I think it needs some sort of secondary hull similar to science ships from ST: Online.

Something like this? Its not a secondary hull per-say, but it has that feel to it in my opinion

Why not you realise two versions? With the secondary, like the first pic and with secondary, like the second pic. Both types are very good, *cookied*

Although that is a great idea, there is two problems

1. I like it better this way
2. I accidentaly overwrote the old style, although I probably could rebuild the parts I deleted.

P.S. Anyone want to texture this? I really don't know how to make textures  :idk: :help:

Here is an update, I have streamlined the secondary hull a bit more to give the ship a more streamlined appearance, I have also done some work on the bussards.

wish I had more texturing practice in.  i'm crap at aztecs, and have to keep asking Baz for advice :P  I also can't get a good match for other people's designs (my stuff looks too primitive for some people's tastes).  mabey Bones has some free time for texturing.

If he can texture and (when its finished) convert the model for use in game, I would be very very very happy, also, I have been working on some ideas for a hardpoint

4 forward Torpedo Tubes, 2 aft
Torpedo Load: 85 Quantum Torpedos (nem_quantum)
7 Type XV Phaser Emitters
Regenerative Shielding
Light Ablative Armour
Max. Warp Speed: Warp Factor 8.7
Max. Impulse Speed: (whatever it is on the CG sovie)

Ive also been working on the main deflector area

Another update, re-aligned the deflector, smoothed out the saucer a bit, and more work on those bussards.

Update: More work on Bussards, dropped smoothing from hull, just didn't look good. She's probably almost done, going to begin to drop alot of unneeded poly's on the inside of the ship.

I await further comments.

You really need to smooth that model out. I can understand a need for rough edges, but I shouldn't be able to count the polygons that make up your ship.

Smoothing groups is usually one of the last things sorted out on a model. The current "roughness" is because the model is still a WIP.

Well he did say he dropped smoothing from the hull because it didn't look good. Sounds like he wasn't planning on adding it back in.

If that is the case, then yes smoothing is definitely needed. Overuse of smoothing can make a ship look really bad, and lack of smoothing makes it equally bad. I await further development on this mod.

I don't know about this one, chucking sovvy nacelles on such an old hull design does not do it for me.. I would build your own nacelles to suit the ship. But keep up the good work.

Is he trying poly smooth groups or just mesh or trubo smooth?

I only use poly smooth, the other 2 just generally turn a mesh in to a blob.

noticed the name voter up there.  for pete's sake, don't put Enterprise H on that thing, you'll never hear the end of it from prequal haters :P

Markyd: if there was some way of designing nacelles that don't look sovvy, yet say 2400, I'd like to see it.  from what little bit I've seen of STO, the only really fresh design happens to be that little sphere headed ship (which I'm still dying to see someone convert).

I am in the process of reforming them to match what I am going for.

@King Class Scout: The reason I put Enterprise H in the list was for "returning to its roots"

P.S. Another update, added a touch of PDW Proxima

Did I mention im doing this with Google Sketchup, poly smooth ain't in the options list. When smoothed, It turns into a blob.
