adding it to the line-up of top quality ships of yours.

I think that when modeling canon ships, we have to be prepared to accept a great deal of criticism.  A ship like the Galaxy Class carries an emotional attachment that shouldn't be ignored, as geeky as that is.  I also don't think anyone should expect to have their work downloaded just because of who they are.  Quality is what gets downloads much of the time.

It's Baz's mesh, it's his call if he wants to change it or not.  Most probably won't notice the difference, or care, but I think Sov001 probably means well here.  I don't think feelings need to be hurt over it.  Is the ship noticeably inaccurate in some areas?  It would seem that way.  Does that mean is must be corrected?  No.

We have to value criticism, even when we don't want it.  On the flip side, if a creator decides to move on from a criticism, it's time to move on.

Baz you don't suck. But, the follies of modding canons is nitpicking, and whenever you do canon there's always going to be someone sitting there with the blueprinits pointing out every missing nut and bolt. Even if it isn't total accurate, inaccuracies existed in the show so just do the best you can and those who don't like it can just not download it. Or, get ahold of me, I got tons of noncanon designs to promote and then you only need to put up with me :P :funny.
I just realised something. I've released over 300 fully modded ships for bridge commander. Bow to your master :D

This is exactly what i mean. I never said his other other work was crap or so! I just don't agree that you download work because of a person name.. Do i have all wiley's ships? No! Do i have all dj's ships? No? Only the ones i want..

I never intended to hurt baz his feelings, sjeezes christ, i just wanted to help. Sometimes a modder is so busy with constructing and making something, he is overlooking things, this is quite normal. That's why you show your work at other people. Asking for a bit of help.

If i was a nitpicker, i would just say that there are a few things off balance and that's it. I even did a small comparison to point it out where it was, to help the man. Suddenly, i'm the gul dukat of this forum because i wanted to help him.

If you don't want to change it, then don't change it, no problem, it's your ship! But this is a forum, everyone is allowed to say something.

Baz, i didn't wanted to hurt your feelings or to stop your work, please continue.

And eclipse, you don't need to start personal.

I wasn't trying to be personal dude.  Seriously, it's just how you chose your words that got us all riled up.  I realize you were just trying to help, but you could have done it in a more tactful way.  Telling a modder that their models won't get downloaded due to something small is a bit rude to me.  If you had just said "Hey Baz, could you make a small change to the bottom of the engineering hull" might have gotten a better response than "You had better model this thing right," or "No one will download it" etc. etc.

EDIT:  I am in no way trying to be mean or disrespectful, if I am taken that way I apologize ahead of time.

And with this I. Am. Done.
