Hey DJ.  I have a question for you.

Are you going to have the collectors glowing inside the red exterior bulb?
I think they're called the "Bussard Collectors"...i think. :D  Not quite sure.

Anyway, I can get them to glow even with a translucent red exterior.

Could look interesting, what do you think?

Update.  i've finished up the basics of the bottom of the cobra head, and also worked out a bunch of smoothing issues on the underside of the saucer.  Also, i'm going to be collaborating with Cordanilus on doing a very special set of bussard collectors for this ship that should really bring it to life.  in the meantime, I've used CE's bussard texture as an interim for the WIP pix.  There's also a few other details on the first round that I've to put, like a few decals and thrusters on the nacelles.

So now it's just the insides of those nacelle pylons, and the first round of texturing is done.  This ship is gonna be just ridiculous once I'm done detailing it in 2008. :D

I've got to say at this point, that I'm really happy with the way this ship is turning out.  when I started the mesh a year ago, I didn't even have the strongest intentions of texturing it, but boy am I glad I decided to.  The Galaxy Class has always been how I benchmark myself.

actually I don't think you will.  It's only half the number of polys the Ent F was.  And it has 4 2048x2048 textures as well.  So if you had no problems running the EntF, then this won't be a problem.  i'll also be including 1024 and 512 size maps for older graphics cards as well.

I would, but it would require a lot of remapping for the lower poly models, and the textures aren't really built to fit anything that looks different.  It would probably look so horrible that no one would use them anyhow.

i can run 1 entF, but i am having a few problems with my cpu at the moment so that might be the reason why, but from what youve said i should be able to run your ship, not sure about 2048X2048, but most defiently the lower res textures
