It could beat a late TNG ship due to the fact it was modified with borg tech, if countdown is canon that is...

I am sure the Narada is no match for DJ's Eclipse... Is it???

You'll have to wait and see ;)

Besides your not taking into account that: -

A, the Sov was set to low AI
B, I'm not very good at the game, it was set to easy.

The Narada only has forward facing weapons that reload quick and a thick skin. So if you hide behind it an plug away then you have a good chance of beating it. I did get as close to the Sov as possible and lock it in a tractor beam to keep it in my sights.

I'd say Narada should be as powerful as Borg Sphere/Diamond and much more powerful than Scimitar, don't forget that Narada is simply Borg vessel, formerly Romulan mine ship but it was refitted with all those toys and whatsmore, Nero managed to take out Klingon armada with ease. Technicaly Kelvin shouldn't have whithstand even two hits (Enterprise wouldn't and so didn't both PrimeTNG and JJTos Klingon fleets)

Pretty sure the kelvin only survived since they wanted the captain for information, the klingon armada was the narada going full bore I guess, and that fedration fleet too.

Yeah but straight after Nero killed Kelvin's capn' they could've just set their torpedos/missiles to full yield and vaporize Kelvin with one shot but here you can see Kelvin holding his guts in one piece for more than a minute before loosing shuttlebay prior to collision... but hey it's all about cool GFX afterall and they wanted to show the struggle to survive, a tough little hero ship taking heavy beating to cover escape of it's crew, nothing more ;)

you forget.  nero and company were civillians by origin, not romulan millitary.  thus, they'd have been a bit softer.  also, his "outa time" setup which went with the mining ship (which most likely dates to after the Dominion war , and that's the old civillian mining vessel part!)

Bones, relax, and let some of us finish with em.

Well if we take Countdown seriously then Narada was virtually whole lot different ship before Tal Shiar slapped Borg tech onto it making it look like dozen of cramped tightly scissors :D I think it should be powerfull but no godship here so it should be close enough to Borg cube with no regenerative shields.

On that note we get back on topic before my thread ends up in an alternate universe tangent as well. :)

The Narada is ready to beta test.

I'm looking for one or two more people to take it for a spin.

Beta testing now closed.

Initial reports all positive.

Now if only I can get my specs working again I'll take some screen shots and get it uploaded by the end of the week.

Update on things: -

I have hit a major pain in the rear end.

In the new jjships I have made (including the Narada) I have used Mleo's race shipdef.

This was working well until I upgraded to KM 12.2009 beta and all my warp warm up scripts stopped working.

I have rolled back to KM1 (fresh install) and the warp warm up now works again but the custom sound files I have using my speices shipdef no longer work.

Does anyone know what is missing from KM1 that is included in the new KM beta that would make shipdef work?

So till this is sorted I'm stuck.

There shouldn't be a problem...I have KM1 and your Narada species def worked.

There must be something else I need.

I have done another clean install, patched and km1 installed.

I've loaded in the beta version of the narada and again no sounds

I have tried galaxy charts 2 but that causes the game to crash during warp

there is no soundpak for the warp sounds

you just have to stick them in a folder with the speices name in the warp fx folder in the nanofx2 scripts

I have KM 1.0, DS9FX, Galaxy Charts 2.0, and a butt load of ships.  Both your custom sounds and the Warp Warm up work on my install.
