The NCC Excelsior and the Enterprise-B now have in-warp lit nacelles. I love it when things work. :D Now to work on the TNG HPs. Looking at reference pics I just now noticed that the Lakota does not have registry lights on the saucer or on the engineering hull. Should I keep them lit?

I was wondering if you still were planning on doing all cannon registeries for the Excelsior and refits, using ID swapping or will it just be the Excelsior (NX and NCC), Enterprise-B and Lakota?
I could do all the registries, but honestly, who uses all of those ships? I could make a few extra ships that were used frequently in the series, like the Crazy Horse, Melbourne, Hood, Valley Forge, and maybe Righteous for fun. I also have the engine warm-up script working. I'll start adding this to the other Excelsior ships.

People seem to ask for the Hood everytime a new Excelsior mod is released. Personally, I don't know why the Hood is such a fan favorite, or can't remember, but heres a list that may go over very well:

USS Excelsior (NX and NCC)
USS Enterprise-B
USS Lakota
USS Hood
USS Valley Forge
USS Crazy Horse

And your Centaur

That would probably be the best way to please Excelsior fans. It all looks awesome though.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

If memory serves, the USS Hood was the ship Commander Riker served on before accepting a position as First Officer on the Enterprise.

I would say keep them lit on the following basis: The only reason none of the ships had lit registries in the DS9 battle scenes is because with throwing so many of them together - especially considering they would probably be blown up shortly after you saw them anyway - the SFX people probably wanted to save on costs. That's my theory, anyway.

A fair few TNG Era ships had no registry lighting, including the Galaxy class. I say leave it unlit on the Lakota, it was shot with a physical model in the show, and was before the Dominion war broke out, so they must have had a reason for not lighting the registry.

All Excelsior registries will be illuminated. It also saves time on removing the lights on the alpha channels.

Hopefully, I'm answering this question correctly. The top part of the nacelle on the studio model does not glow and it's the same for the DS9 versions, so I added a faint glow to it.

If memory serves, the USS Hood was the ship Commander Riker served on before accepting a position as First Officer on the Enterprise.

The running story behind the Hood was that it was the TNG era's most famous ship and crew. In all three of the shows during that era, the captain (Picard, Sisko, and Janeway) show their respect for DeSoto as being alongside Kirk as one of the greatest captains in Starfleet. The Hood itself was inserted into TNG's first episode by Gene Roddenberry himself as a tribute to one of his favorite naval vessels.

That's why the Hood is a fan favorite :).
