I'm the only one that can't see that little difference.  but, then again, I'm still on a CRT monitor of only 15 inches.

also, Lionus got CTD's on the Mirandas being hoggy...but I got CTD's on the triples being hoggy.

Hey, baz, if an overall mem saving measure is shrinking in general of the entire texture set (i was only given the mains to shrink), does that include the bussard animation ones?

The bussards are already 512 so they should be fine.

I think the problems people are having is the poly count and large textures.

The new models he is working on are far more easier on the poly count so that will go some way to sorting the issues you guys with older systems are having.

As I recommended last night he (and I) have spent too much time to simply drop this mod in favour of mark 2, and on the whole they are not bad for a first time release

Just thought I show my first effort to remind people that we all have to start somewhere :facepalm:
The ships below for me anyway could have the tag "Don't forget your origins" lol

They were each a different shade of gray in the MPE. I'll go for a lighter than medium gray (about 35-40% Black). Then the overall color can be slightly darker by adding subtle hull paneling/weathering.

On second thought, the gray you used for the Origent mesh, you could use that color, but make it a little bit lighter.

These are the TOS colours I used for my ships.

Concrete is supposed to be the closest match to the TOS Connies hull

Dont get me wrong all the problems from this mod have kinda upset me but im rising above it thinking they're not attacking they're helping and all its going to do is help me make somthing better and that is my goal - i mean poor baz i must of annoyed him somthing silly with this mod but still, he stands there beside me helping me as much as he can and i really apricate it but when i fix the problems and get onto the next one, i think i'll release each ship on its own and make sure 1 at a time they are perfect lol i think i got lost with so much nitty grittys lol - when i get to the miranda i might just do a Miranda pack as i have these as it is

and they are Basically the same thing so it wont take much to just do a pack, i'm going to stay strong, use all your support u've given me to release my best work i've ever done - so Thanks guys i appricate it

Thats good to hear Phoneix, you have done some very high quality work and put a lot of effort into this pack and it shows. You have a good foundation and all you need to do is to build upon it.  :)

Done and sit's nicely at 32,775 polys - and still some to make smaller so i hope to be looking at just under 30k - so what do you think people???

well i feel like i want to drop my 2 pence worth in. though i've not beta tested from what i see your far far better ship builder than many who DO release without a thought for the errors in their mods... your ships are pretty awesome, but then that's coming from me and i'm not that good lol.

All i would say is this:

don't worry about the errors, they will be fixed one way or another, and your new plan to go at a slower pace and work each ship to death is a MASTER plan. (que music from said band lol) no i mean it the few ships i have done i have always focused on them to the death. sod quantity go for quality.

and yours have quality in abundance and i'm sure many of us non beta testers would not even have noticed any errors (beta testers seem to have the uncanny knack for homing in on said errors)

keep up the great work and if you ever fancy expanding your textureing skills to more tng + ships let me know and you can have a look at my ship i'm working on now.

Ok had my ear chewed off by adonis for the heavy poly count on my connie, lol, so i thought i would just give you an update . She was 32,775 polys on Editable mesh and now sitting at 24,121 polys with STILL more polys i can get rid of - i actually think i might be able to get her to hit 20k :D now if she stays look that good, i will be over the fracking moon :D i was going to post some pictures but theres not point at all - U CAN'T TELL ANY DIFFERENCE

the BIG change so far (and all i've done thanks to Adonis) is GEOSPHERES!!!!

so changed the spheres at the back and the bussard and clear dome

Tomorrow - Poly kill on the saucer - She alone is 8k WOW!!! lol

but for today im off to bed

Adonis is (like his namesake), a god when it comes to modelling. He knows how to improve things on the models, without sacrificing the level of quality.

It's great to hear that you've managed to shave "some" polies off an otherwise gorgeous model. The lower the better (without losing quality).

Ok so, in editable mesh she was 32,775 polys, then down to 24,121. Now she's sitting at 20,970 polys, so that's 11,805 polys off, hell i've seen ships build in that lol, well lets just say this, the connie that i have going around with origins is 26,978 polys and there is MORE detail in my new one, so im very very happy, and here is a small list of other bits i can save a few polys off

Shuttle bay
Observation deck/dome
deck 2/3
Nacelle intercoolers

if i sound excited its coz i actually really am :D - like a kid in a candy store  :dance :yay: :yay:

i dunno how much more you're gonna pare off.  oh, that reminds me, Someone was asking me what some of the bits were and why they're there (like the stuff your trying to pare down).  but, since so many people have seperate theories...personally, I'd rather get word of god from Matt Jeffries, since he actually designed the thing :P
