Make the aztecs smaller, like this with them, she looks rather small if we ignore the window size. Aztecing should reflect the size as much as window rows and their size does on stations (bigger station = smaller panels she's made out of; smaller station = bigger panels, but relatively speaking, the panels should be about the same size on both.).

Adonis - any advice you could give on reconciling the differences between Starship aztecing and Starship aztecing? Whenever I have tried to make a station, it seems as if (by the texture details) to be a very large ship, not a station - If I scale the aztecing of the station to be 1:1 with a ship, the texture is just a blur.

That's really dependent on the era you're in. From none in TOS (very subtle in TOSR), to the TMP one WZ nicely described in his aztec tut, to the Ambassador which has virtually none (shieldgrids make up for it - actually an ST art team error due to lack of time), Galaxy/Nebula and the sorts which is a variation on the TMP saucer one, to Sovereign and so on which are another ballgame.

I have to agree with adonis, some of the hull panels on your station are the size of Constitution class starships.  the signage is also wrong, but I can live with that, it still looks good.

Well, if you're building a giant space station, isn't more cost and time effective to use big panels instead of a lot of small ones to cover the same space?

Small panels. If the panels are the size of Connies, why not make Connies instead? xD

what? carve a connie out of one huge hunk of metal??
It'd make for a stronger hull!!

Who says that anything is made planetside? The metal could be made into panels in orbit. It wouldn't supprise me if there are a few drydocks working on sections of the station, which are then tractored or moved otherwise into position.

Well, I think Matt Jefferies said that, in is head, the TOS Connie was made of a single piece of cristalline material, grown into shape.

The Franz Josef Tech Manual drawings were line drawings, right? I think you should go for a very small plating pattern, to give texture to the base, but then add some "Broad strokes" hull markings. Very feint hull markings, so they are only barely noticeable. An example of the type of hull markings I mean would be the Defiant, but obviously, much more feint. Take a look at TOS-HD for a better idea of what I mean. Their Enterprise has some incredibly subtle hull texturing, to break up the solid wash of colour on the hull and give a sense of scale.

Bren,  sounds like a good idea but unfortunatley I do not pocess the skill to make that happen.  If anyone is willing to do texture for the base let me know.

Well, you've got a good plating pattern going. Just add some broader fields of blue and brown, very very transparent, over the top. Blend them on in a different layer in photoshop.
