Well, I see someone's been busy. Very nice, and cookied.
Nice ships, I like the ID4 City Destroyer. How big is it going to be compared to a Galaxy and stuff? Want me to make a shield for it?I will try to scale these ships to be as realistic as possible, within BC standards. 15 miles long will be a huge ship. It will be bigger than a borg cube. Go ahead and make a shield texture for it. Please note- I haven't started texturing yet, so it will be a while before it gets ingame.
are the textures on the Enterprise-J temporary? are there any weapon emplacements? The current textures are final. The Ent-J is just for fun, and not taking it seriously. It will be scaled to be 1.5 times bigger than the Ent-E. The ship will not have phaser bands like the Ent-D, it will have turrets. Plus, I don't want this thread to become an "Ent-J: Is it canon?" thread.
*ties samurai to a tree* :arms:
One day wiley, youve gotta teach me some of your tricks. :p
I wouldn't mind learning how to model like this! For saucers, use spheres, but move the rows of points to form a saucer-like shape. Sharp edges don't look that good in BC, use champhered boxes with a fillet of .2. The Excelsior engineering was a tapered sphere, and probooleaned in half. Plus, it is always good to get full schematics of the ship whenever possible, as well as reference pics to make a very accurate model.
Damnit Wiley, that's not fair!Sorry, what do you mean by me not being fair? Was there a secret modeling contest or something? Oh yea, thanks for the cookie :).
I'm thinking about starting on some of the smaller ID4 ships- the troop transport and the alien fighter.
They came with floppy disks with mini games, anyone remember them?)
I can only imagine a swarm of them mauling a Sovvie. How about a couple of borg cubes versus the mothership?

The toy I have (I still have all of the pieces) you knock down New York skyscrapers with a small city destroyer which shot little plastic balls. It also included a little alien fighter and an F-18 fighter. The whole thing was inside of the the alien's heads which opened up to reveal the city.QuoteI can only imagine a swarm of them mauling a Sovvie. How about a couple of borg cubes versus the mothership?
As for the Cubes vs. the mothership, is that really fair to the Trek universe?Of course it is not fair, it is just for some gaming fun. ID4 is not the Trek universe- the future would be drastically different.
QuoteAn Akira class or a proto-Enterprise C is tempting..............wiley...please dont tease us without screens lol^^
awesome work on the models. 'bout time for a Enterprise J

Need some help with it though... and for some reason, the ship pack it's for isn't showing up in game.
The ship will got done when I have time to work on it. I don't plan to convert it for Legacy. Plus, someone has already released a retextured TOS Constutition in the style of Gabe's.
I've finished up the textures on the Enterprise-J. :D Where should the phasers be?
Well, either way, I like Wiley's work! :)
Here's a little update on the saucer textures. Here is a plain viewpoint render, and the original textures were not duck egg blue, they were a VERY light gray. The pic that Adonis was showing- the "gridlines" that he saw were just heavy aztecing, and this went between the actual almost invisible gridlines. I've added those panels to the texture. Enjoy! :D
I don't have max 3.

Great job, Wiley!

I will.....after work though. :)
Somehow I'm starting to like her.
Oh, and just out of curiosity, when more images are either released or better quality screens are taken from the new trailer, are you going to possible start modeling the bridge?
Oh, and if you need help texturing, I really would love to help be part of this beauty. Thanks for the offer, but I think I can texture this ship myself. I might release this ship for Legacy also, but I have no clue how to. Once I get the mesh for the Enterprise done, I'll probably start on the Kelvin.
.....The Enterprise needs a shuttlebay.

The impulse engines are seperated and the back of the nacelles are pretty much flat from what I can tell. Also have some reference material of the Kelvin which I will post when I upload them to FF(eight images and I don't want to make two posts). So upload 1, and zip the rest.
Here's a ship I've been working on for a while- Gabriel Koerner's Reimagined Enterprise
I guess I could starting building the Kelvin. It looks easy to build. :)
Will the Kelvin have phaser turrets that pop out at red alert? That will probably have to be an MVAM function, or I could build two seperate ships.
Just out of curiosity, are you going to make the new shuttles as well?
Don't suppose your making it NanoFX Evolved-compatible? :PI don't know how that all works. Who knows, maybe I'll be contacted soon about converting it. I'm also planning on doing a Lakota variant as well.
What is with you and always updating your Excelsior model Wiley? Not that I'm complaining mind you. :DI just wanted to see if I could build it. This is the same model that I first posted in September (with some minor adjustments). It is going to be my High-res Excelsior for higher-end computers.....I think it is currently around 45k polys. Some people would criticize the poly amount......I could think of a few people. I was tired of people using old ships and kitbashes of old ships, so I built this one so that it would last much longer in terms of detail and quality. More importantly, this ship is retexture friendly. :D
Question is, can the game handle it? :P
Just like my Enterprise-J, the Excelsior is also having nif exporting problems. Crap. :(
*sighs* This just means Taxtime I have to get a new computer :(
Good job though
I will not be taking requests for ships.

And that's... bad? xD
Very nice work, Wiley. As always, you've managed to impress me greatly. Keep up the good work!
I just wonder if there's a single ID texture for SDTThere is no ID texture swapping. To me, that just makes extra work.
Fantastic Excelsior, Wiley. Personally my favorite is the Enterprise-B variant. Any updates on the Kelvin or Enterprise? Perhaps a little taste as a holiday gift for us?
indeed - please never ever ever ever ever ever ask for updates of any mod... when there are updates, the author will post them... asking for updates will only annoy the modders and the moderators lolAny updates on the Kelvin or Enterprise? He'll update us when he's ready; he's rather busy these days, as many of us are. :] Patience, friend.
asking for updates will only annoy the modders and the moderators lol.....thus locking the thread.
Fantastic job with the Enterprise J, I hope the rest of your ships go that smoothly.I very happy that no one had any problems. The Excelsior is my next ship to be released, once it is converted. When it is converted, it will be easier to make the Lakota variant.
You guys should all be really glad this guy is around.absolutely!
How's the mesh itself shaping up?It's currently at 12.4k polys, but it's 5.7k polys when selecting "editable poly." The mesh has considerably less details compared to my Excelsior. Before anyone says this- I will model in the TMP phaser emitters.
You think you could do a "Kelvin-prise" like Tobias did too?please dont make requests...
I will say this- my Trek XI ships (hopefully) will be completed on or before the movie comes out. I'm not promising. Wow, a money offer, umm....shouldn't there be a warning given to people who offer money?

I know ive pm'd you a couple times trying to get some updates on when it will be relasedplease do not ever PM a modder asking them these things...
when a modder has anything to post about a project, they will post them; even if a bit of time passes between the last thing said...
asking these things is really a bother and is considered rude as it applies unnecessary pressure to the modder who is doing these things in their own free unpaid time...
so please never ask these things of any project, as to an update or a release date...
it is all about patience and respect...
thx :)
Weapons use FTech?I have never scripted anything for FTech......I might need someone to help me.
Shouldn't TOS era ships have blue colored phasers on federation ships? The CANeghVar1.wav sounds great for the phasers. Usually TOS era ships have blue phasers, but in the Trek XI universe, the Kelvin fires red phasers, and blue pulse weapons. I would also like to add that I don't want this thread to become a USS Kelvin-canon issue. You can always change the weapons on your install when the ship is released.
Will you release that with the Kelvin or release at all?I'll release it separately.
I present you the USS Kelvin. :)
I present you the USS Kelvin. :)
Nice, have you seen the ST11 desktop backgrounds? theres some nice close shots that shot some cool details; for instance patches of paint missing from the registry, they might be worth adding
Quick idea Wiley:Actually, the Kelvin-prise was first built by The Light Works, none of it was my idea- I only built the BC mesh.
1701 Concept pack release:
1. First schematic design (AKA Koener-prise)
2. Second Schematic design (A.K.A J.J-prise)
3. Final designers choice (A.K.A Wiley-prise)

And I was the one that suggested it on SciFi-Meshes. hahaAt first, I thought you were taking credit for everything. You were just giving ideas, sorry. There are many variants I can make using the Kelvin parts. Downside, is that max stinks at converting to nif (mesh is stretched/scrunched up).
I also suggested a Bonaventure class
and Miranda kit-bash.
Downside, is that max stinks at converting to nif (mesh is stretched/scrunched up).:( Dang, it's going to be fun trying to export my remodeled Soulwolf. :D Great work Wiley, you inspire me. +krama
The turrets will always stay on the hull. MVAM will probably be difficult to do. I like to keep it simple.Probably the best thing.
My new soundpack works great with no problems.Just make sure you properly beta test it. ;)
somehow i overlooked those pix of the Kelvin and Kelvin-prise. Nice work Wiley. I love them both.
I'll release it separately.
Wiley, I've finished the hp for the courageousthe courageous? which one was that?
I think the secondary hll hull has a really stupid shape, I hate it.Well then, how can I improve it without looking too dated like the 60's version?

I've yet to actually use one for a full Trek mesh, but I've been doing some research into alternative modelling methods recently, and that was awesome!
Why the yellow bussards? That is just the temporary object color. The bussards will definitely NOT be yellow. I am texturing the ship now, and I might post pictures later today/tonight.
:shock:Wow!, It looks just like the picture paramount released.

Put a good word in for me, okay?
Huh, buddy ole-pal?
No RCS thrusters Wiley? Didn't the reference pic have a lot more detail on the nacelles.I still haven't added the thrusters yet, I will add them. Thanks for noticing the nacelles. I will add the additional detail. Also, I plan to have the bussards animated. I have done a successful test following the tutorial posted on these forums, and I'm using Genty's bussard textures (see TOS Akira for reference) as a base for the one's I'm altering.
soon there will be a STAR TREK XI ship pack LOLThat's still a long ways to go.
Are you going to keep the oranginess in the bussards?I'll decide on that when it's ingame, but right now, that's what it looks like lit up.
What weapons will this beauty equipped with?I don't know yet. It's not ingame yet.
I like the color of the bussard collectors. It may not be what it ends up being in the movie, but it looks good to me.At least it satisfies everyone for the time being. :)
Now all we need to do is get someone to get on the bridge. :pthe chances of a new bridge made for BC (from modeling, thru all the steps to ingame bug-free working) is slim to none, so youll just have to be happy with the ship only :)
If only the Dalek would ship her out. :P
Now all we need to do is get someone to get on the bridge. :pEnough with the bridge. There is simply not enough reference to make one from scratch. You might at least retexture an existing one.
Textures and speculars are finished. :D Now, it's time to convert the ship so it's BC playable. Wish me luck!Good LUCK :D
I'm sorry to add one more small nitpick...the blue impulse engines...shouldn't they be red or orange? I'm not that worried about though the ship looks great regardless.
Looks excellent. I only have a couple of nitpicks that you can ignore at your leisure. Razz The registry. It's the right font, but the U.S.S. Enterprise is curving the wrong way. It should be curving towards the bridge, not the saucer edge. But as I said, this is a small thing and doesn't detract from what is a gorgeous work of art. To quote a certain actor who once played a certain starship captain, "she is ship-shape." Very Happy
Also, notice in the screen cap that "U.S.S. Enterprise" is off center. :)
By golly he's right! :P Honestly, that was very early on, so they've probably fixed that by now. Either way, the original 1701 had the name curving towards the bridge, so it only follows that this one would as well.

No it didn't. The name part of the registery was dead straight on the TOS Connie aswell.
At the very least, you can save the animated maps for a v2 if necessary.True. I just realized that I completed this ship from beginning to ingame (beta) in less than a week. Wow. But that does not mean I work this fast all the time.
And I'm gonna guess that the HP is going to be a more powerful version of the Kelvin?Yep. I'm thinking blue version of the Kelvin's phasers or a blue version of tmp phasers. I like the torpedoes from Phaser's TCMP Tos Canon Pack.
16 textures. Tried both ifl files during export and manually changing the nif in NifSkope to add the NiFlipController needed. Nothing worked :(They worked on his TOS Akira.
They worked on his TOS Akira.Lint did the animations on the TOS Akira- not me.

you need to do something about the yellowness of the turrets, which look god awfull in that pic. Try making them just a few shades lighter than the hull, so you can see them, but they don't stick out rediculously like those do. You could apply the same to the courageous bash.
Whats the poly count on that Excelsior now?The mesh that limey98 exported was my detailed one, so the ingame model is 41k polys, and smooooth. This is mainly meant for higher-end computers, because of the textures and poly detail.
awesome but does it damage well??It damages just fine.

Not sure about the Federation stripes on the secondary hull and warp nacelles since they arn't in the high res picture Paramount released. Glad to see you got rid of the registery on the underside of the deflector dish though. That thing stood out like a sore thumb, lol.
This looks as good as it gets fellas.? The only way to get more canon is for Paramount to release schematics/orthographic views of the ship.? Top notch work Wiley, indeed worth of the name Enterprise.

Urm, yeah. I've known that for years. Not a n00b anymore you know, lol.
First, sorry if I caused any trouble. No problem. It nice to know that I have a few fans. This starbase will be a great improvement compared to the older ones. It will make lots of people very happy. I just want to make sure for the other people on the forum that this thread is not a reference thread. It's just comments and critiques of my models.
Second, I think a new spacedock is long overdue
the engineering section looks slightly too wide.It might be a little wide. The engineering section was tricky to model. I used these schematics for the modeling.
I can't wait to try all your stuff out...I check this thread everyday for updates.
You're going to even out those spotlights eventually, right?
Again, good work on all of this so far and good luck getting things like the ginormous spacedock competed. For this version, I wouldn't say ginormous, because this one is scaled to fit most TMP ships. A P81 Excelsior is shown here for size comparison. A large spacedock of the same configuration would fit TNG ships. The doors on on this version are large enough for an Ambassador class.
.ever seen Galaxy Quest?Don't get me started, and don't request ships. They will come eventually.
JEEEEEBUS!
How far'd you have to walk to get a beer in that place!? xD
Is there a docking script planned for this? The only hard part of Docking , is making sure things are lined-up, and function well ingame!
Or will we have to practice flying any TMP ship in manually?

Have you been doing anything with the Trade Fed droid control ship? That ship will have similar styling to the spacedock. I haven't done anything to it yet.
What's the count on that sexy beast?30.1k polys, and I haven't added the phaser emitters or the saucer rcs thrusters yet.
Can you do a USS Righteous and a USS Hood registry for the Excelsior class?I plan to have the Excelsior use IDmap swapping, but I haven't started on that yet.
QuoteWhat's the count on that sexy beast?30.1k polys, and I haven't added the phaser emitters or the saucer rcs thrusters yet.
Are you planning to model in the arboretum? Or will you be leaving that to some clever texturing? You make a good point. I'll see if I can model it in (if I have no serious mesh errors) and maybe add a few trees inside it too- that's never been done before.
WoW...two great connies...curious to see which one will emerge victorious...and only one modeller ever attempted to model the Arboretum and it was P81 way back in the day...of course his model then was spectacular..but can't hold a candle to this one...
I was thinking more recently... :?
lol, Khalibans version is newer then P81's.Yep, but both didn't include trees. :) Adding the interior room, and a few dozen basic trees, brings the polycount to 33.6k.
Seriously Good work on the Connie, I hate youFor the most complex shapes, FFD modifiers will be your friend. Always build parts in pieces and don't connect them together until you are pleased with the final shape. I plan to make the other TMP ships that use the same Connie components if I have time.
It would most likely screw your poly count up but you welcome to use my botanical garden mesh to stick in her. Thanks, but I'll just texture the floor, and use that picture for reference and change the position of trees to fit. Plus, it's such a small area, you won't have a lot of detail there anyway.

Good idea on the tutorial, I'll try to make one. Hmm, how does basic starship construction sound?
Maybe it is just me but I sense a trend here. First I make a JJPrise then Wiley follows suit, I start a spacedock then Wiley follows suit! And I make a Connie re-fit and Wiley follows suit. I'm sensing a pattern here. I'm looking forward to his Phobos lol.

