Im really diggin the vigilent model hobbs, NICE!
heres my history for the vigilant:
Uss Vigilant
Vigilant Class

SPECIFICATION
The Vigilant class of star ship is designed as a explorer ship and federation perimeter ship. Its duty consists of exploratory and long range patrol ship. The Vigilant would perform duties similar to the Galaxy class.
It has a unique design consisting of an inline saucer/engineering hull.
The ship uses a through deck cargo bay which allows for the ship to utilise an imbedded bridge.(bridge replacement via cargo bay) and it has two aft shuttle bays dorsal and ventral fed by two bay doors
The ship has two main phaser strips running almost the length of the engineering hull, one dorsal one ventral. The saucer section has sixteen phaser strips, eight on the dorsal and eight on the ventral, four more are on the aft section, two dorsal two ventral outside the shuttle bays. Two forward torpedo launchers either side of the deflector array complete the Vigilant's offensive systems.
HISTORY
Built during the late 2370?s at STARBASE 67 this ship has none of the technology brought back to the federation by the crew of Voyager but nevertheless this ship has the best offensive and defensive systems available at the time.
This was proved during her shake down cruise, the NX Vigilant was exploring the armus, pelleus and boreal sectors when she was attacked by an annexing force of three Tholian vessels.
The NX Vigilant was able to destroy two of the ships and the third fled back to Tholian space.
Though victorious in her first combat action the NX Vigilant was damaged and returned to federation space and repaired at STARBASE 67.
Since that attack by Tholian ships Starfleet has built the Uss Argus and has three more ships of the Vigilant Class are planned simply due to the NX Vigilant?s victory against the Tholian?s.

Now in 2380 the Vigilant Class still operate out of STARBASE 67 but also STARBASE 32 near the MUTARA NEBULA.

the corinium was also my idea for a starfleet ship that would do what the construction ships do but as an actual starship,

heres my oblivion class: designed to hold areas of space before the main fleet arrives.

worf359alpha: cool cant wait sounds interesting

jamesTiberiusKirk: exactly! i loved the constellations ships and the new ones like the cheynne... so i made one myself :) just a sovie redesign (though i dont like the sovie) thanks :)

bankruptstudios:  :o wow yes that would be awesome!

and the Corinium's history:

NX CORINIUM

CORINIUM CLASS

DEEP RANGE EXPLORER / RESUPPLY AND REPAIR SHIP

THIS SHIP IS ALMOST COMPLETE RE-BUILD OF THE SOVEREIGN CLASS OF STAR SHIP. THE CORINIUM IS BIGGER EQUIPPED WITH BETTER ENGINES SENSORS AND THE UNIQUE AUXILIARY CRAFT THAT ALLOW HER TO CONSTRUCT SMALL INSTALLATIONS IN THE REMOTE SECTORS SHE EXPLORES.

THE CORINIUM HAS A HUGE SAUCER SECTION THAT HAS A LARGE BAY DOOR AT THE FRONT SECTION WHICH LEADS TO A LARGE HANGER BAY THAT TAKES UP MOST OF THE SAUCERS INTERNAL VOLUME. THIS  BAY IS FOR HER AUXILIARY CRAFT THAT SHE CARRIES TO THE UNEXPLORED SECTORS. THESE CRAFT ALLOW HER TO CONSTRUCT SMALL STARFLEET INSTALLATIONS AND REPAIR SUCH INSTALLATIONS AND SHIPS.

THE SECOND OBVIOUS FEATURE IS THE NACELLE ARRANGEMENT, CLOSE TO THE SECONDARY HULL AND ALSO DOUBLED UP TO FOUR SHE HAS THE ABILITY TO ALTERNATE NACELLES AND WARP CORES TO ENABLE BETTER EXPLORATION. THE CORINIUM HAS THE FOUR NACELLE CONFIGURATIONS SEEN IN THE CONSTELLATION CLASS OF STAR SHIP BUT HAS THE UNIQUE ADVANTAGE OF TWO WARP CORES, THESE ARE INSTALLED SIDE BY SIDE IN MAIN ENGINEERING.

THE CORINIUM HAS A CRUISING WARP SPEED EQUAL TO THE FASTEST SHIPS OF THE FLEET BUT A MUCH LONGER DURATION DUE TO SWAPPING OF ENGINES.
WITH SO MUCH EXCESS POWER THE CORINIUM HAS THE BEST AND MOST POWERFUL REGENERATIVE SHIELDS, SENSORS AND PHASERS AVAILABLE.

NAMED AFTER A TOWN IN ENGLAND ON EARTH, CORINIUM IS THE ANCIENT NAME FOR CIRENCESTER.

THIS SHIP UTILISES THE BEST TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE, THAT IS NOT TO SAY THE NEWEST, BUT THE MOST RELIABLE AND EASILY REPAIRED OR REPLACED.

Arthur and Gallahad should probably be at the top of the list, not just Gallahad.  and unless you plan on making the Mordred a total bada**, the name's rep alone may make people shy away from it.  for a counter to Mordred, name another one Quixote :D (or...Shrek :P )

I'd also pull name lists from the Crusades, Celtic Mythology, and other bits of western European heroes and Villans.

*grins* you just gave me a name idea for my Independence class, as well.

