Yeah I noticed the dirt but I think it wasn't on set for filming. It would most probibly be cleaned before going on film.

Because then people would start complaining because they've changed something. Just like people didn't like Enterprise because the characters were more human (like we are today). Many Trek fans don't like change.

Stuck in the past you mean? How ironic.

Yeah, people would complain, they always do. Can't ever meet the expectations of rabid fanbois.
And, FYI, ENT failed because it changed to little, it was essentially TNG/VOY light up until season three when it was more a re-hash of DS9/BSG.

and as for many Trek fans not liking change: Who cares, as long as it sells well to the average moviegoer.

As the topic title reflects, attached to this post is the first of the cast photos for the upcming (~290 days away) Star Trek XI, featuring a brand new cast bringing life to familiar characters from Trek's youth. Opinions are welcome, "flaming" is not. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything :P

And without further ado... (Last pic is of the main villain, Nero)

Nero doesn't look very Romulan, but eh.  I'll still reserve judgement.

Pine gives the vibe of Kirk, but really hard to tell from one pic of him, especially when he's not in uniform.

Quinto....wow.  The resemblance is beyond striking.  It's freaking scary. O.O

Same with...errr....whatever her name is that's playing Uhura...plus she's hot. :P

it should be Zoe Saldana
remember, klingons also looked like human people until they experimented with genom projects if I'm not completely wrong..

 Says his name, not race, but you are partially correct. If that is romulan, I don't like it. Should be a klingon, in my opinion.

Had you taken the time and effort to do some research of your own, you'd realize that the main villains in Star Trek XI are the Romulans, and the lead villain is called Nero.

Note: Romulans in TOS looked nothing like the TNG-era Romulans, and it's the TOS look that JJ Abrams is going for (and thus keeping it canon in the process).

Yeah, I think I read somewhere that the Romulans won't have the ridge they had in TNG.

That first guy is supposed to be kirk? Idk about that, personally. I'll reserve my judgements for if/when more info is released, though.