Tobias Richter started his. Of course, Tobias' JJPrise is made of pure win, but that's beside the point.
Sorry for the Off Topic, but who is this Tobias, his name sounds familiar.Tobias Richter is the person who built the awesomely detailed USS Kelvin, and got noticed by JJ Abrams for doing such a nice job.

nice touch wiley. i really like how you baked in the glows. Thanks for the comments. Everyone has been saying that I "baked" in the glows.......I did not. All the ships are about finished...I'm trying to change the fTech script so it is used just for the JJrprise, because the Ashton ship is using the same script too.
how did you achieve the blue glow effect on the nacelles?Trial and error. :)
It looks like it's textured on.Yep.
Thank Adonis. He was the one who made that FTech script in the first place. I think. I'm not 100% sure.
PS: Awesome update. I can't wait to see your Ent Refit and/or Ent-A textures.
On a modding note:I'll probably rebuild the ship since we now have more views of her. Plus, Tobias Richter has those awesome rendered wallpapers. I'll release the Trek XI ships fairly soon.
Wiley, you've got some re-texturing to do for your Trek XI Enterprise, lol.

looking forward to them.Great! I also thought it would be nice to release them 2 months before the movie is in theaters.
Nice dude, I'm liking the detail you're putting into it.Thanks. Also, the Trek XI ships are now working on BCfiles.
Geez, how do you work so fast?A year of practice, and good time management.
It looks finished already!I couldn't agree more. :D And it's 31.1k polys.
For the released Kelvins and JJPrise's, are there blank ID textures so we can mak our own? Just interested, and it would add greater variety.I just sent the files to BCfiles. This includes HIGH res textures for all of the ships (JJprise, Kelvin, Kelvinprise) and blank textures also.
Here's the wireframe. I warn you, it may not be pretty.
please no one but Wiley post after this post (no matter how long it takes) and the thread can go on from there...I'll allow this one.
would u mind sharing some of ur secrets??Sure. :) To start off, the FFD modifiers will your friend and don't be afraid to use them-- they pretty much do the "sculpting" work for you. The new nacelles are in 3 main parts. The main section is a cylinder with about 10 height segments. The upper part is a sphere, and the lower section is another cylinder and both have been cut to shape. Just build everything in sections and don't do everything at once.
Come to think of it, what's the polycount now? Has it changed? The polycount is now 32.6k polys. Of all the reference available (DON'T POST ANY) the nacelles are closer than normal than the usual TOS Connie. Then again, this is a different universe.
Sweet Jesus! Can I say that again? I like big time!Umm....thanks. :D I hope I got that engineering section modeled correctly(from what we know already). ......DON"T POST REFERENCE PICS.
But I'm sure the ends of the nacelles were different...I also added some design aspects from Tobias Richter's model. They are good for me.
Nice one wiley, you actually make the design look good ;)ya no doubt!
......DON"T POST REFERENCE PICS.
Two things that bug me.Oh well, the ship has about all the details and main structures that it could have. Lots of people already like my previous version despite all the inaccuracies. Everyone should be happy that I made a good attempt to build the JJEnterprise. :)
The trouble is trekies are the worlds biggest nit-pickers.
(aside from the above angle, the nacelles still look too close together...).
As a fellow builder of a jjprise, I know what a pain the a$" this ship could be. The trouble is trekies are the worlds biggest nit-pickers.
For me until there are more conclusive plans of the ship this will be the definative version in my books.
i'll ask something i dont think any one else has, that'll make it valid .. will it over write the old oneI'll try to not overwrite the old one. This one uses higher res textures and is high poly wise, and people like the the lower poly one. I try to keep my ships around 30k polys.
Hey Wiley what font did you use for the Reg?Microgramma Medium (the thinner one) vertically stretched a little bit and used a few strokes for the outlines.
i think theres a reg under the front side of the saucer - any one else noticed that?If you want, send me a reference pic via a PM.....don't post it here. If it was from the newest trailer, that one shows the weird upside down camera angle of the top saucer (some will think it is the bottom).
Are you getting tired of all of the tiny, nitty questions being asked on a model that could not really be any more accurate with the available reference? My nitpick is the back of the neck section. It is not very flat, but it does have the right detail including spotlights. Those model pics from that QuantumMechanix model display really helped.
sleep. much?Yes, I do sleep. I sleep very well. :)
Oh, that the one that Probert drew up when making concepts for the Ent D?Yep. And I have all the reference available- even 3d views of the upcoming resin kit. I always thought it was a nice ship combining the Excelsior and Galaxy class.
hell ya! im so thrilled youre doing this one! :DQuoteOh, that the one that Probert drew up when making concepts for the Ent D?Yep. And I have all the reference available- even 3d views of the upcoming resin kit. I always thought it was a nice ship combining the Excelsior and Galaxy class.
It could be argued its a PDW Ambassador refit...cos thats what it looks like!Hmm....post dominion war...makes sense. Ships tend to get a bit more streamlined in the future.

for reals?Yep, and it is supposed to be in 1:1400 scale. The JJEnterprise is now ingame and it is smoooooooooooooooth. :D
No bussard fans this time around then?Though they do exist on the actual ship from the movie, you can barely see them anyway, even on Richter's model. I can still add that faint gridded covering.

Its a personal flaw that I am working on, lol. You're ok. :) I might add the fans in other JJConnies.

Will the hardpoint be different to the one seen in the JJPrise v2? Just to add a little extra spice rather than a normal TMP hardpoint.Right now, it is using the JJprise v2 hardpoint as a temporary file. I am going to change the phaser textures and torpedoes so it is more like the trailer/movie. I might combine some sfx to be like a TOS/TMP hybrid. For the bussards, I might create an optional texture for people who don't like the blue one.
It'd sure be nice if they'd actually show the torpedoes in the trailers. The closest thing to reference is the teaser pic of Star Trek D.A.C. It shows blue torpedoes.
I like the "blue blob" look. Something a little like a shot of plasma looks much better than the TMP dot with swirling lines IMO.I kind of liked the TOS torpedoes that came with Phaser's TCMP.
Holy sweet Jesus!! Enterprise is beyond boned! The primary weapon is already opened, and currently no fighter support. I'll say the Enterprise has a good change of defeating this "new" enemy. :)
Have you made the ID4 fighters and the ID4 mothership aswell? Then it would be complete. Its looking awesome. Too bad it won't get the chance to grace FileFront with its presence. Those are the last 2 things I still have yet to build. For uploading, I'll just upload them to mediafile and put a link in the downloads page here at BCC. BCfiles traffic will slowly go here since this is the only BC site/forums available right now.
So how big is the mothership gonna be?I don't really know. It was hard enough to get the city destroyer ingame. I might just leave the city destroyer out, because they probably were never meant to battle in space. The Mothership will be much like a normal-sized spacedock, maybe a little bigger.
The only bad thing about the ID4 ships is how few weapons they have. The city destroyers only have the one weapon, the fighters have the two blasters, and we don't even know if the troop transports and mother ship are armed. Hmmm...
Oh wow... good luck with that.Thanks. :) I'll just add plenty of coils/tubes, "tentacles", and raised paneling to cover up the inner "blob". It's not really difficult.
Building the impossible: Nero's Narada warship. :D I have Star Trek: Countdown #3 as reference. I'm just making it up as I go. This mesh is just to get the basic shape going before I get to the nitty-gritty. I still have much more to add to it.
Dang it Wiley, you're giving me video ideas!I did this for fun. :)
I'm not very good at HPs.
The HP will have pulse weapons as well as torpedoes. I'm not very good at HPs.
Pfft! You did well enough with the first JJPrise and the Kelvin, as well as all your previous releases. Quit being modest.Well, Tiqhud helped me.
So, will you be wanting help with Hp? I'm willing.Ok. Be patient, because I still need to get the ship textured and put ingame. I'm going to use ZZ's Valdore HP as a temporary HP, because it uses green torpedoes and pulse weapons. I want to make the video showcasing the TREK XI ships- I have many ideas.
bc always prefers a unified mesh.Ok, I'll try one more way. :)
Stupid Romula-Borg pinecone.A spikey pine cone that is having the hardest time trying to get ingame.
I hope he does all available names and releases a pack.
I hope he does all available names and releases a pack.
Not really, i mean for columbia all you need is a colour change...
So you're basically saying he should re-do the NX pack?Yes, that will be a lot to do. If I were to do a pack, I would include the Enterprise, Columbia (deflector modification, slight retexture), Terran Empire version, and maybe the USS Intrepid (look for it a st-builder.de and you'll see what I mean). I still have not textured the ship yet, and I probably not do a pack. It depends on the mood I'm in. :)
Wouldn't that be a little much?

How about making the Enterprise from E2(E Squared).
That would also be a a lot of work. Not only that, but little reference other than what's in the episode. For the Intrepid, here's the link-
Wiley, just a suggestion, why not model the phase cannons in a similar way you did with the Kelvin.Though the phase cannons are similar to the Kelvin's, they are much smaller and I do not want to raise the polycount any higher.

a unified mesh is the most important thing in BC model building.Besides boolean/probooleaning the mesh together, which has its limits, I have to delete the unneeded verticies and weld verticies together. Am I right? :)

It might require some rebuilding, but if it damages, it should hopefully be worth itI really didn't want to rebuild the whole ship again, and texture it. The next best thing would be to tweak the ship's py file so that structural damage is off, but hull burning still exists.
Yikes...why did they have to design a ship that's such a pain in the butt? It's not the designer's fault, it's mainly my fault (lack of clean modeling skills). It will look good for beauty screenshots though.

Your Narada looks brilliant too, hope you get it working! The Narada has been put on hold, until I can get some of my other projects out of the way first.
Cant wait buddy. looks intense.Thanks. :) I also included low, medium, and high res textures, so that everyone can enjoy the ship, or at least blow it up.
That's a sweet ship, they should replace the posters with your version.I wouldn't say that quite yet. :) I saw a store display (which I put my name on) and it had high quality renders of the top and bottom angles of the Enterprise, and it was awesome.

I'm currently adding blinkers to the WCJJEnterprise hardpoint. There will be 2 hardpoints- one plain with no slipstream, and the other has all of the bells and whistles: blinkers with slipstream.
Just FYI, there's a nav light under the shuttle bay "lip" that was seen in one of the recent clips. And I'm guessing that what we saw in that pic you posted earlier is this ship's slipstream?I added the nav light. :) That is the new slipstream texture. Here are some final pics. 8)
Did you ever fix that annoying problem of the nacelles not damaging very well in the game? The nacelles damage better than they did before, but they are not 100% perfect. It's more like 80%.
I know you want it as accurate as Possible, but you should leave it because, this is your rendetion.
I know you want it as accurate as Possible, but you should leave it because, this is your rendetion.Actually, the pylon re-map texture change was easier than I thought it was. The rest of the changes will be easy also. All I have to do is duplicate and mirror the pylon to the other side and save.
But if you decide to change it anyway, you can get alot of good views from the model gallery on the official siteI know, and I already have it as a favorite.
Would you include darkened bussards as an alternate texture for those of us who prefer the powered down look? Thanks for reminding me.
How do I give cookies? After you reach a certain post count. I'm not sure of the exact number. Don't worry, I'll do it for you. :)
I can't really move the torpedo launcher, because it's actually part of the neck. The torpedoes do clear the nacelle ingame. Also, the nacelle provides some protection.
great model (as your own interpretion as it's clearly not the one Andrew Probert designed.)I'm not so sure about that-
I don't this would look good in Ambassador blues. Maybe a mix with the majority of it Galaxy grey?I think the reason why the impulse engines are placed like that are to reflect the Excelsior impulse location and the Ent-A shape. The ship would probably be textured in gray-blues and not brightly colored like the actual Ambassador class. I also figured that the Proto-Amb. will have around 27 decks. It's nice to have a chart so when texturing, the decks will be evenly spaced.
Looks real nice mate, good jobThank you. :) I added some extra phaser emitters, and a new deflector dish. I also rendered up some orthos of my JJ Enterprise_v2 (or version 3 according to my WIPs). Enjoy!
some orthos of my JJ Enterprise_v2. Enjoy!
I thought it was the v3? You said it enough to get it stuck in my head. For downloadable ship versions, it is version 2 (when it is actually the version 3 buildup). I could add some nacelle grille details, since I am below 15k polys.
....What are nacelle grilles?Nacelle grilles are lines or segments that compose the outer covering for the blue section of a warp engine. Same thing could be said for a defector dish.
And the P-Ambie looks awesome.no doubt! im really enthusiastic about this one! :D :dance
Did I mention before that it looked like something PDW?I don't know what you mean. PDW?
...do the escape pods show?

I think we are both on the same amount of JJprises. Both have one that never made it to release, our V2's released and as for the V3's mine just released and yours about to be launched makes the grand total of 6 JJprises started, and two released between us.

I posted the JJprise V3 on BCfiles last night, and it hasn't been posted on the main site. I guess we will all have to be patient.
Galaxy and Ambassador escape pods aren't that interesting. Maybe you could make a mix with your own creative flair?
I've started work on texturing the underside of the saucer. Enjoy! :)Can't think of any post more important Wiley! :D Very nice Ambassador.

Pretty neat! I like the Ambassador colors toned down like that.I do like the colors myself. We could alll thank Adonis for posting the website that has the color charts are navy and airforce. You can't fail with those colors.
where'd u get them??In the tutorials section. The website also provided RGB as well as hex code for accurate coloring.

Oh, and use the hex chart, it's more accurate than the RGB valuesI do use the hex charts. It's nice to have a preset grouping of colors to use.

Is it my imagination or is that phaser [expletive] huge? It's like a really smooth mountain range. From the references I have, the phaser emitters do look that big. The smoothing will make the phasers look like a mountain range, when it is more like a plateau, there it is slanted at both sides and flat at the top. I should start texturing them so that they will not look as weird.
.....wow that wen't way over your head...Can't think of any post more important Wiley!
What about posts 42, 47, and 327?
hey wiley are you gonna fix up the enterprise from the new movie..apparently its 700 meters don't believe meUntil we get some "true" dimensions, the JJ Enterprise will be the same size as the refit constitution.
Until we get some "true" dimensions, the JJ Enterprise will be the same size as the refit constitution.
How are those textures coming?I've started work on the engineering section. The deflector texture is from the SNS Galaxy, which I will create a new texture myself. I still have to add some escape pods to the engineering hull and some other small details. Enjoy! :)
Have you given up on the Narada completely or are you going to give it another go sometime?I've pretty much given up on the Narada. To make the ship look good, the polycount will greatly increase, and more problems with conversion for higher poly ships.
Also, what how bigs the poly count of the current one you have compaired to your other xi ships? The proto-ambassador is currently 19.4k polys. I am also starting to think about working on the Enterprise-A again.
Is it just me or does it look like it would fit in really well with the new (xi) universe? What with the curved nacelle pylons and all?
*facepalm* Sorry, my bad, forgot this isn't TrekBBS.Oh, sorry. I meant after that last post no one post any more pics unless I say so. I made some alterations to the quad ship.
It is how the Ambassador should have looked like. Instead, we got stuck with Jein's POS excuse of an Ambie as the cannon one...
your model lacks two small registry at the aft side of the upper saucer surface just nex to the engineering hull connection neck.I realize that. The way I mapped the saucer, one of the registries would be flipped when I add the the extra name. I guess we can live without it.
When you release them can you do me a favor? A large one, when you release them can you update the Pack that these fit in, like category (Federation, Borg etc) and them in their own? Like Wileys XI Ships?I will add my existing Kelvin ships (Kelvin, Kelvin-prise) to this mini pack and probably name the filename WCKelvin, so that there will be no overwriting scripts with other Kelvin ships. I guess everyone was fine how I did the JJ Enterprise having it's won filename in the ship selection screen. I will also change the impulse texture to something more like the movie.

Are you going to give them different registries or leave them with the kelvins? All different registries.
Well, I'm sure you know what you want for registry's Wiley. I just can't wait to fill my Trek XI fleet.Though the ship was not in the movie, I'll name one of the ships USS Reliant. I think that is what everyone is waiting for. :) The ship will almost be like the Trike ship, but will have 2 nacelles, like it should have.
Sweet, but I'm looking at the pic from the film right now and it definitely doesn't have the old miranda roll bar. The torpedo(?) module is a lot smaller and not as square.
Giving it a grey down would be good. And I'll do that for all Kelvin ships.
Neat rework on the Kelvin. Is this going to replace the original one?Yes. A blank registry texture will also be included.
No more reference pics- vonfrank, please remove that last post. I already said earlier in this thread that I do not want any more reference pics unless I said so, because by the time someone has posted a pic here I already had it. Sorry if I was a little harsh.*post deleted*
Very nice, mate. Eagerly awaiting the next image of those beauties. Here you go! The Kelvin-ized USS Reliant. :)

Since i saw the movie, i really wanted to see those ships in BCYou will soon. :) Trike and Quad have been exported.
Nice, now all we need is the space stationIt will be me most likely building it. Right now, I'm making the script so that the ships are ID map swap compatible.
QuoteNice, now all we need is the space stationIt will be me most likely building it. Right now, I'm making the script so that the ships are ID map swap compatible.
Are you doing the shuttles too?Lets see what I can whip up. :) For the Kelvin fleet- this is what I have so far:
That's a lot of ships. I'm gonna need a lot of cookies to deal death to these guys...*runs for cover from an avalanche of cookies* :) The registry textures are done for these ships. I just wanted a few ships from each and not the whole armada of every single ship in existence like the Miranda and Constitution classes. It saves on computer space. I never did IDmap scripting before, so I hope I get it right. :)
The Saladin is that one you posted earlier along with the pics of the upcoming JJPrise v2? or it is a Kelvin like variant that has not been revealed yet?The Saladin in the Kelvin fleet pack is the same ship as the USS Kelvin, not the JJ Enterprise one.
Well, good luck! Has the hardpoint been edited to be more in line with the film? Or are they just using the original hp?They will be using the original hardpoints.
So you will release the JJPrise kitbas separately? That ship was nice indeed it would be a pity if it will not be releasedIt will be released eventually.
Woo, that's some fleet there Wiley....and I already have script problems. (see technical support forum). I did successfully put all of the ships in sub and subsub menus for better organization.
Um...the Kelvin did have accurate weapons. Perhaps not the correct sounds and speed, but still with looks, accurate.
They look great Wiley! Can't make out the name of the Trike though...
Edit: Shouldn't at least one of the ships be the USS Farrugut? Uhura nearly got assigned there and it was at the big job starbase otherwise she wouldn't be on one long shuttle ride.
will you be scaling it to the size of the original Enterprise/Enterprise A?Yes.
That'd be a big file...Not if I resize the textures to 1024 pixels.
seems a bit smaller than the prime universe excel....That's why I made the shuttlebay doors look smaller, when in fact they could be several decks high. I still have plenty of areas to add additional small "greeblies."
I saw another really nice one on SFM that's fantastic. I'll link you in a PM or here if you want, just give me the word.I saw that one. It looked a little too much like the JJ Enterprise tech. The Enterprise and Excelsior are 2 seperate ships with their own unique design. I get the impression that each new ship is upgraded and a new design element is introduced. Maybe I should model in a shuttlebay like a mini spacedock.......... :). IF the JJEnterprise is "supposed" around the size of the Ent-E, the Excelsior would be like a small starbase with lots of detail. I'll now have to make a deck scaling chart to see how large the JJ Excelsior would be before I add any more detail.
I swear you're getting your ideas from baz... I mean, he started doing one! And now you've just blown him out of the water with this one!!After the JJ Enterprise, all other ships are free game, my versions are not the correct versions. There are loads of possibilities. .....Baz does have good ideas.......sorry......*runs and hides*

OMG. That is a beautiful JJ Excelsior! And large too. Keeping in mind with the JJ-verse upscaling of ships, compared to the size comparison of the Enterprise and Excelsior in the "Prime-canon universe", the Excelsior would be almost twice as long as the Galaxy class with around 60 decks. Now to work on the Kelvin fleet. If anyone want to talk about JJ-verse ship scaling, talk about it in another thread. .......I probably just opened up a floodgate of arguments...... :(
...this is a ship i'm gonna be keeping my eyes on.
Seems like everyone forgets about the '800' or so lives that Kirks father saves
nothing personal, but if you make them THAT big in comparison to a galaxy class, i wont be Downloading it
i sudgest that you make it the regular size of an excelsior or maybe release two versions, small and big.
thats just my opinion.... the model work still looks amazing
I agree that the excel shouldn't be that big, but let's leave the JJ-verse size stuff for another thread guys.Agreed. The Narada is now ingame(look for previous post). I built this new model and I got it ingame and I could possibly add more tendrils/spikey arms. I'm so happy. :D

Indeed, that is an Omigod! :P Fabby stuff once again Wiley! Maybe some cookie torpedoes could destroy it... :P
Looks at narada
SWEET JESUS
If you are going add more to it, could I suggest maybe having two versions? One essentially as it is now (for those with lesser computers) and one with the added stuff. Of course, thats depending on what it actually is poly wise at the mo. Looks like it'll be BIG.
Still, Great work!
Is that a giant egg the spikes are attached to lol?

