You do realise the rig that exploded was neither owned nor operated by BP right? They lease it. It was built by Hyundai in South Korea, commisioned by R&B Falcon, which was later bought by Transocean, a Swiss based American offshore drilling contractor, who also operated the thing.
AKA Halliburton, that our former VP was the CEO of (?)
from what i keep hearing in the news, the whole reason it all happened was that the company(s) kept cutting corners to increase profit. (which just for that they should all be fined than shot)
all i also i hear in the media is BP BP BP, because i guess their the ones who make the profit off it or some s*it.
but regardless of who owns the friggin thing, it needs to be fixed, plugged, cleaned up, and gotten the hell out of the gulf, this is a PRIME example of how bad were f*cking up our planet by continuing to use fossil fuels as heavy as we do in the U.S. (or the world in general, we ALL use it in some form), and yet the jack*ss we elected as president campaigned on changing to a different fuel source, and thus far the only changes ive seen is 3 electric car parking lots in tampa that the Governor implemented, not the feds.
but this isnt the thread for this debate, nor do i wanna get preachy about the situation, because basically as long as SOMEONES taking responsibility for the issue, and working to fix it as fast as humanly and technologically possible, than im satisfied.... unless it gets even more out of hand.
