Seeing Double (or Half)
« on: December 06, 2011, 06:07:57 PM »
I know that these titles are probably getting annoying as well as the large number of questions, but I guess you could say I'm adding a bit more levity to the forums. I have a model that has 2 texture tga files one dorsal, one ventral. The texture only covers half the ship (it is mirrored). Is there any easy way I  redo the textures so as to make the port and starbord sides of the ship different, so as to display registry and whatnot?

I thought as much. What's The Best way to remap the texture and can I just make mirror images of the existing texture after remapping or do I have to completely start over?

you can do that, but it would probably look better if you started from scratch, you'll need a modeling program with a UV mapper.

If you can prove to the Autodesk website that you are a student, you can get a legitimate copy of 3D Studio Max for free (for about 3 years).

I love student discounts.  :D

I think in NifSkope or Milkshape there is flip option of the model (by X scale). Then you should see you regs in normal way, not mirrored.

Who appointed you the comedy police?  For the record, I'm one heck of a funny guy.  It was just a little joke, and an answer to the question.

He didn't ask how to do it, he asked if there was an easy way.  There is isn't for what he wants to do, so that answer was and still is: no.