That's essentially how it looked in the movie, just had so many spikes and tentacles one couldn't tell :P
I've just checked back te beginings of this topic, and there are some nice unreleased stuff, like the constellation, the Excelsior, the JJSaladin etc. are those still WIPs?With the Narada, the overall ship is one that anyone can make- just make lots of spikes and tendrils in the basic shape of the Narada. The Narada is a difficult ship to make accurate for BC, and will be difficult to get ingame without any bugs. The Constellation and the Enterprise-A are still WIPs, textures will probably be shared from each. I've just started to pre-texture the Ent-A. The Excelsiors will probably be rebuilt, hopefully cleaner, because after building the JJ Excelsior, the whole building process is easier. All other ships are still WIPs, and I'll get to them eventually.
Plastic???? pfffft thats like sooooo 1990's (he says as he glues the tail fin on his airfix concorde) awsome ships tho wiley.(sorry for being offtopic) Yes, plastic model kits- Star Trek and Star Wars. I light them up with LEDs. Here's a sample of what I do:

That's you Wiley, always one step ahead.
.....maybe I should say that my models are accurate to a point with a little bit of creative license. I'm basing mine off of the CGI version with some bits taken from the studio version.so lets please leave it at that to end any further debate :)
You don't like it?It's not that. There is an unwritten rule that modders will not take requests. I already have an extensive list of ships that are awaiting hardpoints and textures. By going through the previous pages of this thread, I probably have 15+ ships I'm working off and on. With the image you posted, I already saw it.

Seriously Wiley, you do top quality work.Indeed. :)......... The Wrath of Khan Enterprise is currently 25.3k polys and has a botanical garden full of vegetation. 8) To fix some mesh mistakes, I completely rebuilt the saucer, engineering hull, and pylons. Textures are mostly done, I might have a few minor details to add. Enjoy!
That's awesome, are you going to make a Movie 3 version? Where the hull is patched up and it's damaged with some neat effectsYep.
Sweet. Now, does this include killing Klingons in the saucer section explosion effect?....is that a request for a self-destruct version? I'll also add movie sfx from movies 2(phasers) and 3(torpedoes).
It could do with some chamfering along the edges of the neck, saucer and nacelle pylons. But apart from those, its looking awesome. That will require me remaking whole sections of the ship, which I am not going to do. I'm not going for absolute, total, mega-ultra realism. I've done enough to make me happy.
I don't like it Wiley, not at all...she's just way too damned beautiful! Thanks for the cookie.....mmmmmmm. I guess no one will like the Enterprise having battle scorches making the ship look not as pristine.
QuoteI don't like it Wiley, not at all...she's just way too damned beautiful! Thanks for the cookie.....mmmmmmm. I guess no one will like the Enterprise having battle scorches making the ship look not as pristine.
A beautiful idea would be to use animated map for blinkin light like connie in TCMP to add an other detailThough that would be cool to see, it is difficult to do and export it correctly to BC. The best way for me is to do blinking lights from NanoFX.
One of the most used ships in trek history and the one we have only sh*tty models of.Hey now, lint made a nice one, though it did have some scaling issues.
Will there be a 1701 A?Yes. Aside from the coloring changes and some other minor details, they are basically the "same" ship.
Is there going to be high-res registries?I have never got ID map swapping to work. The existing registries are high res.
I have successfully done warp-speed nacelle/bussard texture swapping, so that will be added.
I don't remember the bussard lighting up during warp, only the grills.Yes, I know. I meant that I got it to work on previous ships.
I have never got ID map swapping to work. The existing registries are high res.
You sure this isn't just another render? That's truly ingame. I know it is awesome. It has a full botanical garden with trees and shrubs!
Wiley, you've done so much for BC, there's no way we can give enough thanks.I just don't want BC to become one of those outdated games that nobody can play. Anyways, I'm trying to create a close-enough version of the ST2 torpedo. I already have a working version ingame basing it from from Sonic14's version. It uses the ST3 torp sfx. I love it when things work.
we can retire every Constitution Class model we have....WZ Moon, Khaliban, P81, all of them! LOL

I love it when things work.
Good work Wiley as usual, though the torp bay looks a little flat from the renders does it point in the middle?
It is flat! (sounds like we're talking about something else )No, the torpedo bay points up in the middle- look back at my previous renders.
incredible jobWhy thank you. :) I already have the ST2 torp completed with sfx, I might as well make the blue TMP torpedo, the greenish ST5 one, and the red ST6 one. The ST2 and ST6 Enterprise will have the 2 seperate torpedo types. It looks like the ST5 Enterprise has bluish impulse engines, and a whiter appearance. Can anyone confirm this without posting pictures?
Stick with ST6 for Enterprise-A references.Ok. We can all just forget about ST5.
i dont know what they were thinking when the writers wrote the movieI don't have a clue either. I was just wondering about a ST5 version of the Enterprise, but now back ontopic.....
Wiley, I can see a mesh error above the port engineering dock. Other than that, it looks great!
Wiley, I can see a mesh error above the port engineering dock. Other than that, it looks great!
I see it too, but it's far better than the errors all over all the docking ports on Khaliban's model.
Love those specs Wiley!
Wiley, the saucer egde specularity could be "hidden" behind the 3 stripes. Add the stripes to the specular map too in other words.Ok, fixed. The Enterprise-A is now ingame.
Oh, and what about the blue torp(ST:TMP) and the green torp(ST:TFF)?The clean ST2 Enterprise will feature both the blue TMP torps and the WOK torps. The ST6 Enterprise has only the red torps. I already have these working ingame and all are custom made(no reusing older weapons or sfx).
Sheesh, I go away for.. ok, let's just ignore how long I've been gone... and I come back and we've upgraded to this kind of Connie? Holy crap, that's beautiful.
Know what's hilarious? This now has more polys than my 24k 2.0 Sovereign model.
now what's hilarious? This now has more polys than my 24k 2.0 Sovereign model. My model is now 27.1k polys. I've updated the saucer, a simple rebuild, which now has 50 segments instead of 40. It now looks less segmented and I slightly made the saucer a slight bit thinner, but not too thin. I also tweaked the saucer rim textures in which the windows are "cut in half" by the saucer grid, which is something I guess no one noticed but it adds another bit of "canon" to the ship.
Aside from the mesh errors along the edge of the saucer section in the first of that latest load of screenshots, it doesn't look half bad.

Huh? What mesh errors?
I do concur on the cookie part however.
Might be just some unsmoothed parts......or the specular mapping. :)
Reliant 2.0? What happened to Reliant 1.0?It still exists, but now I have a completely textured TMP Connie to do kitbashes with.
Reliant 1.0 (pretty much the same model other than the bridge module, and saucer) is under construction. :D
Wow, now you know you'll have to do all the Miranda styles since this one looks beautifulI guess...... I'm almost done with construction. I still have to add much more stuff to it. Enjoy! :D
Wiley you really are bringing sexy back TMP style!!!!!
And then there're the Saratoga, Lantree and Soyuz subtypes.I'll see what mood I'm in when I'm done with the Reliant. Anyways, upper "greeblies" have been added.
Just curious: they will be released as a pack or as single shipsI might release one as a "preview" ship before the pack. My plans about ship-packs can change.
perhaps you can release a parts pack with parts already broken?...maybe. I'm done with the underside of the Reliant. It is now 27.2k polys and I still have not removed the extra unseen polys yet.
fan-frackin-tastic
fan-frackin-tasticI couldn't have said it better myself.
geez, Wiley, do you like ever sleep? lol :P
youre like a machine! :)
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW
cookie torp incoming
Did you use infrared to scan the prop?!I wish. :) I just used some schematics and a few screencaps from the movies. Much of the main structure is created with splines, then lathed to create the 360 degree round shape. I can't wait to see it ingame.
Will you be making the Soyuz as well as the Miranda and Lantree?Maybe.
this would be ugly to someone who can't see lol
it looks like some textures are missing around the Torpedo tubesThat area is supposed to be one color, I think I still have some room for adding more detail.
where are the RCS thruster vents on the saucer rim i see the yellow marking but no thruster vents same on connieThose are not usually on all of the time. I'll add them as black rectangles.
cool just want to help ya make this the best tmp ships everNo problem. It was a quick fix. The Reliant is now working ingame and it damages very well also (first image is slightly photoshopped).
if I recall from the ST2 DVD extras they made the Reliants bridge lights red to make it look more evilI'll do that with blinkers.
are you using omnis or spotlights to illuminate your registries in Max?Neither- the registry spotlights are the alpha channels of the textures. The scene is lit with omni lights.
So you create the registry lights by hand?Yes and no. In Photoshop, you can make good spotlights by creating another document and going to Render>Lighting Effects. Once opened, you should see 4 sections- Style, Light Type, Properties, and Texture channel (don't use this one, I don't). change the background color in Properties to black, so you won't have a lighter square around your spotlight. Then just move the points composing the spotlight and you are done. Just copy the spotlight into your alpha channel.
Something about the speculars on the back section (the box bit) doesn't look right..Some of the speculars I had to make up because they were not as pronounced as the saucer aztec.
the bridge lights on the Reliant are indeed red.
Yep, though if I recall subtly. it was more the lense flairs that were reddish wasn't it?The lights were more of a golden-red and they will be lit with blinkers.
Whenever it gets hardpointed, please make sure there's a USS Hood :). It's a dishonor to Starfleet's most famous captain, crew, and ship (and Gene's personal contribution to the franchise) that we often forget her :(. Plus it goes along with the FC Excelsior Bridge for once :P.
Wiley, will the textures you made for the last Excelsior line up nicely for mapping this one?I tried, and they do not match up that well.
If I know Wiley, he's probably cooking up brand new textures for the new model. We'll see how well I know Wiley, I guess........and that's why I'm creating all new textures for the Excelsior. I was able to use some of the textures of version 1, like the large curved design on the upper saucer section. Since I'm doing all of these TMP ships at the same time, I've developed a texturing style that works for me. I've also attached a sample of the new 2048 res textures I've created.
Do you plan to release a big TMP pack of these ships? Will you release the Starbase you were working on months ago with your other TMP beauties?Yes and yes. I'm going to rebuild the main section of the spacedock, because when seeing it ingame, the interior did not have that large-scale sense.
Have you learnt about ID swapping yet Wiley? Because, it would be incredible to have an Excelsior (2 models, base and Lakota refit) but to have ID swapping so that all registeries (canon) can be done.
Wiley if you need help with ID swapping I will be willing to lend a hand I think half the ships in my BC install I have modded to use id swapping at this point, and this stuff looks so awsome I would love to contributeSince the Excelsior class has 20+ ships, id swapping is definitely needed. I see with ships that have map swapping, the "default" that's mapped is a blank one, but swaps to the correct name ingame.
it just hit me... are you doing the "refit" version as well? (winged)
I believe the name "USS Gorkon" is on the list as well.
Have you learnt about ID swapping yet Wiley?Would I have to detach the ID map sections from the mesh for them to be swapped? Anyways, here's some more renders.
Idealy the id's should be on a single texture map and then the script can be set up to swap out that particular map, but multiple textures can be swapped out if needed .I could have used ID map swapping for the Kelvin ships, but due to issues I was not able to. I'll do what I can for the Excelsior. The Excelsior is the "ultimate test" to see if I can do ID map swapping.

It's amazing what you can do while still keeping a low poly countI'm slowly learning. :)
Wow, only 45 minutes? I'm impressedJust think of it- the overall shape is 4 cylindrical objects, with the largest one having a large round cut in it. I made a cylinder with 40 sides and 10 height segments and moved the points around to make a rocky shape. I cloned the section and slightly tweaked each section.
After I saw today's POTD of my Kelvin going against the Planet Killer, I quickly noticed how "low quality" the planet killer was. So last night, in about 45 minutes time, I built a 3.6k poly Planet Killer and textured it. Enjoy! :D
Omg, that one's cool. 45 minutes? You're kidding.Maybe an hour. It's large and ingame. :)
wiley u never cease to amaze what u can do hope those excal guys are watching yaI was a part of Excal for a little bit- they gave me the McKinley Drydock. I still have no clue how to bump map. The drydock was not very fun because of the lack of reference images. Ships are more fun and I do not have a deadline. I work on my own time. Plus, they are probably happier that they have us making an effort for modding BC.
So last night, in about 45 minutes time, I built a 3.6k poly Planet Killer and textured it.
it looks really good! :D the very best yet of it! :D
tho to me, the Planet Killer always did look like a giant spliff lol :P 8)
hmm maybe that doomsday machine's mouth can be animated??Umm...no.

*gives another cookie*
Jeebus Wiley another one? It's even better than the last one!Exactly. Practice makes prefect.....well almost. :) So many curves.
For the last few days I'm been working on a new JJprise. It's just under 30k polys. I was able to add a few things that I was not able to in my previous versions. Enjoy! :)
wow man, that's pretty nice.
LOL I think you have just made Shadowknights day.
too many polys that will go unnoticed
I know the last version that wiley made did not damage very well (as he specified)
Very nice work, as I have always believed MOAR POLYS!.. bring forth ze detail. Then you will not have a perfect ship working ingame, if it gets ingame with all of the detail. Sure it would be cool to see the bridge through the viewsrceen/window, but I will think about just making a texture for it anyways. It's a very small portion of the ship.
Very nice work, as I have always believed MOAR POLYS!.. bring forth ze detail.
not to mention those running "antique" rigs (like me) cant handle all that detail....It's mainly texture detail that lags gameplay. It's always good to include 2048-res, 1042-res, and an optional 512-res textures for ships. My personal goal is to keep all of my ships below the maximum of 30k polys. It takes practice to get it to a much lower amount.

I know this a bit off topic slightly ( im still a bit of a newbi ) but does anyone know if it would be possible to see the front half of the saucer section from the bridge viewscreen. It's possible. With some ship's hardpoints, there are forward, back, left and right views, I could just place the forward view just outside the bridge. Not all ships have these systems though.
Looking at that back view, you might want to change the shape of the impulse vents. I'm pretty sure they continue the round curve at the side rather than squaring off at the tip. Those new bits in the inside of the nacelles extends further towards the back too.Actually, no they don't continue to the rim, that's one of the very very few things wrong with the QMx model. Wiley did the impulse engine just right. Though you are right about the warp vents not extending back quite far enough, that's a small thing.
(Those qmx model images I posted show what I mean if that wasn't clear)
Other than that, that rear shot is pure win. :)

I'm now giving the mesh to Limey for cleanup.

I am just curious about one thing: Will the intercoolers move when the ship goes to warp like in the move. But all in all I like how the model looks awesome :dance

It could be done with an animated texture. Instead of actually making them move, just have the seems between each piece start to glow, giving the illusion of it opening.
^That's the best I can come up with.
FTech :D
best excelsiors I've seen.Wow. Coming from you that's awesome! :)

if i may ask whats the poly counts on the excels and the reliant (i know shouldve asked earlier but i was too busy drooling)
how can the reliant be so high compared to the larger ships???
it has more details in the hull........and in the areas between the impulse engine and the torpedo launching bay. The Reliant has more pieces than the other TMP ships. The Excelsior is not very detailed and made up of more simpler shapes.

Teal paint ? I guess it doesn't arrive till tueasday
could you uhm, make a special refit, with phaser arrays and strips i think id look awsomeI don't usually take requests. I'm trying to make this pack "close enough" to "canon." One thing I noticed, for the TNG and TNG Refit Excelsiors, since all of the ships are based from the original studio model with no major changes, TNG phasers only fire one beam, while the ships themselves have 2 emitters for one phaser. Maybe ILM thought no one would notice. I was thinking of this when I start on the HPs.