I was just messing with ideas lol couldnt think of a class name the other day (it was gon midnight lol) and i had just found a book i got from King Arthurs Great halls in tintagel lol and well there you go... be perfectly honest im not fond of the class name and yes i would have got "real" knights names from the crusades but then it was 421 this morning i put those names up lol

so what do you think of the design? think of it: starfleet sent 40 starships to fight the borg... if the had 40 of these lol they would have had 160 ships lol

interesting...reminds me of the Soulwolf designed as more of a one-peice than an open-butt. soverignise the popup nacelle and you have an all-style winner.

a suggestion for the armour class variant is Shaffron.  see how many guys "get" that (i'm not spoiling it, so wiki it).  or quite frankly, Grand Klaive as that's what it looks like to me. also, pull a few names from Chinese and Japanese mythology, weapons and people.  you can't have a warrior class without a Samurai or two.

Dangit, Hobss, DADDY LIKEY, Likey BETY BETY MUCH! I like the names to, i also have an afinity for the legend of King Arthur (Arturious and Tristan is my faves, and i have 2 Excalibur Class Missile Cruisers named after them, very fitting)). I also like to name my ships after Greek and spesificly Spartan Heroes, As the Spartans were the badest mother*******s of their age, recently ive been reading alot of Obrien novels, about Jack Aubrey like the russel crowe movie Master and Commander, and has given me lots of great ship name ideas . @King Class Scout, Shaffron very good my friend, i like that! :) Make a good name for a BOP as they are the Cavelry of the Klingon Empire!

Wolf: nope.  i don't think the Klingons have riding animals.  the only mention I've come across is in the extra novel "klingon"  they wouldn't have the concept of it.  besides, everything Klingon has it's own BUILT IN armor.

Well here's a ship that's been a pain in the butt lol
I been working on this for (i think) years. Apparently no matter how many times i try and draw the Scorpion class from plan and side views i cant do it! it just looks rubbish (and that's not me just saying that they were RUBBISH!) but last night i did this design, in an "artists sketch" look and well i think i like it.

Tell me what you think and if some one could do a side and plan view that would be great.
NX SCORPION
SCORPION CLASS - HEAVY COMBAT ESCORT

DUE TO THE SIMPLE FACT OF WAR STARFLEET HAS COME TO THE DECISION THAT IT WILL NEVER AGAIN LET THE FEDERATION FACE WAR WITHOUT THE MEANS TO COMBAT THAT WAR. IN THIS EFFORT STARFLEET BEGAN WORKING ON NEW COMBAT ORIENTATED STARSHIPS.
THE SCORPION CLASS WAS ONE SUCH DESIGN.

BUILT AFTER THE DOMINION WARS ENDED THE SCORPION UTILISES THE DATA FOUND FROM THE WAR IN REGARDS TO THE SHIPS SUCH AS THE DEFIANT CLASS.
ONE SUCH REALISATION WAS THAT SUCH SHIPS WERE PERFECT FOR STANDARD COMBAT BUT THE SCORPION CLASS ADVANCES THE TECHNOLOGY TO A DEGREE WHERE A LARGER SHIP CAN STILL FIGHT AS WELL. THE SCORPION CLASS IS SIGNIFICANTLY LARGER THAN THE DEFIANT CLASS SHIPS AND UTILISES A FAR MORE EFFECTIVE AND STANDARDISED HULL SHAPE, DUE TO THIS THE SHIP IS ABLE TO CREATE A MORE EFFICIENT WARP FIELD.
WITH NEW ADVANCES IN WARP THEORY THE SCORPION USES A MORE CENTRALISED NACELLE CONFIGURATION WHICH FURTHER INCREASES THE EFFICIENCY OF THE WARP FIELD GIVING THE SCORPION CLASS A CRUISING SPEED OF WARP 8 AND A MAXIMUM SPEED OF WARP 9.99 FOR 12 HOURS.
THE SHIP ALSO USES A TYPE OF CONFIGURABLE WEAPONS POD AT THE AFT OF THE SHIP THIS POD IN THE NX TEST BED VERSION USES A ADVANCED HEAVY PHASER CANNON WHICH IS CLASSED AS TYPE XV (soveraign phasers are type XII) THE NEW PHASER ALSO HAS TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPED FROM THE DATA GATHERED FROM THE BREEN DAMPENING WEAPON ATTACKS. THIS HAS PROVIDED THE SCORPION WITH A "sting" THIS CAUSES ALL PROPULSION SYSTEMS TO FAIL ON THE TARGET VESSEL.

THE SCORPION USES SIMILAR WEAPONS PODS ON THE NACELLES BUT DUE TO POWER LIMITATION AT PRESENT THE WEAPONS ARE SET TO BE EITHER PULSE PHASERS OR TYPE XII PHASER CANNONS
THE SHIP ALSO UTILISES QUANTUM TORPEDOES AND THE NEW TRANS-PHASIC TORPEDOES BROUGHT BACK BY VOYAGER, THOUGH THE FEDERATION IS DEBATING USE OF THESE WEAPONS AS STANDARD DUE TO THE DESTRUCTIVE CAPABILITY THEY HOLD.

that would be great if you could :)
i don't know what my problem is though, i mean i can normally do plan views and can do some sort of passable side view but on this design.... it just goes wrong lol

Heres the ship i was telling you about Hobbs, i just started in 3DS Max on this baby, like i told you its an 18yr old design i did way back in 1991, im gonna refine it some in max, but the finished ship will look very simular, only more rounded!
