I just noticed, the pic you used for the bridge is the Klingon bridge from STIII, isn't it?

Yes, modified to lower the chair and remove the forward crew members, then a mirror. Good eye ;)

I based the house plate I made on one of my own Next G fanworks involving Q, a were species,  and the Kzin!  I think I scared the kitties a bit :P

i went over it lately, and I think it looks terrible.


It doesnt look that bad, but I can make out what you are going for there...if you can draw me a sketch of what it is supposed to look like then I can create a panel emulation for you.

Ok, she is coming along. There is still alot to add, little detail lines in the hull panels, some discolored panels, etc.

I wanted to post a shot of my current nacelle work. Let me know what you think, note that it is a work in progress, so there are areas that are not fully textured yet...but this gives you the idea of where I am going.

Thanks, and good eye ;). It does need to get rid of that sharp edge. Ill smooth it better when I finish the overall textures to the rear.

I screwed up on the ridge part of the graphic.  reduce it to a single yellow triangle in the red part.  everything else is fine.

as for the nacelles, I hope they're bright enough to see, this time.  I couldn't tell they were on half the time till I saw the underside ( On the E7, i caught a lot of stray pixels in the alphas that i cleaned up)

Well, Im working on learning how to convert BMPs into TGAs using photoshop, but frankly most of the tutorials I have seen are just bogus for what I need. Since I use BMPs for my textures that means someone will have to convert them, and the conversion may not come out right.

"conversion"?  most graphics programs support multiple formats and can easily switch between formats.

Raven: what version of Photoshop are you using?
Some of the older CS versions actually screw with TGAs the wrong way when you open them: It will actually apply the alpha channel to the other channels and screw everything up (ie: badness).

From what I understand, to convert SFC to BC (feel free to correct me anyone) is basically Copy the Illumination texture and add it as an alpha channel in the color map - then save as a TNG with the suffix "_glow".

Here is the work sofar on the crew module/forward torp. I tried to keep a traditional D-7 look (plainish hull, a few raised panels, yellow around the launcher). Let me know if you think this is the right direction to go.

On a side note, I know it would probably just be a lot of un-needed work, but IIRC you can use a MVAM (or FTech) script when changing alert status (Was done on the Romulan "Vas'Kolnir" or something similar) Using the same technique could you be able to do the same thing with the red 'glow' in the torpedo launcher, so it's dark when at green/yellow alert, and lit red at uh, red alert?

(Seen at 1:45 here)


 I think it would just be an awesome homage to the K'Tinga.

Yea, I dont think they have yellow alert. Probably action stations only.

I have never tried a canon ship, and I imagine if I did it would look horrible.

Also note that I use many sources, not all of it is hand drawn....I might draw from pictures of obscure things on the net (pictures of tubes, pipes, machinery) and my former models....when I make a set of textures I sometimes use elements of those prior textures to save time on a new one, or just because I nailed what I wanted on the prior textures.

...so you might be giving me more credit than I deserve. But I do appreciate the praise.

I still feel you are far better at using graphics tools then I am DJ....my intent is to send a mind-reading device to your house to copy your secrets...(twirls mustache) :)

Ok, I decided to make the windows pure white, after seeing some vid caps that showed them in white. Let me know if you think this is better than greenish.