And don't forget that TNG Excelsior impulse crystals are red, not blue.I did notice that for the Lakota. I was also looking at some Dominion Wars battle scenes, and it looks like the impulse crystals are blue/green.

Looking good Wiley. Are they in game with placeholder HP's or are you done the scripting already too? They have their final HPs, but I still have to change the values of systems and create icons for the ships.
Wiley, if you don't stop this awesomeness I'm just gonna have to make you fat with all these cookies :P
he hasn't started the JJPrise 4.0's textures yet
I was wondering if you still were planning on doing all cannon registeries for the Excelsior and refits, using ID swapping or will it just be the Excelsior (NX and NCC), Enterprise-B and Lakota?I could do all the registries, but honestly, who uses all of those ships? I could make a few extra ships that were used frequently in the series, like the Crazy Horse, Melbourne, Hood, Valley Forge, and maybe Righteous for fun. I also have the engine warm-up script working. I'll start adding this to the other Excelsior ships.
I like how you are using the NX as the testbed for your scripting. It was the first ship in the script. :) I'll also see if I can get the other ships (TMP Constitution, Miranda) to use ID map swapping. Who knows, I'll rebuild my Kelvin (a bit tempting) and use map swapping for it too.
And obviously a heck of a lot more stable than the ship in the movie. :P Looking fantastic Wiley.QuoteI like how you are using the NX as the testbed for your scripting. It was the first ship in the script. :)
Curious, in total, how many ships/classes of ships are you planning on releasing once you're "done" with this batch (can't think of a better word for it) of modding? It's too early to tell. What we have is:
any chance to see Raging Queen or Curry ? somehow I like those crazy kitbashesPossibly (no reference pics please). :)
I don't think we need too many variants of the MirandaExactly. For the Miranda, we have the TNG/DS9 Saratoga, Lantree (without rollbar), TMP Reliant, DS9 Majestic, and Brattain (TNG: Cause and Effect).
You're gonna be busy for a while though Wiley, but just for being willing to do a project of this magnitude earns you a cookie. Bravo.I tend to think of it as several smaller projects.

Should I keep them lit?ya id say go for it :)
People seem to ask for the Hood everytime a new Excelsior mod is released. Personally, I don't know why the Hood is such a fan favorite, or can't remember, but heres a list that may go over very well:
The TMP excels are going to light up on the top though when you're done right? All Excelsior registries will be illuminated. It also saves time on removing the lights on the alpha channels.
I think he mans the nacelle glow Wiley, but if not then I hope they are...Hopefully, I'm answering this question correctly. The top part of the nacelle on the studio model does not glow and it's the same for the DS9 versions, so I added a faint glow to it.

If memory serves, the USS Hood was the ship Commander Riker served on before accepting a position as First Officer on the Enterprise.
That's going to be a huge pack though.Very true. I might release the ship-packs individually.

Sweet Phase II, I've been waiting for that ship a long time. Any chance you might also do the Ralph McQuarrie Enterprise(s) from the never made "Planet of the Titans" movie. It'd make for a good "Enterprises that never were" pack. 8)
Good Lord, Wiley, how do you balance so many projects at once?

Some say, that he's the predecessor of HAL 9000, and that he suffers from severe case of multiple personalities that prevent him from sleeping. All we know is, he's The WileyCoyote!
It's basically a TOS Connie with aztecs.Yep, pretty much. I'm just adding various TOS details that look cool on the ship, even if they are not on the schematics I'm using. It's an easy TOS/TMP hybrid. I'm also experimenting with different types of window lighting- not all of the windows are evenly lit. I might even make a few multicolored to see what it would look like.

you'll know someone will get lucky.Usually Kirk or Spock (depending on the year). I'll start working on the secondary hull.
I really like the Gold deflector dish in front of the Blue one. Kinda like its almost ready for the 2nd refit in 2 years.
What I did:
-Create a LARGE plane in max and color it white(no textures)
-Grab a spotlight and make the cone of the spotlight go just above the plane (this should make a small angle and the triangular effect)
-you can tweak the hotspot/beam, and Falloff/Field effects of the spotlight
-render a top view, it should be overall black and a little white spotlight, then save it
-open up Photoshop and select the newly rendered image
-paste the image into the alpha channel in your texture, and stretch/enlarge to desired size.
-That's it. :)
Will you make your own hardpoint with your own take on what Phase II weapons might be like?I was thinking about changing the look of the phasers (orange/gold TMP phasers), phaser sfx, and make a new torpedo similar to the one from TMP.
will you still be releasing that Trade Fed base too or has that been put on the back burner? It's on the backburner when I get in the mood for making Star Wars ships. The Millennium Falcon comes to mind......hmm. :)
The Millennium Falcon comes to mind......hmm. :)
HOW do you get your Aztec panels to shine like that? Does it have anything to do with your graphics card?I do my speculars like DJ's ships. The background is 82% black, and the hull plating are various light grays. And no it is not my graphics card.
What bug is that?
I know one thing I'm looking forward to of his, although I'm not gonna hassle him, is a JJ refit.
I'll just be glad when people stop making me drool, and start releasing.Don't worry, they will be released after they have been beta tested.

I better check wileys lists, in case he swiped my registry again...(and so I don't duplicate names on my independence class)What do you mean?
just a question, what ever happened to the Droid control ship and ID4 city destroyer?
lol
no really, are they available?
is it so terrible to just ask "what happened to them" :roll
im not demanding an update, im just curious.
no really, are they available? If they were available, you wouldn't be asking. They just need HPing. The Droid Control ship still is not updated. I'm getting some of the Trek ships out of the way. The Trek XI ships will be worked on once I find (on my own) reference images when the DVD/Blue Ray is released. The ID4 ships: Troop Transport needs HPing, I don't know if the City Destroyer will be released-- it loads ingame after 10 minutes.
Take all the time you want and release only what you're happy with, we are nothing but rabid WileyFans.I have fans. :funny Here's my complete list for the Excelsior/Centaur Classes Fleet Pack and it also includes what variant they will be. Be warned, it's a lot.
Yay, Dallas! EF2 fan?I don't have the game, but I saw the clip online. I thought it would be cool to add.
Please dont get me wrong :(You're fine. :) The reason why I'm adding the Centaur class to the Excelsior Fleet Pack is that the Centaur ships share a lot of textures from the Excelsiors and I did not want to release them separately.
i didnt mean any offense at all, if me asking for info like that bothers you, then i will never ask again. Sorry :(
One hopes you're using the SDT for the registries, or that'll be one biiiiiig pack!ID map swapping is working very well. I have just created the registries for all of the ships, now I need to get them ingame. Currently, all of the textures, including the regs, are at 2048 pixel resolution. I'll see how big the whole file will be after I zipped it to determine if I need to resize them.
TMP hp +USS Buckner NX-42043
TNG hp +USS Centaur NCC-42043
shouldn't these two registries be different and also shouldn't the USS Centaur have the NX-Prefix since this is the Class Namesake.Check Ex Astris Scientia for the better registry picture. The actual Centaur model used in DS9 was named USS Buckner NCC-42043, but in the episode the ship was called Centaur with the same registry. Adam Buckner was the guy who built the model and that's why his name was on it. Many other designer's names were on other ships.
WOW USS Dallas, I was wondering if it will ever be done for B THX!!!You do realize that the USS Dallas in this pack is just an extra registry of a normal Excelsior and not the variant we saw in the game.
QuoteWOW USS Dallas, I was wondering if it will ever be done for B THX!!!You do realize that the USS Dallas in this pack is just an extra registry of a normal Excelsior and not the variant we saw in the game.
I don't think you have enough Excelsior Class ships for a pack. I think you need to add a few more. :P
ugh. This ship is just another excuse to blow stuff up in BC. Since everyone is in the alternate universe building mood, I thought this would be fun to add.
I thought the kickstart was a sovvy?
Wow. People blowing chunks left and right. :funny I didn't know that people hated that design. I'll make sure that the texturing looks awesome.Wait, what? If people don't like the design, gussying it up with pretty textures won't fix it. It may hide the hideousness, but it won't eliminate it.
I enjoyed the film, didn't watch the imperial version yet. Are ship designs the only change? To avoid copyright infringement so they could publish it commercially? (I remember my surprise when I saw Star Wreck for sale on a DVD stand!)
My Bridge Commander-honed eye for detail spotted "NCC-1701" still written on the nacelle tips of the Kalinka in the original version. That was a gorgeous connie model they used.
Anyway, Nice job on the Potkustart! All that remains to be said is:
FUKOOOOOOVVVV!!!!!!! :mad
No no no, stick to the Finnish originality. Don't let these imperialists dictate what kind of art you should create.
Yeah, there are uglier things in Trek than this ship...
Yeah, there are uglier things in Trek than this ship...
The Kickstart is one mesh I might continue if I had nothing else to do. Right now, I have Dalek HPing my new Doomsday machine, and I'm designing a new JJ-Excelsior to accompany the JJprise v3 (or is it version 4). The JJ-Excelsior design can be seen in the Graphic Arts section here at bccentral.

quick point-out on that schematic, the bussards are kinda hidden from the front, there, defeating their engineering purpose. One of Roddenberry's(?)...and that's why this is a concept schematic. I will work the bugs out when I start building the 3D version.
rules of starship design is that the bussards must be clear from th front, so as to intake partickes to replenish the matter/antimatter storage cells.

Hello again, I haven't posted here in a while due to college reasons. Anyway, I'm going to release some things for Christmas for everyone to play with and enjoy:
Excelsior/Centaur Fleet Pack
Doomsday Machine
Wrath of Khan Battle Pack (clean Enterprise, clean Reliant, battle-damaged low-powered deflector Enterprise)
I've included some screencaps featuring the WOK pack. I still got to package it up. That new nebulaeFX works awesomely!
Can't wait for the Excelsior pack. While my files are being uploaded, I thought it would be nice to show the list of the 30 ships that will be featured in the Excelsior & Centaur Fleet Pack.
I don't think we have enough...The good thing about doing id map swapping is that all of the ships have blank textures so anyone can make the ship of their choice.
QuoteI don't think we have enough...The good thing about doing id map swapping is that all of the ships have blank textures so anyone can make the ship of their choice.
Holy cow, Wiley. That's a lot of ships. It's the first large pack I have done that uses id map swapping in larger scale. 9thDawg tested it, and they all work. The black nacelle bands on all Excelsior ships (excluding DS9) will glow blue in warp. At the last minute, I also added a new folder that has the NanoFx blinkers for all ships for the people who want to use them or not.

Also, your Doomsday Machine is brutal against ships of the TOS-TMP era, even the Atriau. I took the Atriau against it, and one well placed blast from the DM blew her shields away then hit her reactor. The crew probably didn't know what hit them.
Just out of interest, are you going to be making the full set of constitutions and mirandas (like you have with the excelsior),
Or will you be sticking to the main ones(Ent, Ent-A, Reliant)?
Your Excelsiors are absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to get them installed :D

Or will you be sticking to the main ones(Ent, Ent-A, Reliant)?
As someone who's read the old "Ships of the Star Fleet" books, I wouldn't mind seeing the Phase II with USS Constitution markings. Maybe you could release a mixed pack, kinda like you did with the Excelsiors and Refit Excelsiors.I could do that, but it's the same answer as the last question. If I were to do a Phase II USS Constitution it will be a slight retexture to make it different from the USS Enterprise.

Well, it is an anti-proton beam, probably the most powerful weapon in the galaxy ('twas my viewpoint on such a thing. The Atraiu would never have been powerful enough anyway unless it had about 4 warp cores). :)
Wiley, is there going to be an Ent-A?Yes, there will be an Enterprise-A. I just don't know how powerful it should be. I also have a ST3 Battle Damaged Enterprise I can throw in too.
QuoteWiley, is there going to be an Ent-A?Yes, there will be an Enterprise-A. I just don't know how powerful it should be. I also have a ST3 Battle Damaged Enterprise I can throw in too.
The A shouldn't be much more powerful than the WOK 1701.
not wanting to hijack or spam this thread...buuuut lol....the 1701-A should be somewhat more powerful in phaser and photon capacity....she fired her photons in rapid succession in STVI:TUC...and she had a very updated engine room as well (as the set and warp core was reused from TNG) so her reactor should put out more power than the WOK version and she should have more powerful phasers and a somewhat higher impulse power as well i'd say..Agreed, afterall it's been 15-20 years after TMP which means it should be more powerful, notice that in TMP Enterprise was fitted after 20 (or more) years of service with new phasers, shields, warp core etc. so it's possible that they refitted its systems after another 20 years.
Hey Wiley, your sig. is that what you've got planned now?Yep. I've been texturing as I model and according to the schematics I have, the model will be very accurate. The model will not have animations (I never liked it when the bussards took damage). The model is about 80% complete. I have nothing to show right now, maybe I just want to build up the suspense. :P
I can't wait! I'm sure this pack will go beautifully with your Doomsday Machine. :)
how goes the STIII Battledamaged Enterprise? The ship itself uses the TWOK Battle-Damaged Enterprise hardpoint. I could try to make the hardpoint "canon" in which the shields do not work right, but no one would want to play it as a weakened ship. The Enterprise-A uses the TWOK hardpoint but uses ST:6 torpedoes. I have not packed these up yet, but I'll release them soon (sometime this month, hopefully).

Will you include all the exposed decks and girders in the mesh or will it be mostly done with textures?A little bit of both. I'll try to keep the polycount low.

Time for me to retire.
Just build us a superduper Ambassador Class and NX-01 and you and WC will have cornered the Enterprise lineage
QuoteTime for me to retire.
Please don't. :funnyQuoteJust build us a superduper Ambassador Class and NX-01 and you and WC will have cornered the Enterprise lineage
I have already built an NX-01 so I guess DJ will just have to build the Ambassador class. :P
I'm in.
Awesome there Wiley! I can't wait to get my hands on her ample nacelles, if you?ll pardon the engineering parlance.I'm a bit surprised by the positive reaction regarding my TOS Enterprise model. So many people have built her before; one might think that it has been built to death.
Giver on the aztec. It looks really good.
Regardless, the minor metallic plating details look good, but they bring down the canonocity meter to a mere 9.99999999.....
(ten years later...) 999. Whew.
but where might i find your NX-01?? Is it up on BCFiles?? I haven't had a chance to look...A picture of it is on my deviantart page, but I'll post the pics here. I think I posted these here before. Please note- this is not a current project, I'll get to it when I'm in he mood. ;) The model is around 27.9k polys and it is based from the official CGI renderings.
Lol somehow I like NX better when it is white :funny spectacular model I say ;) would be great to see your take on Sovereign tho ;)
Sounds reasonably :) considering how much projects there are in Wiley list :DLol somehow I like NX better when it is white :funny spectacular model I say ;) would be great to see your take on Sovereign tho ;)
It is a very nice NX-01. And maybe we should let Wiley finish up some of his other projects before suggesting more. :P
would be great to see your take on Sovereign thoOk. :D This was built before I started on the TOS Enterprise. I still have much more work to do on this and I might redo some main sections. It's currently 18.9k polys. Enjoy!
Now we'll be salivating for months to get our shaking hands on these beauties!Yep. :) I'm just making 2010 another awesome year for everyone to look forward to.
No really u mean Im just going to screw with ur heads more in 2010 and give u all a load of models u wont see till 2012 LOL :funny just kidding wiley :funny
Just a pity your not going to animate the bussards that would be the icing on the cake.I'll try my best to animate the bussards. Though I do not have the correct Max program to animate stuff, I have a tutorial of how to script it in by using nifskope.
which version of the sov will this one be the FC/Inn, or the Nem version with all the extra firepowerWe already have the Nemesis version, so this will most likely be a First Contact/Insurrection version.

lol in a way, that sort of makes sense... ship explodes, player dies, game crashes lol j/k :P
 this is awesome Wiley, true work of art, got a question, are those bottom saucer dome hull lines modeled in or textured cuz now they look like boomp mapped ;) that's the way they should look like on most ships
It has been a while, but I now have my TOS Enterprise ingame. My only problem with the model itself is that when the ship is exploding, the game crashes.
got a question, are those bottom saucer dome hull lines modeled in or textured cuz now they look like bump mappedThe undersaucer indented rings are modeled in.
Might be able to fix this.... its all about the settings in the py script in data/scriptsI fixed the problem. The ship goes boom just fine.
Also, are you going to be doing alternate registries for the other Connies or just releasing the Enterprise and the Constellation?Right now, it's only the Enterprise and Constellation. The bussards do not animate, and I do not like how animated areas take damage.
Kind of a shame, but I certainly understand, that's one of the downfalls of animated textures that has plagued BC since the CG Sovvie. One bit of damage and the entire texture stops glowing, though it continues to animate. :P
BC now crashes whenever my new TOS Enterprise goes to warp.

BC seems to be acting more like NBC when it comes to the TOS Enterprise.

"These are the voyages of the starship enterprise"
"It's five year mission, to explore strange new worlds."
Will she have blinking running lights? No animations at all. Though it would look better with them.
Now, here's the billion dollar question. Is she going to be released separately, or packed with the Constellation?I can't give you a true answer right now, but I'll say that they will be released separately.
Well, definitely best of luck with the Constellation. Can't wait to see how she turns out.Well, I currently have the saucer and engineering hull done with damage, and I am working on the nacelles. I do not have any pics to show yet, but the ship looks considerably better when it is done. :whenitsdone I really like how it is looking so far. Good thing I took screencaps of the remastered episode when it was on cbs.com before they removed them.
Agree. And even better - collision-damaged Ent E and Scimitar . Would cookie, but not sure how to, or if can yet!My Enterprise-E is a long way from being playable- it's still a WIP, and pushed back for possible remodel. Nice idea about the Scimitar, I might add that to my long list- don't expect it to be built immediately.

