here is the atraiu bussard.

I hope it helps, I used the dodge tool, with the blending etc, everything is on a sep layer so for animating and adjustments etc.

Both look good. I have taken a look at the Akira bussards and I have set mine up the same way as an ifl file.

If you allow me use of them as well I will of course credit you fully in the read me.

If you wan't to use my bussards feel free to. The setting up I was refering to is with the mesh itself. In the attached pic it shows how I would do it. It's a cross section of the bussard dome. The red line is the outer dome if the model which has the animated transparent texture applied. The black line is the part which glows, it is hidden inside the model and the reason there is a gap between the 2 is because i've noticed if the transparent layer is too close to the glow layer it can sometimes dissapear ruining the ellect.

Genty's bussards are the best I have seen so far. I highly recommend them. (Not that I don't like yours too marky! :P)

No insult taken mate, mine are a variation of a theme and are not intended otherewise, but Baz should aim for accuarcy and should use this as a ref only  :arms:

I have stuck on genty's bussards as detailed in his post. Thanks they look and work great.

I've also added to the saucer detail though not finished and tidyed the pendant on on the nacelles

The lines on the underside of the saucer should be far less pronounced.

It doesn't look like the transparency is set up correctly, if it was you would be able to see some red, green and blue, at the moment you can only see the rgb channel of the animation layer. You need you set up the transparency using the alpha channel of the tga files. If you are using Max, go to the material for the animated layer of the bussards and copy the diffuse map down to the opacity map. Next open the opacity map and change 'Mono Channel Output' to Alpha and 'RGB Channel Output' to Alpha as Gray. This should get them working correctly in renders. It should look more like this, it looks odd but looks much better in game.

I have re-assigned the animated bussard texture as per instructions and done some more refining to the windows.

I feel after the pylons are textured and a couple of other details added to the saucer I'm ready to do the final texture pass to get them to the final TGA files

I'm glad to of been able to help. They will probably need some fine tuning though when it gets ported to game, things such as the animation speed and spin direction. Hopefully they will port correctly, animated glows seems to be hit and miss at times.

It might just be my imagination but is the saucer texture darker than the rest of the hull?

it is the lighting, in fact the saucer is a light shade than the engineering hull. The base colours are temp, I've yet to add "imperfections" in the paint job. That will be the last thing I do as unfortunatly the best ref pics of the hull's "texture" is the last Smithsonian restore and we all know how much artisic licence was taken there. I will more likely go with a base battle ship grey with a little nosie variation in it to bring it out a bit.

Glad you're aware of that.

This looks fairly decent.  There are plenty of small inaccuracies, but as we all know, I'm a nitpicker.  :v:

Oh, and I spotted some unwelded verticies on the underside of the saucer in the first image (1.jpg) of your last post with images.  Just FYI. ;)

How are you porting it? I've had models working properly with those bussards before, that was using Max 3 though.
One thing to add, the rear domes on the nacelles don't actually glow on the actual filming model.
