Whoa...with that shuttle bay, now she looks like a super-bad@$$ 25th century refit of the Luna-class. O.O

Yeah, kinda like a fusion of Vesta and Luna classes.

As for the shuttle bay, where it is Galaxy style doors would look better. If you want the dome it would look better moved aft with a rounded hull. I think both would look good IMO.

As for the shuttle bay, the reason it looks off is because it's framed on two sides.  The Constituion had its bulb-shaped shuttle bay out in the open to facilitate angled landings and takeoffs.  But having a bulb shape that's boxed in renders it useless.

Given the interior space available, I don't think any angled landings would be done on a Connie anyway! I think the only reason it was a bulb is because it fit the lines of the ship better.
I do agree that a more Galaxy-like shuttlebay door would be worth exploring.

Yeah... Somehow in my opinion the nacelles dont really fit the rest of the ship. They are awesome alone, but I think for the whole design they are too bulky and too boxy. They would need to be simpler and more streamlined like the rest of the ship. But oh well, thats just me I guess.

I think you're overthinking that JTK.  This ship isn't going to be simple and streamlined.  I'm pretty sure that Aeries is gonna be throwing some armor plating on here soon.  I think the main thing throwing the nacelles off are the pylons.  They seem a bit small to be attached to nacelles that big.

given the style of those nacelles, I think they would blend better with a ship that's tightly compacted, but they look okay here too.  Rather like one of those guys at the gym who works out nothing but his biceps.:)  Besides, there's nothing saying that can't be used again on another ship in the future.  I reused the nacelles from the Vivace class on Leonidas class.

I think you're overthinking that JTK.  This ship isn't going to be simple and streamlined.

That pretty much sums it up. I gotta chop it up here and there, make that new shuttlebay, etc etc. It's taking after the Luna Class only with a much bigger punch and not looking like some twisted messed up tuna fish.

I'm pretty sure that Aeries is gonna be throwing some armor plating on here soon.

More or less. I'm going to try to leave everything that I can in the textures this time around... there will be some, but I don't wanna have to deal with the kind of mess I had before all over again. The main thing here is getting this now sleek-as-a-fashion-model's-@ss hull to be a little bulkier. I have some ideas as to how this'll work, but the pylons need to be revised and the aft section cut up a little to allow for the addition of the primary impulse manifolds on aforementioned pylons.

This ship isn't going to be anything like what you're seeing right now, people. What you guys are all looking at is the base "shape" that I'm going to be working from. There's going to be a lot of cool sh!t going into this that'll rock your freakin' worlds. :] The nacelles are staying and for good reason...

Rather like one of those guys at the gym who works out nothing but his biceps.:)

So it's time to move onto the treadmill, eh? ;)

And on that note, DOUBLE POST for an update: New shuttlebays [3 of them: two standard and one large bay for fighter deployment], an armored overhang to protect the bays [was planning to add that anyways] with a mounted sovvy-style observation deck and soon to be torpedo bays somewhere around there.

Yea, that's what I thought as well. From the aesthetic point of view, they look slightly out of proportion. But who knows what such enormous nacelles can be good for. The Vesta class for example has these new slipstream nacelles, so why not have another ship with experimental propulsion systems. Anyway, I'm pretty confident it will turn out as best as it could be...

If it's just the size of the nacelles you guys are worried about [which I was thinking earlier today are pretty big...] it's easy to re-size them.

I think it's partly the size and the pylons need to be beefed up a bit to hold them.  I dunno.  You're the modder here Aeries, not me! :P

Dude, the pylons are MASSIVE as they are! Lol. I think you're lookin' at her from a messed up angle. But no worries in any event; I have some nicer pylons in store soon. :]

Another update. Got some mean forward phaser cannons goin' on.

Yes, I agree, maybe you should scale them down to 70%...the design of the nacelles themselves isn't bad at all (= good!).

Haha! Now now, boys, behave! :P

I made some new pylons and scaled the nacelles a little. I've also added a few details, extra shuttle/fighter bays on either side of the saucer and started working on a new bridge module [though in all honesty it's a pain in the @ss.]

There's some cleaning up to do but overall I'm happy-ish. Gonna work on the vectored-thrust impulse engines for the pylons and other little details [vents, intakes, torpedo launchers, etc.] later on tonight. C&C greatly appreciated as always.

Wow, that's a pretty nice pylon design!  Somewhat reminiscent of the Achilles from Dominion Wars.