Wiley are you going to make her difficult to handle as in slow like she was in the episode?Yep. I wish the flying could be jerky and uneven like in the episode. I never made a disabled ship before.
Yep. I wish the flying could be jerky and uneven like in the episode. I never made a disabled ship before. If the the batteries are drained, I think the flying begins to become erratic. Make the power system balance really bad so that the batteries are constantly being drained and I think you'll get the effect. The Kyoto did this when I beta'd her. :P

Thanks for all the cookies and good comments. I've created my "master list" of stuff I have yet to do and release on the first page of this thread. I plan to get the unreleased ships that I already have working ingame to be released this summer.
I'd say that list isn't too bad, but when you consider just how much goes into each of those...yeah, it's a lot. cheeky I forgot you were doing Kaden's Legacy. The same with the NSEA Protector, though that makes me happy. Looking forward to your (hopefully)final JJPrise. Don't recall how your Narada looked though. cheeky Hopefully you can get them all out the door within the next couple of years. lolHere's my Narada:
Here's my Narada:

It is difficult to make the main body of the ship not to look like an egg and be exported correctly without many errors.
Nice Max- is that BC shots, if so lucky WC you dont need to.
Though I am not a moderator, I would say to keep on topic and not about Maxloef's Narada. That should be discussed in his own thread.:yeahthat: :D
I am also working on a new JJConnie.
Thanks for the comments and cookies. :) I still have yet to HP it correctly. I am also working on a new JJConnie (I have nothing to show yet).
I am also working on a new JJConnie.
This pleases me greatly :D
Alas my JJconnie (V5) sent to the knackers yard so soon lol. I'm sure yours will be screen perfect.
Great job on the Connies though.
Good luck on the new JJPrise. It's been exactly a year since I released my JJEnterprise, so I'm starting a new one. The saucer of the new JJprise is mostly complete with textures, specs, and minor modeling. Not bad for a week and a half of off and on work. I'm taking extra time with this one to get all of the "accurate" details and difficult curves. Enjoy. :)

I would do something with the spotlights though, it looks a bit funny where they over lap each others edgesI'm experimenting with different ways to create spotlights. They are not final.
But this one Enterprise looks like with reduced poly count.I figured that every detail does not necessarily has to be modeled in. I still have to model some minor things like turbolifts and navigation lights. The saucer itself is 6.5k polys.

I was never fond of the design, but this is growing on me WileyI myself did not like the new design upon first glance, but the ship has all of the components for it to be called The Enterprise. The ship design will be better accepted if it is properly executed for BC (not saying that previous versions are bad- Baz did a good job on his last one). I'm going to start on the engineering hull/neck next.
Well Wiley, since no one seems to be jumping at the opportunity for some reason, I'd be glad to beta the ST3 Enterprise.
Wow, 5 months and no one has noticed. Awesome. :funny
Pff. I've been hiding easter eggs on my ships for years! ;P
The JJConnie mark III is nearing completion, and I might post pics tomorrow. :) I also have the BD Constellation yet to be hardpointed. So I will have the new JJ Connie mk3, TOS Enterprise, BD Constellation, and the ST3 Enterprise to be released about the same time (I do not know yet....a rough estimate will be 2 weeks). Stay tuned!
Actually the textures I used for the windows are of the Enterprise-D. The windows alternate in color with blue and green for the uneven lighting.
I prefer this ship to be about the size of the TMP Enterprise- it's better for everyone.
I am now also making the in-warp textures.
As promised, here is the new JJ Connie mk3. It is around 20.1k polys. Enjoy. :D
one small request...if you can be bothered with it...could you make a version where the nacelles are more appart...like say in star trek DAC/TOS EnterpriseThey are not actually that close together. Part of me was thinking about making the golden/orange bussards.
She does look amazing. Will this version overide the last one Wiley?Yes. It will have a newer hardpoint with pulse-like phasers- similar to Baz's.
But if I can be honest, I feel that the edges of the warp pylons could use a little more chamfering (rounded off edges). Also, there is a visible spine that runs down the back of the ship all the way down to the shuttlebay in the movie. There is very little I can do to the model at this time. I just wanted the engineering section to have a really smooth transition to the neck. I do realize there are some minor model errors, but minor enough to not be a problem.
As for the model, I certainly don't think we'll see anything more accurate until some official schematic images are releasedFor the schematic, I used a combination of the view from Drexfiles (ship comparison to BSG, etc) and the ones from Ex Astris Scientia.

Not really a fan of EAS. Do you know of cygnus-x1.net?I already have that on my favorites. That's where I get a majority of my schematics before building.
Liking the sound of that hardpoint. It kinda bothered me how the phasers on the previous version all angled into the same point at the same time. At least pulses might make this less noticable.

Technically, that's how the phasers on this ship SHOULD be. Unlike the original Enterprise the phasers aren't fixed aiming in one direction. They're turrets and can very likely swivel to provide more coverage. Which means anything that gets in front of the ship is gonna get raped.
Well yeah, I meant how the beams formed a triangle to one point on the enemy ship instead of being a barrage like in the film
I've scaled the ship to be around 366 meters long.
EAS's numbers don't lie.
EAS's numbers don't lie.
Um, Yes they do.
ILM say it's 2379.75 feet, so it's 2379.75 feet. They built these ships 1:1 in their computer environment and all the details and the shots in space confirm that size (admittedly it is smaller in one of the ground shots but thats probably because they had to fit it on top of a real world location), which the EAS guy seemed to ignore.
I'm not going to argue this in wileys thread anymore as it's his model and he chooses what size he wants to make it.
@ Wiley
Ah right. It's a shame it's not like in Armada 2 where you can change the size by simply editing one number in the ships odf file. If that was possible in BC everyone could scale ships to the size they want, eliminating issues like this.
Is she gonna have speculars?

But they don't match a regular sized version. No way in hell, unless the human species has shrunk. Like I said, don't want to clutter wileys thread. Feel free to message me if you want to carry on this discussion.
I chose 366 meters because that what size Ryan Church originally designed the ship to be. ILM just made it twice as big. I would like to end this little "argument" about the new Enterprise's size. In the numerous shows and movies, there have been countless ship-sizing errors that naturally come along with any scifi genre. It is something we all have to live with.
Until I see more reference from the sequel showing the large scale Enterprise, I will keep the ship at 366 meters long.
I was also thinking about creating a custom Warp Entry/Exit sound for JJ Federation ships. How can I do this?
On second thought, I'll create a thread in the BC Scripting section.
Could you not just take them from the film? the enterprise arriving at titan is pretty clear.
QuoteCould you not just take them from the film? the enterprise arriving at titan is pretty clear.
The Trek XI sound pack from NX-809 has all of the sounds that I want to use and they are from the movie, but scripting is a bit difficult. If anyone can help, I have a thread in BC Scripting about the issue.
The ship is now ingame and speculars work. I was thinking about adding blinkers. Baz was kind enough for giving me permission to use his phaser texture that he used on his JJ fleet pack. I am getting some good results using this texture. I am still working on the scripts for the warp entry/exit sounds. Enjoy! :)
I was thinking that there should be more pulses coming from the phasers.I remember lots being fired at the Narada missiles. :P

just wondering...what about the 1701-A?Good point. I have not released the 1701A yet. So that will be 5 Connies.
Wow, that is gorgeous. Can't wait to fly her myself. You and Dalek have been PMed about beta testing. Does anyone else want to beta test the 5 Connies?
Do the damage effects work okay? That was a problem, especially on the nacelles, of the previous version.I have had no issues with damage textures for the nacelles.
There's definatly something about the spot lights that looks weird.Maybe because they look too crisp and do not look like spotlights. I'll see what I can do.
You and Dalek have been PMed about beta testing. Does anyone else want to beta test the 5 Connies?
I'll beta test for you, I'll pm you my email if its not listed on the site.I'll PM you with the download link. I'll also reupload my JJConnie because I've changed the glow textures. It is preferred that the user to not use Galaxy Charts due to the warp glows not switching correctly. I also decided not to add custom warp sounds.
I also decided not to add custom warp sounds.
Thats a shame, how come?Though I did get all of the scripting correct and installed Galaxy Charts to get it working, I still got no sound for the warp effects. Plus, the inwarp glows kept on after being in warp, plus I hate the new starstreaks.
I like the noticeable speculars. Brings out a lot more detail and quality on each ship that has it.Though that is true, it is very subtle on this ship. It will start looking like a checkerboard after a while. It can be really easy to overdo it.
Setting one persons ship against someone elses idea of a ship isn't a strictly accurate test. For all we know baz'z is too strong against other ships anyway. No offense baz. :P

Don't think its a alpha channel issue as the ship would be glowing if it was. More like a nif problem, but might be wrong. Send over the file if you want & ill take a look.
~Jb
Jb, it IS glowing. I don't have enhanced glows. :P
To my beta testers:
Is everything good for release?
plaeeeeeeeaseeee post them!!!!!!!!!!!Good things come to those who wait.
I think it's just a matter of uploading the file again, tagged as an update, and BCfiles' system will deprecate the original file.please don't do that. it is a lot easier to move a file then to update and replace it. Like Jimmy said, if you need us to move a file, just PM one of us, or point it out like Wiley did in the forum, we'll fix it right away. Do not re-upload a file unless you've actually made changes to it.
BTW, what is the news on scaling?Scaling will truly be screwed up on the larger models, then again, Baz did do V'ger being large. The Troop Transport will be around the size of a small space station. The City Destroyer will be large, maybe the size of a spacedock. The mothership (if I get to it) will be enormous, maybe Baz V'ger-sized, if it loads ingame.

I'm happy that everyone is enjoying my ships. It looks like I almost set a new standard for TOS ships, minus the animated bussards.
How about lighting? The ID4 ships were very dark, which would be hard to see in BC. Wish I had finished mine.I plan to use this color scheme and possible a blue/gray color scheme also (scroll 3/4 down the page):
Are you, by any chance, planning for a July 4th release? It sounded fun. It will keep me on my toes.
How much power will there be in the City Destroyers "super-mega-kill-everything-but-also-super-vulnerable-gun-that-takes-ages-to-charge-lol" weapon? It's too early to tell, maybe really powerful like the planet killer, but slightly weaker.
Why use F-18's when you can use a Delta Flyer? :D
For example, the Constellation again. It's possible that JJ-Decker could still find his JJ_Constellation face to face with the Doomsday Machine and although his ship is stronger than the Prime Connie, (in theory anyways), he would still most likely be defeated and rescued by the JJ_Enterprise. So what would the battle damaged JJ-Constellation look like?In the words of Blue Peter, here is on I made earlier (though never released)

could we have F-18s to fight it?It wouldn't be realistic to have F-18s or even a biplane to be in space. IT will be more like the shuttles from Armageddon or the shuttle from Deep Impact fighting in space.
But what if you looked into the JJ-Universe future and made some battle damaged JJ-Connies?We still do not know how many true on-screen decks the JJ-Connie has. If I were to do battle damaged JJ-Connies, they will be in the smaller scale.

Custom Warp speed sounds only work with installs with Galaxy Charts v2. GC always has problems with the in-warp texture swapping not turning off, so I chose not to include that in the final release.
What about a DoomsDay damaged JJ Constellation? I'm not requesting, just saying I can't tell how many decks are on it, and would thus kickass
Ever thought of updating the USS Kelvin?A little bit. I haven't started, but I've added it to my list.
YES!! Finally! I've been waiting for this one since the thread started. Please note that this is a whole new mesh, and it is different than the one at the beginning of this thread. The new model could be around 10k poly when completed. Though I did got the old one ingame, it was inaccurate, and not textured correctly. I do plan on this one to be 15 miles long. :D
That is my brother's ship. He has not gotten around for drawing the other elevations of the ship. I would build it in a hearbeat if he drew up the hidden sections. But, he is also very busy. If anyone is curious who I look like, go to his website at mattwileyart.com (I'm the tall guy with the glasses). :)

The thing is the city destroyer relied on shields and fighters for defence, it only really has a primary weapon that takes time to deploy and then it was no match for 20th Century defenses. The fleet that took on the borg cube in first contact should be a match for one of these.
She did have some kind of forward torpedo/plasma launcher on the front because she shoots down those three helicopters that were attempting communication. That was the fighter bay- the aliens just got into one of their fighters and destroyed the helicopters.
whats the polycount, and texture sizes and everything at now?Right now, the polycount is 10.2k and the textures are at 54.5 MB.
I am currently working on the weapons bay area, and after looking at reference pics, it is actually much smaller than I thought. Which means the ship will have to be HUGE to make it look big. Many scenes in the movie showed it looking much larger than it actually was.
Hmmm...wouldn't surprise me if they altered the model in certain scenes to make it look bigger to increase the menace. Of course, considering that the only things fighting it were F16's...if i rember with the shield down the ship is weak a pack of f16 and armys of the world could take one out with 20th century weapons so any fed ship could toast these ship very easy couldnt they ?
What kind of FTL drive, if any, are you planning for the ID4 ships? Warp, slipstream or hyperspace?Warp speed would be the easiest, but slipstream could add a little bit of flair.
if i rember with the shield down the ship is weak a pack of f16 and armys of the world could take one out with 20th century weapons so any fed ship could toast these ship very easy couldnt they ?The weapon system will be VERY weak, so an ENT-era photon torpedo could destroy it. I do not know if BC can handle such a large ship exploding...

How much bigger did they make her look? Didn't they say they were some, 15 miles in diameter?I'll make some comparison pics. The ships are said to be 15 miles in diameter.
It's too bad that the ID4 aliens didn't have a known "race name". Would love to see some species history, aswell as a species name, for these ships when it comes to plugin time instead of seeing them listed as "ID4 Ships" in the ship selection menu, they they are ready for plugins that is.Yep, too bad there isn't a race name for these ships. We barely know enough about the species history (similar to locusts, travel from planet to planet, remove the native species/population, consume every natural resource then move on).

You forget...we have atleast one new opportunity to know more about them comming up in a few years. ;)
A photon torpedo with a 25 isoton yield can destroy an entire city within seconds. (VOY: "Living Witness")
When fired by a Galaxy-class starship without shields at a target in close range, a single photon detonation had a high probability of destroying the firing ship as well. In 2365, the unshielded USS Lantree was destroyed with a single photon torpedo hit. The USS Enterprise-D stayed at a distance of forty kilometers. (TNG: "Q Who", "Unnatural Selection")
Now I've got the job to scale this thing to 15 miles.
Good luck if V'ger was anything to go by.Don't worry, I've done the math. The ID4 City Destroyer is slightly over 35 Enterprise-E's long. I think it is very do-able.

hehehe... hmm Wiley I think you need to make the hull non crit on this ship lol
Just had a thought... you might be able to have the weapon doors open when at red alert... would make more sense but would involve messing around with ftech quite a bit.
It would be cool to have the doors open, but I might need someone to help me out with that. I thought people were still using mvam.

If you read a few pages back, he talks in detail about doing the mothership,True.
and I'm pretty sure he had pictures last year of the troop transports inside his mothership model. That will be a no- I have not built it yet.
That's like concept art from the movie itself! GREAT work! You are too kind. :)
MAN, you're a true pro.
Perhaps BC is reading the hardpoint as a duplicate? It shouldn't when the file is renamed differently, and the older ship names inside are renamed to the new one.
Redundant question, but you've searched through the entire file for bad filenames?Yup. I've been doing the same process for all of my previous ships and they all worked fine. But this one is being a PAIN.
You are too kind. :)
I'm still having issues with the city destroyer. The ship works great ingame since I have it overwriting the WC Doomsday Machine model. But when I make it as a unique ship, the hardpoint fails to load though it is the identical hardpoint I used before. What am I doing wrong?
At this rate, I do not think I can get these ships done by July. :(
Is it possible that the hardpoint for the Doomsday Machine was rewritten to be the same name as the HP for the city destroyer after you made it a unique ship?I guess? I could try to use a different hardpoint.
Good start, will these be shuttles for your city destroyer?Yep, and for the Troop Transports too.
I've rebuilt the upper pod, and I've added indents into the main hull to separate the sections. I am also adding the engine area later- that's why there is nothing there. Oh yea, I've added textures (the neon colored bits are untextured sections). :) Right now, the fighter is at 2.6k polys.
Makes me sad that BC won't display this fighter that good. It's very close to what it will look like ingame. That's not bump-mapping, it's all textured on. Plus, it is not ingame yet, so we'll find out eventually.

