I personally would add some teal, blue or green colored panels a la Constitution to that color scheme (whichever one lends in the best).

Probably not going to happen since it kicked the poly count from a mere 6k to a much higher 15k, but at least it looks cool...

it makes me wonder if a transparent texture would work instead of an actual modeled grille

Ya, looks cools, and 15k is still not really a big deal, but for what you get it's probably not worth it.

Found a way to do it that only added 300 polygons. Puts it at 7k.

That'd be a small price to pay for probably the best Defiant to hit BC since Lint's.
