Ablative armour? Or, a custom texture and say that it's a new super strength alloy or something. Or a new type of armour, maybe.

Thicken them. See how big & beefy the Mithra's pylons are? You could try similar, only about 50% the width of Mithra's and get rid of the the modules with the cuts and simply have the cuts inset into the pylons themselves.... it's just a thought. Idk how good it would look on this though... but they definitely could be thickened a little bit.

Awesome MVAM action btw. I dare say I like the look of the ship better WITHOUT the primary saucer! xD haha, that's just my odd tastes though.

As someone said recently in regards to a modelling suggestion I made:

Due to that DJ has already mapped out most of the ship already, I doubt he'll do any major model changes. Personally, I think the pylons look just fine.

I'd tried to give those pylons a look of extra strength by adding some thick ribbing to them... for you pleasure. 8)

... and a bit more, with details added to the ventral side, with ribbing along the bottom of the saucer... tho still plenty of work to be done, especially to that ventral saucer.

nacelles and the bottom side of the shuttle platform still need textures. plus a few other areas.

muted the color of the escape pods somewhat.
adjusted the overall ship's hull tone a few shades lighter.
removed the saucer penants.
textured the torpedo launcher tubes.

I expect to be finished texturing this ship either tomorrow or Wednesday. end of the week at the latest.

If you want to get anal on the details..you need to add those docking clamp hatches (I believe they are opposing trapezoids, grouped in pairs) where the 2 sections meet...we saw them on the ent-d a couple times.

From the bottom, the pylons look fine. From the top, they look like matchsticks.

Another thing that's there are the phaser strip markings on the insides of the nacelles. ^^

You might have to remap your textures there :/

i know about those phaser markers. i'm going to put something in there to make them look purposeful as there's no more room on the map and I don't want to have more maps.

also, there are orthos on one of the first few pages.