Wiley, that idea about the Mothership system is fantastic. It'd be well worth the wait.It sounded like a good idea. It will also solve the problems about the Mothership moving.
Is to be expected when you take the call for no reference links out of the thread title. :pI was getting tired of always having the "NO REFERENCE PICS" in my title to my thread. Is my thread the only one where this is occurring?
Welcome to the community, and kudos for trying to help, Robby, but Wiley likes to do his own research, and usually does it very well.
I think Tiqhud needs a cookie or two. :D
That looks so awesome! Remind me to give you a cookie once I get the ability. What ability would that be? You have already released an awesome ship.
What ability would that be? You have already released an awesome ship.
Now that is pretty damn cool! How powerful is that beam? The "focusing beam" has a damage factor of 11000, with a solid beam of 10 seconds. Then a torpedo (Destructive Pulse) can fire before or after after the 10 seconds before the sfx loops of the focusing beam (sounds better with the sfx) :) It does double damage.
he has to reach 100 posts before he can give cookies here at BCC :P
One thing to be noted about shuttle launching: Can only be done one at a time and if you're not moving, there's a danger of the launched craft flying into the one that came before it.True, and I have no problem with that. My only issue is that when recalling the fighters back, they tend to go toward the exact center of the ship. Good thing I disabled Collisions or else they would simply crash into the hull.
I was getting tired of always having the "NO REFERENCE PICS" in my title to my thread. Is my thread the only one where this is occurring?
It doesn't usually get to annoying levels with other modellers.trust me when i say that many months ago, when Wiley was working on a different ship (cant remember which one it was now lol) every single person and their brother were posting hundreds of references no matter how many times Wiley told everyone he didnt need any over and over again but no one would pay any attention to that...
Another reason is that most modellers are not as good at sniffing out obscure reference as you are, and many actively request reference.
I remember. I think it was the early JJprise meshes.
Could be part of the possible later ID4 deluxe release?Could be, but we are currently stuck with the existing Shuttle Launch script.
I fear I'm becoming the annoying fan I've been writing about.
Too damn slow. Why not. I'll send you a link too. :)
I had to pass that title onto somebody. Might aswell be you. :D
im salivating in excitement over blowing this thing to smithereensThat is very possible. This ID4 ship pack is a sampler set so I can get other people's opinions on the hardpoints so I can refine them on the 2.0 release with the Troop Transport, Mothership, and other craft.
ooh can't wait for thatI just uploaded it. It should (hopefully) be on BCfiles tomorrow.
I thought the city destroyer has a pulse weapon in the front when it shot down the helicopters with?
Oh sweet a new Sovereign, probably one of the most neglected ships in BC modding. Can't wait :D
I see that everyone is enjoying my ID4 ships. My next update for the rest of the ships (Mothership, Troop Transport, etc) might be next July 4th.
Anyway, here is my next project- the First Contact Enterprise-E (and this overwrites my older wips of the same ship). I'm still working on the engineering hull and I really like how the deflector trench turned out. Currently it is 1.4k polys. Building the eng-hull in halves really helps.
I do realize that I have ST: Nemesis schematics are being used. NO NEED FOR REFERENCE PICS, I know what was changed on the model from FC to NEM.
301 fans just cried in unison.Or earlier on December 25th. It's still too early to tell.
The FC Sovvy is the first iteration of the Sovvy we saw and the one I fell in love with.Right now I'm working on the shuttlebay area trying to make it look just right.
You know, between DJ and Wiley, we've gotten super high quality versions of every Enterprise other than the NX. The Enterprise-E looks off to an excellent start.
Wiley has an NX, go check out his DeviantArt page... ;)And I will redo that model.
Is there a class between you and DJ that hasn't been covered?....umm Enterprise's H and I?
You know, between DJ and Wiley, we've gotten super high quality versions of every Enterprise other than the NX.I guess we are just keeping up with technology. :)
I prefered the Sovie in FC, the Nemisis version had far too many torpedo launchers and the saucer ones were added to the most idiotic places.
good ... now there is no need for me to start from scratch again with my version
Well, unless Wiley doesn't make an ID map, there's no need for mine either JTK LOLWell, at the time of FC there were only 2 Sovereign-class ships, the Sovereign and the Enterprise. Too bad that Max 9 doesn't support animation exporting for BC.
P.S. I would love a nemesis version as well (so badass)!!!!That one already exists-plus the bussards animate.
Well at least not willeycoyote accurate (without disrespecting previous efforts)!
My question is however, could we Possibly get an Insurrection Sovereign to complete the pack?Probably. I could rebuild a new captain's yacht and build the torpedo bay around it. It's doable, but not immediately likely. I'm about done building up the underside of the saucer. Adding this detail brings the mesh up to 7.6k polys.
We could explain the differences between the two models (FC and INS) is that the yacht in FC was simply a placeholder and or not really the captain's yacht....seeing that the new Enterprise was deployed during war time (Dom War/Borg Invasion) by the following year the Dominion War was over so the Enterprise was able to receive her functional captain's yacht by the time of Insurrection. Either way..can't wait to see a WC Sovereign to go with a CG Sovereign LOL get 'er done Wiley!!!!!!!!!!

Actually First Contact takes place shortly before the Dom war because the Season 6 DS9 episode that aired right after First Contact, the one where Sisko was having those visions of that Bajoran city, debuted the new Starfleet uniforms that were in First Contact. Insurrection takes place shortly after the Dominion War after DS9 had ended...as the Enterprise is asked to go to the Goran system because the diplomatic core was busy with Dominion negotiations...and they wanted the Enterprise to 'put out one more brush fire'. That's where I figure that the original captain's yacht was possibly a nonfunctional version..LOL but oh well enough with the offtopic stuff LOL keep up the good work Wiley...
Sorry about the movie debate Wiley lol. You can have your thread back.yes please lol
Wiley, I think it's worth it to add some polygons to the hull around the deflector area. It's a really nice looking model, but I think it's too pointy around there. No problem, I'll add that. Meanwhile, I'm mapping my reference images to my mesh (temporary texture that I slightly altered). This temporary texture will help me greatly when it comes to making my own texture from scratch. The texturing, when I get to it, should look a lot like the Enterprise-E posted from the Drexfiles, but will have a little more detail.
Agreed. I like the bright white finish of the FC model much better than the grey versions from the other two movies.
do you have any plans on using MVAM to make the deflector seperable?why? lol what purpose would that serve?
Say, you charge it full of deflector type particles or whatever they're called, and your other weaopons are gone. Fire off the Deflector and blow it up with a short phaser burstyou can already do this by ejecting the warp core tho lol
If I were to do MVAM for the Sovereign, it would be for John Eaves's unrealized saucer separation. That will require me to rebuild the whole model. Mvaming the captain's yacht sounds more likely to do.
That will require me to rebuild the whole model. Mvaming the captain's yacht sounds more likely to do.
Why not finish that one and make the seperated saucer and drive sections for the MVAM models? Or does MVAM require both sections together?Maybe I'll make the second models better and there will be a noticeable change. Mvam needs 3 models- whole, saucer, and drive section for it to work. I've already noticed some areas I should rebuild. I'll probably just rebuild the whole ship again.
See WC? You have to help break the curse! No problem. Here are the pylons which I got done a few days ago. I'm taking my time with this one. I still have to do the nacelles and I have CG's version side my side so I can see how it was built.
CG, the very fact that Wiley just posted what he posted is testament to what you did.
You may only have a handful of releases to your name(s), but aside from the SNS Galaxy, name one ship from 7 years ago that still sets the standard of accuracy in gaming models.
You crafted a masterpiece. I've never even seen a CGI art model more accurate than yours. The one in the background of the Nemesis DVD menu appears lower poly!
It's not quantity that defines a ModGod, it's quality, and impact on the community.
WC certainly has quantity, and his quality is unsurpassed in the context of today's models. But you did what you did in the still-formative days of this community. Your name stands among the pillars of BC modding, with others like Scotchy, Nanobyte, Dasher_42, Pneumonic81, Mleo, Viper, and others of their time (those were off the top of my head!)
Anyway, rant over.
WC, She's coming along beautifully. It's hard to judge it without the nacelles, they complete the proportions.

CG, the very fact that Wiley just posted what he posted is testament to what you did.I can't compete with CG's Sovereign, I can only come close.
It's not quantity that defines a ModGod, it's quality, and impact on the community.Though yes, I have a lot of mods, the are not truely perfect. They are good practice. My skills are rapidly improving and I am already leaving my mark on the community.

Don't forget about DJ
I can't compete with CG's Sovereign, I can only come close.
By all means, please compete!
The nacelles can be tricky, I've gone through at least 5 or 6 versions of those myself. They're actually a lot flatter and wider than they look, and it took me forever to figure out that the front actually DOES get wider from the front to the back of the bussards.
What polycount are you aiming for on this one if I might ask? I know computers can handle more these days, but I dunno what the current standards are.
Partly, but polygons become a problem when damage starts happening. While high poly models work fine most of the time, the damage engine can bog down calculating the damaged mesh when you get hit.
I think a Dauntless style deflector design would be perfect.I agree. There will be more detail to come.
I've paused construction on the Enterprise-E. I'll resume construction on it once my skills have improved further in the future (maybe a few months). Meanwhile, I'm starting to build my own designs. I still have to build the secondary hull beneath the saucer. I was thinking of something similar to the Dauntless.
That's a nice looking Prokira class you have there! :p
Love it.
The Saucer reminds me a little of the Athena class DJ made, with the pylons of the E-G also by DJ.Those ships did not come to mind when I was building this, but it does show a possible design progression. I've also done a deck count- 30 decks, so it is a bit bigger than a Sovereign class, though the number can easily be changed to reflect a smaller ship.
I think something a bit more unique can be done with the deflector though. Now that I've stared at it for a bit, it looks tacked on to me, like it did on the Dauntless. Seems a bit like someone forgot to make a cut and just slapped it onto the hull.I'll see what I can do with it. I have a few ideas. :)
I say keep it at the size it is. To piss DJ & possibly CG off, you could even call it the E-F :P
If you haven't already created a back story for her Wiley, I've been inspired to write one up. I can post it here if you'd like to see it, although I left the name and registry blank since I don't know what she'll be called yet.Send it to me as a PM. I'd like to read it.
Now why would he go and do that????Yeah, why would I do that? We have a good Ent-F and a G already, beyond that it is anyone's guess. I have a few different designs for the deflector. Textures would add extra detail. I love my new tablet. :)
kinda like my deflector on the Selfridge ASimilar, but I'm looking for something a bit more streamlined.
My vote is on the 3rd option.
Why would calling it the Enterprise-F matter and why/what good would trying to agigate anyone serve? None of these ships are canon so it doesn't matter if names are taken (Not that it'd matter even if they were canon), just as long as the ships all point to unique files.
I've gotta say, as of late it seems a common trend for everyone to throw in names for ships, and while, yes, people do at times ask for some inspiration, it seems extermely common for people to jump to handing out names before the modder is even ready or at that stage of development... Anyway...
Wiley, I'm loving this design. Sharp, sleek and elegant without a doubt. I for one will be keeping a close eye on it (Who am I kidding? I've been following your thread as far back as I can remember. :funny )
Is there a shuttle bay on this beast? The shuttlebay is located top-aft, between the pylons.
im not so sure about the deflector. imo an akira-styled deflector would have been better. That could have looked better, but we have seen it so many times before. We are too comfortable of what we already know. I wanted to do something new.
We are too comfortable of what we already know. I wanted to do something new.
The shuttlebay is located top-aft, between the pylons.Totally agree with you here on this, Wiley. I think the deflector looks great. You could always split it. Lol :)

Totally agree with you here on this, Wiley. I think the deflector looks great. You could always split it. Lol :)
Anyhow, I love this baby, I wish I had come up with it.
the second ship would be the Valiant.bear in mind DJ's USS Valiant (http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/DJ_Valiant_Class;89626); name might cause a slight confusion?
Only nitpick is that the registry number which is white extends off the black into some gray paneling. It's a bit hard to see.I see your point, but that's an easy fix.
More Hiigaran paint schemes in the Federation!I guess? :idk: Sorry, I've never played Homeworld.
Hm, it looks very good, but there are two small issues in my opinion; for one, I'd move the second set of thrusters to just behind the 'corner' on the saucer, just under the dorsal-aft phaser array. The second is the light blue hull colouring blends in with the 'lit' windows.
Are the round windows for recreation or diplomatic decks or are they escape pod hatches?
Darkthunder makes a good point. Hopefully this does not go into an argument.does that mean all star trek ship are doom like the the titanic not having escape pods/boat for every one on board so women and children 1st. Back on note ship looks great and where are the impluse eng ?
I've counted the number of escape pods on existing TNG ships, ~200 escape pods on Ent-E, ~42 pods on Voyager (crew of 141), and around 450 escape pods on the Ent-D for a crew of 1014?. If there is only enough escape pods visible on the hull for only half of the crew, we can assume that there is more inside and shuttlecrafts are being used in emergencies.
I should add more detail to show they are escape pods and not windows.
does that mean all star trek ship are doom like the the titanic not having escape pods/boat for every one on board so women and children 1st.I think I just said that. We have seen ships with no visible escape pods have sections of hull open up to reveal the pods.
Back on note ship looks great and where are the impluse eng ?They are where the yellow glows are emanating from. They are almost flush with the hull.
They are where the yellow glows are emanating from. They are almost flush with the hull.
Just curious Wiley, are you going to have a bridge deck?Who says it doesn't have one already? Maybe starfleet learned that the bridge is too exposed out in the open. It's "inside" the upper module of the saucer.
I dunno why, but this ship gives off a strong "love boat"-vibe.. I could so see this being the Star Trek cruise vessel for newly weds and such..Um, no. That would be the Enterprise-D from seasons 1-3. This one is more like a speedboat.
Um, no. That would be the Enterprise-D from seasons 1-3. This one is more like a speedboat.
Made a relatively crude idea in Photoshop of how I meant it. Currently, those "engines" don't look a whole lot like impulse engines. Obviously, you choose whichever style you want, but this edit is merely to visually aid in how I meant itThough crude, but very nicely executed. They look a little too traditional, but it wouldn't stop me from doing a possible variant. I can still add some grilles to the existing engines. I liked a yellowish color for the impulse engines because that is how John Eaves colored them when he drew up ships designs for ST: Online back when it was by Perpetual.
i like the new eng but they look abit small so i think that they look better a bit bigger if i was you i would change the red back to the yellow

