As soon as I saw the bridge pics I knew they'd frak up the ship! The most destinctive feature of the entire movie and they have to stick two fingers up to the fans and Matt Jefferies with their joke of an Enterprise.

I hope this film is quietly forgotten by the studio and the fans like Star Trek 5 was.

This is going to be cool. That's the be all and the end all of the situation. It'll be the kick in the balls that Star Trek (and the excessively nerdy fans who seem to just get over-excited* about TOS just for the sake of it being TOS) needs. It's a great concept but in recent years it's turned into a complete joke! Hopefully JJ Abrams will strip out the excessive crud and make it awesome again.

It's got to be about character, story, action and the ability to relate to what's on screen. NOT tachyon beams, quantum this and quantum that, making the ships look exactly as they were in the 60s and bad in-jokes.

Oh, and Zachary Quinto is so many levels of awesome.

thought this was funny

Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

This is what the new Enterprise is going to be:

Take a traditional, utilitarian front end and graft it onto a swoopy, modern rear-end.

I really don't see what's so funny about the cars.

My only complaint about the ship is that the secondary hull protrudes just oh a little weeny bit too far from the front of the neck but I think I will survive.

Well, the car I posted is a Chinese clone kitbash that essentially takes the front end of a boxy Pontiac Torrent and glues it to the body of a fairly "swoopy" Lexus RX350.

Do you see the connection now?

It might have been cute the first time someone did it. Not the third.

I'm reserving my judging on the Enterprise until I see it in motion.

So Bring on the trailer!

Go to trekmovie.com, and people are posting links for full trailers (low and high qualities).  You will see the Enterprise going to warp in the trailer, and the new bridge, Chris Pine's gold uniform, Kelvin getting its butt kicked, etc........I might have said too much :P.

AAAHHHHHHHH *squeals!* Me likey! Me likey lots!

but... a corvette? One older than ME, for that matter... in Kirk's day? o.o; Also, I likiez gabe's enterprise better. To me, at least, it matches better with the Kelvin, and I'm not fond of the 'neck' of this one, it just doesn't look right... but, anyway, I'm sure it's one of those things that'll grow on me over time. :]

See!

My only problem with the trailer is the way Jimmy Kirk shouts out his name (little angsty) but that's what I get for reading full spoilers of what the thing is about and having expectations in my head.

The traphic cop could have been less robotish and still come off as futuristic in my book. But other than that, it looks great.

That should be the Enterprise. It's got awesomeness written all over it.

Better look at all the fancy trailers. Despite everything, I'm liking the new Enterprise. WHY?
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

It should have been, but it's not. I was quite disappointed, actually...
