E7's Retextures WIP ( Eximius Class )

Hello all

Well basicly i have so free time now and i want to start trying some retexture. As you can tell by the title Vlad's NX 91001 is first on my list to try out. I think i'll just explain the programs i use and what i use them for. This is so that anyone can pick up an easy way to do it.

So i use

- Inkscape ( Free vector software, i use it for the basic drawing out of the hull, aztecs and details )
- Gimp ( Free photo minipulation software, i use this for throwing all my vector exports together )
- Photoshop ( Not free, burnt a whole in my wallet, I will be usung this for the alpha channels )
- NanoFx Model Viewer ( Free modelviewer, I use it for viewing my textures on the model. All my screenshots are done in this )

So without any more typing i shall give you the first glimpse of my retexture. Note its note perfect and its taking a long time :P

Right last little update before i go bed, Tweaked the escape pods so there not in the phaser array, and i've started on the raised section at the back. I need to compensate for the phasers there aswell but thats a very rough start. Also please ignore the missing escape pods on the other side i didn't mirror them :P

Aaaand i didn't mention before but advice, method, critisisms, and feeback is greatly accepted :)

A clean model without smooth errors, just exported from max. Only needs to place the textures on the sections. (Don't worry the model is with the right UV map) :)

I've had my first succesful windows added and improved various parts of the hull. I've also been gathering ideas for the rest of the ship, should look alright if all goes well :)

A clean model without smooth errors, just exported from max. Only needs to place the textures on the sections. (Don't worry the model is with the right UV map) :)

Thanks i'll convert that later and keep working on it  :yay: What registry should this ship have?

the forgotten (sort of) cast member of TOS.  Grace Lee Whitney fought off an addiction (i believe) that had got her canned.  but she cameoed several times (and here biggest bit with trek outside of TOS was in the flashback anniversary ep of Voyager)  still, i think she should have a nod.

I think there is no need of the windows on the thicker hull plates (the place(like ring)the darker armour) because there the windows are on the top of the rooms and there is no logic :P (just advice, i hope you understood me) :)

Thanks, i've impressed myself with how well its came out. You should see my previous 2 attempts of retexturing  :hithead: awful is an understatement for those :P

Ok the top of the saucer is nearing completion, i'm just wondering whether to have the registry in a different place compared with the sovereign. Any suggestions? I have one idea i'm trying.

So at the moment i've started on the nacelles, I've also made the thicker hull look alot more armoured and darker, and given the front windows a green glow, just an idea backed up by some waffle i made up :P, Basicly something to do with power to the thicker hull. Otherwise i think the windows are done.

So now its eye candy time...

@Vladko1 the model with the fixed errors is actually abit worse after i've finished converting it, so i'm gonn ahave to stick with the one i've got.  :idk:

Anyways, apart from the registry the top of the saucer is done, a few windows i may remove later, and perhaps a better spec map. Now i'm going to move onto the enginerring section. See what you think.

You may want to be careful with the consistency of the hull plating. On some sections, like where the registry will go, you've got a lot of small hull plates, but on the outer edge of the saucer, there are less and far larger. Just something you might want to consider. :)

Well it was my attempt of armour plating, since i think thats the main ida Vlad was trying to get across with his textures.

Try to smooth the saucer again, with automatic smooth groups option then ;) If you are using Max, with around 0.30 smooth should smooth everything without errors :P Good job btw :P

Thanks dude, I just converted it thorugh blender. Max would make me bankrupt :P

That sounds about right. Sooo now i give you my first ever attempt of a registry, i read a few tutorial.. picked bits out and stuck them together. By the way does anyone have any tutorials on registry lights. Anyway some pics.......

No, its not a Noble class, the one without the pod is a Noble Class. This ship is the "Online Class" in other words, it has no name.

Vlad, the USS Noble is a Noble Class, This ship does need a name, but i disagree with Noble seeing that that's a totally different class of ship.
And there is something about STO being canon because it was endorsed by CBS or something.