Maybe widen them vertically and add a unique grid design. They would look too big for a ship of this size, and I already have a grille design on them.
This is a really stupit question, but where is the bridge? And what are thouse bumps on top of the ship? Other than that, this really rocks mate
at least have some sort of border around that grid design... right now it looks to odd and doesn't conform around the edges.
bridge is hidden... also what bumps?? you mean the white ovals?? those are the single seat escape pods.
Whats that blue inset on the pylons?
Whats that blue inset on the pylons?Warp plasma manifold. A similar design can be seen on the Enterprise-J. Thanks for answering. I have thought about re-doing the Ent-J. There is enough reference.
No, he means at the very top. There are six of them.Decoration. I think these were on Galen's Legacy-class.
Its a thing of beauty, the shape is simple but elegant, it looks very nice in that lighting tooAnd it's ingame too. :dance
You wouldn't happen to have that last image (Proteus3.jpg) in a widescreen desktop size? cheekySorry, no. That is my biggest game resolution and I do not have a widescreen monitor.
1440x900. Would look awesome as my new wallpaper.
Sorry, no. That is my biggest game resolution and I do not have a widescreen monitor.
It seems, for lack of a better word - unbalanced. If you think the Proteus looks unbalanced, I've started work on my Enterprise-D. I'm paying attention to the smoothing on this one to make it will look perfect. I haven't decided on which version I'm building. The schematics I'm using suggest the 4-footer version, but I like the 6ft version also. I still can add the separation feature but it was used rarely in the series. Anyways, enjoy! The picture does not show off the final smoothing, it's still a work-in-progress.
Giving DJ a run for his money eh?No, his is purely inspiration as is the SNS version (which does not separate).
Wiley, how can it be a true Galaxy if it can't separate?I'll see what I can do about making saucer separation possible.
Galaxy X in the pipeline? We have been needing a new one. I'll think about it. :) it would make some nice screenshots.
Hello all from sunny Anaheim, CA!! Still on vacation but I'm typing this from my laptop in my hotel room.
Awesome work Wiley!
But, I have to state that even though your intent was to have a hidden bridge there's something about seeing that that just... feels disconcerting. It seems, for lack of a better word - unbalanced. Maybe a subtle hump with some "details" added might give it more balance. It just looks like it's missing something, like a ship that's not fully built yet.
Just my opinion of course. Regardless, she looks great.
Does this mean you're releasing the Proteus or halting it?I'll be releasing the Proteus after Tiqhud hardpoints it (I haven't asked him, he's currently working on Furswift's SW ships). Remembering from past history of myself releasing ships, the next possible time for me to release ships would be around Christmas.
If the Galaxy X is on the table, could i suggest a non canon this that would make the pack perfect? A new up to date version of LC's EAV Galaxy would complete the best pack yet. That would be cool, but it's a lot to do. Once I have the ship built, I'll start thinking about variants. People like variants. :)
could always make this the Ent E (alt time frame of course) cause they did have the 6 foot model of the D with the E markings on it (after Gen when they were thinking of what ship to use in the next film)i dont know if im familiar with what youre talking about - do you have a pic of this ship?
If the Galaxy X is on the table, could i suggest a non canon this that would make the pack perfect? A new up to date version of LC's EAV Galaxy would complete the best pack yet. Great work.
The picture was a few ST production guys standing around a large wooden crate inspecting the Generations 1701-D labeled as 1701-E. Though I thought the picture was a joke.
Anyone can rename the Enterprise-D into the E, and I'm surprised no one has done that yet. Maybe it's because no one wants to do that.
EAV Galaxy?I think he meant LC's Galaxy EVO.
eh it's no joke... it was shown on TNG Season 2, Disc 6 DVD box set.Sorry, I'm a casual trekker. I don't own the series only a few episodes. Plus, I think this thread should go back on topic.
If you don't mind my asking are there plans for a Venture-variant as well? The Galaxy Class is much like the Miranda class- lots of variants. Please note- I am not done building the basic Galaxy Class mesh. Variants might be discussed once I have the basic mesh completed.
Sorry, i did mean the EVO,lol, i'v built too many EVAs that i got them on my mind. :funny
If you're hung up with the name, what's wrong with Dauntless? After all, isn't that the ship you command in the single player campaign? The Dauntless ship that was shown in the intro cinematic, was a different variant with flush saucer impulse engines. There would be installation confusions for people trying to get my ship to work for story mode.
Seriously, there are other galaxies besides the Enterprise.Very true, but people grew up with the Enterprise.
I've added the undersaucer windows/yacht and it brings the mesh up to 5.3k polys. I plan for the mesh to be under 10k polys.
I Can't wait to take her through the wormhole and spank the Jem'Hadar with her.
:dance That's it!!! Make it the Odyssey! lol
Mate, when you're content with this model, do you think you could throw up a render with the wireframe overlayed on it? I'm absolutely stumped as to how you've gotten that quality with so few polys! No problem. Just keep everything as an editable poly, use the Cut tool often and check for unwelded verticies. I'm about done with the mesh, and I still have a few areas left to clean up. The final total of the mesh is
I'd actually like to see your dibs on a JJ Connie refit. I know that might not be for a while, though.
I'd actually like to see your dibs on a JJ Connie refit. I know that might not be for a while, though.
it would be really awesome for saucer sepDocking latches clear, saucer separation complete! :dance I will be texturing this soon and the final number of polys is 7.6k.
That is nothing short of amazing!
I guess now would be the time for a varient suggestion?
How about a Galaxy to Galaxy X evolution pack ? If you do go for the Galaxy X that is and if you do it really wouldnt be that much more work since you would already be working your way towards the final Galaxy X model. I've always wanted to see something like that. We already have the Venture as the first step. IF..IF you do go this route maybe put up a poll as to what the next addition should come after the nacelle phasers.
poll options:
pylon fins with extra pair of phasers
?pulse phaser? cannons that flank the bridge
cloaking device housing
BFHBP(Big Freaking Hull-Busting Phaser) cannon
hull addition with extra nacelle, phaser and impulse engines(maybe have extra impulse engines as seperate?)
What do you think Wiley?
I don't want to go off track and get shouted at by Jimmy (lol)i dont shout, i speak loudly and with force :dontcare:
i dont shout, i speak loudly and with force :dontcare: and with a very stylish flair!
How about some tweaking to the model and release a pack that contains a 4 foot version & a 6 foot version! The thing about Trek fans is that they want every ship to be built and as accurately as possible. I think I am fine with my current version, It's close enough for a 4-foot version. I'll play around with the deflector/pylons for the 6ft version. :)
I need to stop looking at this thread, I'm itching to inspect the ship, see if Wiley left any secrets in there.I do have room to add Picard looking out from his ready room.
When I do the Galaxy-X, there will be no other variants of the Galaxy-X type. It wouldn't look right. :dontcare:thank god for that... the gal-x is so stupid looking IMO as it is lol
thank god for that... the gal-x is so stupid looking IMO as it is lolI guess starfleet didn't care about ship looks when they were at war with the Klingons.....umm ST:O? I've made some changes to only the stardrive. It now features a 6 and 4 foot version.
get rid of the extra nacelle and those silly antennae that stick out of the top of the saucer, and maybe it wouldnt be so silly looking...
Didn't one of the models also feature a slightly different impulse engine housing? I'm not sure if its my imagination or not but I think there might be.Even if the impulse housing was different, it is so subtle I haven't noticed. And please NO REFERENCE PICTURES. Also, it is my mesh and I can do what I want with it. :)
And please NO REFERENCE PICTURES.thread title could be renamed :P
Wiley mate, a small headsup, BC "sees" triangular polies, so before you look at the poly count convert to editable mesh (since max count polies in triangular that way, in editable poly it will always be counted as a single poly no matter how many sides they have) and look at it that way ;) That mesh doesn't have 7k but most likely double of that.
A far simpler way is to set the viewports stats to show tri countThat makes the ship now 16.1k polys. I'm starting to texture the upper saucer using DJ's color scheme. I might do something lighter, closer to the studio model's colors. I have also added a slight bevel to the aztec to appear more 3-dimensional. Enjoy. :)
I knew you would not dissapoint on the textures have cookie
Real good.
Take your time Wiley, take your time.
Well it's been a while, about 3 months since an update. I've had a very busy school year, and still do.
2 ships I have been working on- Proteus and Enterprise-D. :)
Proteus- I'm currently hardpointing and I only need help with adding phasers. I can easily do everything else. Please PM me if you want to help me with hardpointing (must have a computer that can handle 2048 pixel-res textures).
Enterprise-D- Still texturing. Saucer is 90% done, stardrive is 50% done. I might be able to get it done for Christmas.
Proteus taking after a certain incomplete something, eh?Um, yes. Curved phaser arcs are very tricky to create so they work correctly ingame. My phasers seem to fire from inside the ship, though the arc is correctly in place. TMP phaser emitters were easier to add.
That is SO not what I meant, but hey! Good to know, dude.Did you mean your Mithra starship?
Did you mean your Mithra starship?
I think that's what Aeries meant. Of course, the Proteus looks a lot smoother and less beefy.......and a lot more complete. lol
you may also want to look at the HP on the Prometheus and Voyager as they have similar phaser arcs. and it may help with setting up the ProteusI'll try that first.
are you trying like 1 arc per phaser strip? how about dividing em up?I've been trying that, but no luck. They are correctly lined up where they should fire from, but whenever I try to tweak the size of the aiming-cone it screws up the position firing from the mesh object. If that makes sense.
I really like it, though I can't shake the feeling like it needs a bridge module and something along the spine.
I have to agree.
I really like it, though I can't shake the feeling like it needs a bridge module and something along the spine.I see what you mean and I could still do another variant. There are a few things I still want to do with the Proteus (new paint scheme, different nacelles, different deflector, additional smoothing, etc).
I really like it, though I can't shake the feeling like it needs a bridge module and something along the spine.
I actually have to disagree. I like the idea of the bridge being hidden.
If you do any modifications to her, please keep this version intact. I think anything else should be variants.
If you do any modifications to her, please keep this version intact. I think anything else should be variants. No problem. Also, to my testers, PMs have been sent. :)
Hideous.I'll top that by saying EPIC FAIL.
Hideous.let's see you do better! oh you cant? ya thats what i thought...
Hideous.
I don't think we're looking at the same ship. I am curious however... Hideous compared to what?
Are you holding this one for christmas or just letting it go whenever it's been tested enough?I'm holding it for Christmas or else I will not have anything else to release.
I don't believe you. There's got to be something else in the pipe! :P
I'm sorry, that's just so hideous. It looks like a frisbee that's been melted in the dishwasher. And the nacelles are the worst part of all. Yes, it's textured well and the model is well done, but it's just an ugly design.
Hideous.
I'm sorry, that's just so hideous. It looks like a frisbee that's been melted in the dishwasher. And the nacelles are the worst part of all.insulting someone's work as rudely as this, with such an arrogant and snotty tone, is not tolerated here - so do it again and youll be banned ok?
You just keep managing to top yourself each time. That's what I try to do. I might have another Proteus-inspired ship design coming soon.
Sorry for not posting anything in a while-- finals week.
That's what I try to do. I might have another Proteus-inspired ship design coming soon.
I might have another Proteus-inspired ship design coming soon.And here's a teaser: http://trekmodeler.deviantart.com/#/d34df88
I see what you mean about the Spoon look but that side profile looks amazing. Can't wait to see more of this development.
Well, I suppose that makes sense, keeps people from going, "Well, I really like the look of that, I think I'll use it and change it just a little and use it myself."Exactly and to reduce early criticisms of other people's work.
Exactly and to reduce early criticisms of other people's work.
Just like stourangeau (Titan designer), I've removed all traces of my Enterprise-F from my deviant art page as stated in the official rules for the contest.
Would this mean it prevents the BC Community from getting a chance to play with your Enterprise-F before the Contest has ended?Yes (most likely).
Would this mean it prevents the BC Community from getting a chance to play with your Enterprise-F before the Contest has ended?
Grrrr way to get my hopes up WileyIt gives me time to complete my orthographic views in Illustrator.
I've submitted my version of the next Enterprise for the ST:Online contest. It will appear shortly in the gallery.
http://www.startrekonline.com/enterprise/gallery?share=1120
Thanks. :D First, you have to have Illustrator. Then a few sketches of what you want to draw.
Two of the best reimagined 1701s ever, and you've done them both justice Wiley. Great work. Have a cookie on me.Thanks for that. :D Another ship off of my list.
is it just me or is this ship like.. HUGEMONGANTIC? reaally tiny windows make it look big. Bigger than Ent-E IMHO..It has the same problem as the JJ-prise. I've sized the ship to be about the same size as the Ent-A. It is personal preference.
guess who will win Jan modder of the month for this beauty :yay:
Oh my vote is definitely going on this one, and i'll make sure he's nominated :Pif ya beat me to it then I'll vote for sure on this one !
yeah yeah, which means Kirk and co. are giants of aroung 8 meter hieght :P
Well this is completely unexpected and awesome. Thanks again. I thought it would be nice to have a surprise once in a while.
its a different universe
The whole JJPrise is 700+ meters is caused primarily by visual effects screw ups. If you compare the saucer section of the JJPrise to the TMP Enterprise, the saucers are virtually identical in many aspects. Obviously that would make the ships overall size virtually identical as well.
Are we really going to talk about THIS here when we have such a wonderful piece of work by Wiley to drool over?
very cool! is this a one-time thing? will it be for today?I'll be doing it twice today- 1pm and 7pm Central Time. I'll do more tutorials/ships later.
Have the shows been recorded, Wiley?Yep, and it is already posted.
Achilles/Proteus hybrid in progress. I will be building it tomorrow on LIVESTREAM 1/5 at 1pm.
Gprise looks amazing, what texture sizes are those?4 are 2048px res, and the rest are considerably smaller size, but it is 82.4MB total.
quick question - will this ship have pulse phasers as well as regular phasers?Yep.
quick question - will this ship have pulse phasers as well as regular phasers?
Yep.excellent :D
If people keep making such awesome ships, soon I'll run out of HD space! The way technology is going you will have no problem.
The way technology is going you will have no problem.
hopefully, that won't happen in the near future.
Added the Proteus-styled secondary hull and a traditional deflector trench.... nova stylew nacelles.... very sleek. you know what i mean? upside pylons and no downside pylons? i think that could look awesome.
... nova stylew nacelles.... very sleek. you know what i mean? upside pylons and no downside pylons? i think that could look awesome. You maybe onto something. It could look more like the Aventine. I'll try it.
I still prefer your original re-design over the raised nacelles, maybe if you did two versions? I still would like to see the ship as you first designed it.

SAME HERE!!
I must agree.
If you want upswept nacelles, I think it would be better if the secondary hull didn't sweep up as well. Feels now as though it were a wheelbarrow or handcart if you get my drift.im afraid i have to agree with the rest... the nacelles did seem to fit better in your original design rather than their current location...
im afraid i have to agree with the rest... the nacelles did seem to fit better in your original design rather than their current location...No problem, wrapped nacelles it is. The current arrangement is rough and not to its final refinement.
Much better. :] Amazing work as usual.
I had another idea. If you still want to try upswept pylons, you could do something similar to DJ's Athena. Just fill in the space at the back a bit more and have the pylon/secondary hull join at the bottom.I never was a true fan of ships that had pylons connecting from the very bottom, but the Protector was an exception. Anyways, I've added the "wrapped" pylons, and pulse cannons near the bridge. The blue grille will be located in-between the pylons on the inside of the nacelle. Also, the current saucer impulse configuration is that of the Akira class, other than having a clunkier one obstructing the smooth flow of the saucer to the engineering hull.
Maybe spend a few extra polys smoothing out the pylons. They're a little choppy imo. Otherwise I really like the design you've got going :]
Maybe spend a few extra polys smoothing out the pylons. They're a little choppy imo. Otherwise I really like the design you've got going :]It's really close to your Mithra-class starship. I've fixed the pylons and soon I'll be working on the deflector area.
It's really close to your Mithra-class starship. I've fixed the pylons and soon I'll be working on the deflector area.
It is mega close, too, you're right. I LOVE what you did with the Pylons and nacelles tho... they're pretty much what I always wanted, but I was never sure how to implement it.It's close to your version 1 of the the Mithra. Your current version is still unique. I've started working on the deflector area, and I have some sort of Sovereign-Akira engineering thing going on to keep with traditional designs. I'm liking it. I still have yet to add a few polies to smoothen out the roundness of the trench rim and I'll add some misc surrounding details soon.
How big is she going to be?Since I've now added the bridge, it will probably be about the same size as the Proteus, basically around the size of the Enterprise-E. maybe a bit bigger. I'll know when I start texturing.
ooooh - are those starboard and port pulse cannons also?Yep.
I am curious as to what that flat rectangular structure is behind the bridge though. Will that be the bussard housing for the auxiliary warp drive? The bridge module itself is decoration. I'll texture some escape pods on either sides. The rectangular bit on the very top of the ship is a thru-deck fighter/shuttlebay that will launch Valkyrie fighters. Yes, I will build them too. :D Plus, you wouldn't want shuttles crashing into the bridge all of the time.
Also have you put any thought into the Ventral armaments?I'll work on it now. Along with RCS thrusters, more Defiant bits, etc. The current poly count is 5k polys, but around 10.6k tris.
ooooh - are those starboard and port pulse cannons also?
Yep.sweeeeetness!! :D
sweeeeetness!!I didn't know it was possible to make Jimmy this excited to the point where he is only replying a single word. :funny

I've added phasers, torpedo launchers and misc details. The current poly count is 4.5k polies, and 9.5 tris. Enjoy! :D
That is beastly and sexy all at the same time.Umm, thanks?
And I love the little pulse cannons on the port and starboard side... but weren't they supposed to be dorsal torpedo launchers? There are many variants for the Achilles ship- with or without extra weapons. I think it is personal preference for added weapons. I didn't want to go overboard with weapons.
Personally I would like to see those side launchers be used for torpedoes, because the only other ship that features that ability currently is the Akira.Good thing I modeled them the same. I can have alternate hardpoints.
Can't wait to see the paint job you're gonna give this beast. Here's a small sample. The textures are a combination of Sovereign and Akira, and some flowing hull panels similar to the Proteus class. This could possibly be the "war-refit" of the Proteus class, since it uses a similar hull shape.
Curious, is the name U.S.S. Coercion what you actually intend to name the ship or is this temporary for just showing where the registry will be placed? That's the class name and the ship. It means enforcement/confinement/command/menacing. Using a thesaurus is good way to find scifi sounding names.
Excellent, great bevelling, keep up the good work!
By the way, Wiley. Have any recent pics of your Galaxy? I'm dying to see that thing.
By the way, Wiley. Have any recent pics of your Galaxy? I'm dying to see that thing.Wow, DJ wanted an update, here you go. These are most recent pics of the ship so far. I haven't worked on it in a while, and I still have many areas yet to texture/map (this was done before I knew how to correctly map a mesh). It may not be as good as DJ's, but it is a runner-up alongside of Scotchy's.
Looks great, Wiley. I really like the back of the interhull and the nacelles. The textures look spot on, too.
Coercion... bit of an aggressive name for a federation ship, isn't it?I agree. I could easily change it. I'm still not 100% happy with the name. Hopefully I won't be flooded with name suggestions.
Hopefully I won't be flooded with name suggestions.lol
Those textures are taking it to the next level. Really nice detail there.Thanks. :) I got the basic underside paneling done, and now starting on the windows. I now decided to call the ship the Argonaut. It sounded better.
The Argo Class, USS Argonaut perhaps? That could work. Trying not to get it confused with the shuttle from Nemesis.
Just thought I'd say, DJ named his TNG Ambassador the Argonaut. So much for that name. This thread is going to have to be cleaned up. I do like the other Argonaut names, Echion maybe? I could just go back to Coercion.
could always add an A at the end :P
This thread is going to have to be cleaned up.i'll take care fo that later for ya... :)
guys i think wiley has enough ideas for names..I agree. it is going to be the next Argonaut ship- same registry as his refit Ambassador, but with a -A. Here's a view of the underside paneling.
Well since Wiley has been helping me on the Sentinel, I have been steadily giving him references for the Valkyrie fighter from Star Trek: Invasion, as well as the actual in-game model that was created by Warthog for the PS1 classic, that I had acquired. So this time around it will be as close as it possibly can to the actual fighter. :D
While I was working on the Argonaut ship, DJ has inspired me to build the Enterprise-E again. I do not have much to show on the overall ship yet, but I'm really happy how I modeled Captain's Yacht area. Enjoy this small update. :D
TWO! Sovvies's in one year Blasphemy! This year has just started. :D I'm about done with mine, I have yet to build the pylons, but I am VERY happy of how it is looking. I might have something to post fairly soon, maybe in a few days. My Sovereign class is built for the upcoming ST: Invasion ship pack.
Haha, Good look on the Ship.

So, the U.S.S. Sentinel instead of the Enterprise? Both.
No this version of the Sentinel will be based off of the Eaves final refit. :D It will really set the ship apart from the traditional Sovereign, not to mention look completely Awesome!! LOL
Woot! I loved ST invasion, would the Titan have blue phasers like it did in the game?It is way to early to start guessing what weapons the Typhon will have. I'll have to play the game again to confirm each ship's weapons.
Words simply cannot accurately convey how awesome that is.I know, I surprised myself when building this.
I guess I can hang up my Sov pack then :P As yours looks better not textured than what I'm working on that IS textured LOL
Will you make the textures accurate to the FC/INS Sovereign?More or less, with some creative license.
Wiley..are you gonna unify the mesh like DJ did with his Sovereign? so that it has a fast frame rate?Other than the nacelles, the phasers/torpedo launchers and yacht, the whole mesh is a single object (unified).
Cool...how many textures are we lookin at for this one? 4? or maybe 5?It's too early to tell, but that is what I'm shooting for.
Sorry wiley order of progression says u gotta do it in one since dj did it in 2 lol good luckSorry, I do not truely follow the "order of progression." DJ's earlier ships used multiple maps- I'm just trying to reduce the number, and make the maps much cleaner for modding use. Soon, maybe in a year or two, I can compare to DJ's current skill.
maybe in a year or two, I can compare to DJ's current skill.
When (anybody) makes textures, there are different ways of going about it. One way is not necessarily better than another, it just depends.Well said. It is not about how one does the textures (kinda does, number of textures and size do take effect), but it is all about the final look and product.
For example, You could have 1 large texture map, or several smaller ones. If you want animated maps, you're going to have several small textures just for that. So there isn't really an order of progression.
Anyhow, looking forward to seeing the update.Nice to know. :)
IMHO u already are at his level, you just have your own style :)
That is an awesome model WC.And here's a slight texture update. It's still a WIP- many things are not yet textured, but the coloring is close to final. The colors are based from the physical studio model, and the speculars I will add later will make them look grayer. Enjoy! :)
That looks good. That aztec is a pain, eh?
That looks good. That aztec is a pain, eh?Yep. But it's worth it.
Glad to see you noticed the small details to the escape podsIllustrator helped a lot with the small details.
You masked off that aztec for a physical model once, didn't you Wiley?Yep. Both have about the same level of difficulty.
Hey Wiley, I know you request no reference pics but I may have discovered something interesting and wanted to show these for discussion's sake, (not that I want to high jack your thread either). In Insurrection there is a scene where the Enterprise fires two aft torpedoes at the incoming Son'a, even though aft launchers aren't physically modeled in until Nemesis. However, I may have found the launcher on the Insurrection model anyways.
When Picard and Worf are leaving the Enterprise there is an object protruding just below the red stripe before the large set of windows. You can see it has a definite Shadow and almost looks like it could be a launcher. But I have never seen a reference pointing it out as such and it only appears to be a light in First Contact. Perhaps it is just a light, but when I seen it in Insurrection a moment ago it made me do a double take. It would certainly explain those two torpedoes in the film.
You can ignore this of course if you think it's irrelevant here. I just thought I would share and see if anyone else noticed.
Hey Wiley am I right in assuming you're also using the Nemesis Renders as a reference for the Aztecing?Yep.
I actually Believe that would be a tractor beam emitter
However, I may have found the launcher on the Insurrection model anyways.Actually, you are both wrong. It is a navigational light- check the images from First Contact. The tractor beam emitters are on the lower parts of the engineering hull- one very near the deflector and one on the aft-belly of the engineering hull. The aft torpedoes (according to FC/INS John Eaves sketches) are supposed to be just above the aft tractor emitter, but that is not featured on the studio model. The emitter itself seems to be the launcher. I'll follow the sketches.
Yep.
Yep. Both have about the same level of difficulty.
Sorry for the lack of updates, school has been bogging me down, but I have had an awesome week. :D
Gabriel Koerner has been emailing me about my BC version of his Constitution class. Gabe tells me that the geometry for his original model (the one in the calendar) has been lost due to a many hard drive crashes and had no backup to retrieve it. Due to the "spot on" accuracy with my BC mod, he is going to use it as reference for assisting in the construction of his new model. :dance
Now to work on my portfolio.... :funny
a tad too brown isnt it?...I'm going off the exact FC studio model colors. The CGI model in Insurrection was in grays. Once I do the specular highlights, the ship should look grayer.

This is the insurrection model right? So there are no deck 29's?Yes and yes.
and also no torpedo launcher behind the bridge? Not on the INS version. I also plan on doing the Nemesis version, Eave's Post-Nem version, and the USS Sentinel. The INS Enterprise-E and the Sentinel for being made for the ST: Invasion ship mod.
And that "raised kinda platform" at the shuttlebay?Really small details like that are barely noticeable. I'll add a faint bevel to those areas of the texture.
Eave's Post-Nem version
NO! I can't wait! I can't...*realizes how many other games I have to play* ummm...never mind. lol
WOW this is AWSOME, and im just going to say that since this is from insurrection, maybe we should have a new captains yacht to go with her?The yacht is modeled separately and it will separate. It is untextured at the moment- but yes, a whole new captain's yacht.

The yacht opening is textured.
Wiley, I hate you cheeky...I hate how you make it seem soooo easyThis summer, I WILL do a livestream tutorial on mapping and texturing. It seemed difficult to do at first, but practice makes
they load like a gun magazine..but from above like a Bren GPMGNice idea! The area for the torpedoes is very tight. Don't blame me, I didn't design it. :funny

The yacht is modeled separately and it will separate. It is untextured at the moment- but yes, a whole new captain's yacht.YES!!! :yay: :yay:  and that cutouts where it will be looks awsome, one question, are you going to script it so when you launch the yacht it actually detaches from the hull and folds out like in the film and this is in a cutscene? cuz that would be really awsome.
are you going to script it so when you launch the yacht it actually detaches from the hull and folds out like in the film and this is in a cutscene? cuz that would be really awsome.I have never scripted anything like that before. The yacht has a lot of moving parts- the pylons fold down, and the nacelles turn as they go down. That would be a lot of parts to move and possibly more ways for it to not work.
Nice idea! The area for the torpedoes is very tight. Don't blame me, I didn't design it. :funny
will it have the concept saucer separation? No.
There's a slight lip with a ladder under the hatch into the saucer in the CGI version which Wiley doesn't seem to have (could be the angle), makes the hatch make more sense with the shape of the hull (the scoop) behind it.
Otherwise, yeah, it's a dead ringer.
Guys, this is a very small and tiny area of the ship, and we are nitpicking it. I'm not going to change it.
AMEN!:funny
Guys, this is a very small and tiny area of the ship, and we are nitpicking it. I'm not going to change it.
just found a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txvygvZgCWo&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txvygvZgCWo&feature=related)) which could be used to make a bridge set for the yacht, and ive been doing some looking around and ive learnt from the film just exactaly how the whole yacht detachement scene works.
Looks good Wiley!! How many texture maps are we lookin at for this badboy?4 2048px textures (not including speculars), 1 1024px texture for the captain's yacht. This is considerably less than my other ships. The polycount is around 18.7 tris.
but any chance to do a USS Sovereign registry as well?
AANDD!! Blanks of course so we can make our own registries and variants...The ship is not mapped for ID-swapping, unless you want additional textures. It would take me a little longer. As I recall, some of DJ's ships do not have this function. Plus, do we honestly need 10+ Sovereign ships, when we only play with a few?

Plus, do we honestly need 10+ Sovereign ships, when we only play with a few?Funny but after Connie refit v.2 pack I realised there's no point to make 20+ ships while they differ only in registries while each reg map is 4 up to even 12 mb... besides from what I can tell, they are used in complex-eye-candy-pictures anyway :P

I'll be satisfied with old good E-E, thank you :)
I wanted to remind you I am just a fan modeler, my model is in no way official, so you should not really be using it for reference, think of this sort of thing as like copying with analogue tapes - if you make copies from the source you get the best quality, but if you keep copying from other copies then you get lower quality results - in modeling terms I'm saying you get inaccuracies if you use another fan model as your reference, as a modeler you should take the time to look at the concept art and make your own judgements about how this area should fit, it feels wrong to be seeing my own choices (and the flaws that go with them) showing up in other peoples workI didn't mean to disrespect or "ripoff" your work. Your version seemed the most complete of that area. I did use your picture as inspiration, but I agree with your comment. I will make the appropriate changes to my textures to differentiate from yours. After looking at mine again, I could definitely change it- no hassle.
I didn't mean to disrespect or "ripoff" your work.
some people tell me I should shut up and be flattered when this happens, but I prefer to give the advice than be flatteredCriticism creates a better result in the end. :) I'll make the changes.
Maybe the torps are kept in a vertical fashion rather than horizontally, like a magazine.
As a side note, in reference to your Invasion pack, Trek Core just added some new wallpapers and concept art for Star Trek Invasion that might be helpful in constructing the Valkyries, the Typhon, and the other random fighters that you blow up in that game. Thanks, but I already had those images before Trekcore posted them.
Maybe the torps are kept in a vertical fashion rather than horizontally, like a magazine.
Well, that's a good idea, but all the technical specs of launchers I have ever seen made them look much longer than what room there is in the image.
Thanks, but I already had those images before Trekcore posted them.
I think you missed my point. My issue isn't with Wiley's work, which is phenomenal. My issue is with the design of the ship itself. Seems an oversight to have kept both those items in the same spot. No need to get snooty . . . ;)
why 4 or 5 while you can do it with 1 ;)???? how?
???? how?I think you just do a phaseing transition?
???? how?
SDT is your friend ;) simple map swap when rejoining yacht with ship so the nacelles appears powered down, simple, effective and takes much less space... besides, bussard animations are looped, dunno if animated map would do the job here, I'm no expert thoThe simple map swap sounds easy to do. I've started on the alpha channel and the upper saucer's specular highlights. I'm beginning to like it. :D
Sweet Jesus!
Relax, Doctor. I'm sure they're just here to give us a sendoff!
gonna be spoiled when this and other Sovvies in the works come out :hithead: already stuck between Bones's, JLs's and a hard place...lol
you could use the values i did for DJ's Ent-E, seeing as he did use em, i did manage to balance it quite well, could be worth looking into.Probably. Making the hardpoint is the only thing I may need assistance on (too early at this time to tell).
Your work is always  WC! Glad to see you're still at it :thumbsup:Never give up! Never surrender! :) I plan on posting additional updates tomorrow.

Is that a hint as to what you're picking up next?Who knows, you might see it later this summer. Maybe, maybe not. :P

You do realize by saying that you WILL be making that...if not you'll have a LOT of GQ people after you with pitchforks and shovelsAnd to ease any worries (if they are worrying) I have most/if not all references for GQ ships (both blu-ray pics and accurate schematics).
And to ease any worries (if they are worrying) I have most/if not all references for GQ ships (both blu-ray pics and accurate schematics).
Now, onward to finishing the FC/INS Enterprise-E.
Another cookie...and I just found my new wallpaper!
I'm really interested to see what you can do with the post-Nemesis refit.I'm thinking colored specular maps.
Any chance you're planning to release with it with blank registry maps?Currently, the ship is not using the ID map-swapping feature. It could be a separate download (too early to make a decision).
This is truly awesome stuff. Just one thing that I found odd with it is that the photon torp launchers are lit red and the quantum launchers are lit blue. Were they ever lit during the movie?
No, but let's allow him a bit of creative license. :angel
What was the final poly count on this bad boy again???The poly count is 18.8k tris. The mesh takes damage VERY well. I just need to tweak the phasers on the hardpoint- I'm using the Hawkeye Sovereign HP.
Words cannot describe what we are seeing here...
Never said that he was wrong in doing it. Just that it caught my attention and didn't know if it was like that in the movies.
regarding the launchers, they don't seem to be lit in any screen caps I can find so I'd personally go with unlit. No problem.
Potentially stupid question: your FC model and INS model are one and the same right?Yep.
Also, are you doing a Nemesis version?Yes, because Meteorafallen wants the USS Sentinel to be a tweaked Post-Nemesis variant, and the Nemesis version would be easy to do.
Another question? Are you going to release the FC/INS along with the NEM/Sentinel Sov in one pack? or release the FC/INS as one pack and then the Sentinel/NEM as a separate pack? Also even though the ship isn't rigged for the skinning and damaging tool..Id like to have a blank just for a run of the mill production Sov.
release the FC/INS as one pack and then the Sentinel/NEM as a separate pack?Good idea- keep the ships only for ST Invasion Pack in one pack. Many people probably just want to play with the Enterprise and not the other ships. I'll make the changes to my WIP list. CptBenSisko assumed correct. Both or all 3 Enterprise-E variants could be in a single pack.
Wylie, could you give a quick explanation of how you get the window textures to have such realistic depth (with an apparent interior)? Or would that be better as a live tutorial? No tutorial for the windows. Just have all of the lit windows in a single layer- use the layer properties/palette and add a color overlay (the bluish tint). Then add a pattern overlay (and use multiply, overlay, etc, so the color shows through) and change the scale to that most of the windows look uniquely detailed.
I'll play around with it and see what I can do...That's how I learn.
I'm a little confused... will WC be releasing 4 ships in one pack or just the INS model? I don't really care either way as I probably will use the FC/INS model anyways...Depending on the final texture sizes for the ships, I could release each ship individually instead of together. It would reduce download size.
What will the USS Sentinel feature exactly? The ship will be a Post-Nemesis variant featuring darker hull coloring similar to ST: Invasion, extra set of saucer impulse engines and altered nacelles (they won't be big like the original game). Meteorafallen's website has the same information and pics of the original ship used in the game.
To quote the good Doctor again:
"Oh WOW!"
(there seems to be some mip-mapping going on in your renders from the aft viewpoint - spoils the warp field grills a little - just FYI)
My thought was more of the line of
"Sweet Jesus!" :P
Excellent Work as usual
I'm currently making the Nemesis version, and I am taking my time with it to ensure all of the coloring matches the movie.
Fan-Freaking-tastic!!! Can't wait to see it!!!I think I am now happy with my color choices for the Nemesis version. :D
Wow! The color scheme looks phenomenal. I did see the raised arches extending from the main shuttle bay area, so does that mean you adjusted the position and angled of the pylons, as well?Yes. The pylons are higher and so are the nacelles.
glad you're not going too dark grey with the nemesis version, I've always preferred the lighter colouringI'm happy you approve.
Hey Wiley, which variant of your model do you like best?I can't give you an answer, because I am not done with the variants.
I can't give you an answer, because I am not done with the variants.
Its not like the Nemesis Sovvy was a gun boat like the Akira.... Not to take it off topic but all they did was give the Sovvy 4 extra phasers which i believe should have been there all along...and a couple extra single fire torp launchers...
Will you release these two Sovereigns on BC Files or some place else?I have no clue.
Well hopefully you wont keep these beauties to yourself :PWill you release these two Sovereigns on BC Files or some place else?I have no clue.
BTW, are these Hardpointed yet?
If hardpointing is not your thing I'd love to give it a try (if you want, of course).
Well hopefully you wont keep these beauties to yourselfI'll release them eventually. I'll do what everyone else is doing, upload to filefront, and give a link to my photobucket page containing pics- because one pic is not enough.
BTW, are these Hardpointed yet?I'm currently using a modified Hawkeye Sovereign hardpoint that works very good. There are still a few bugs to work out. The FC Enterprise is using a cleaned-up version of the quantum torpedoes I used for the Proteus, and new photon torpedoes that look really close to the ones firing from the Akira ship in FC (sfx from FC as well). The Nemesis version will have different weapons than the FC version.
One step closer to the Post-Nemesis variant. I'm very excited to see that. :dance
You should show these to John Eaves, especially the Post-Nemesis version. I'm sure he would love to see the awesome work you have done to his baby.
you might want to use the JLS hardpoint for the nemesis sovy. its pretty damn close to nemesis. All aft torps should have been pulse firing though.
you might want to use the JLS hardpoint for the nemesis sovy. its pretty damn close to nemesis.Already have and received permission to use said hardpoint.
One thing though, in the second image the phaser strips on the pylons look a bit warped and the top end seems to have been cut off at an angle. Could just be the angle of the shot though. It's probably just the angle. It looks fine ingame.
All aft torps should have been pulse firing though.
I actually make all photon launchers pulse firing and script the quantum launcher to be a normal torpedo tube. I do this because we never see the quantum's being fired in rapid volley on screen in either DS9 or the films. The Sovereign-class was never seen in DS9. I'm happy that the quantums are pulse-based and the photon torpedoes are regular torpedoes. You can do whatever you want in your own personal install, or you can upload an optional hardpoint with the changes. I'm happy with what I already have.
Surely an Excelsior style one would have fit better?I don't know. I kind of like the existing impulse engines.
any chance possibly to make another model with this one that has a Galaxy-class kind of deflector? i do really like this ship, but the deflector is what almost kills it for me lolI can do a variant. It would be easy to do.
i know, i know; ship requests are a no-no lol
yay!! :D :yay: :dance
I just hope this isn't a start of a flood of request...if it is I blame you Jimmy :P LOLship requests are generally a no-no, but i get a free pass since im VIP and have been around this scene for like 8 years; ive paid my dues, so there :dontcare:
drop the vulcan logic. I was just kidding! Of course!i suspected you were, but i was also just trying to set the general record straight about that, in case others might have thought it as serious or took you as serious...

Slight update- I'm nearing completion with the Probert Ambassador and it will be near the 16-18k poly mark. Pictures coming soon. :)
Saucer sep?Not for this one.
Not for this one.
Am I the only one thats realised that most of this ship screams JJverse?
Am I the only one who's noticed how cheerful this ship is? :D
Looking good, Wylie! What program do you make these renders in?Thank you. I made these renders in the same program I built the ships- Autodesk 3ds Max 2010.
Also, any headway on a post-Nemesis Sovereign variant yet?Not yet. Keep in mind, that I just got done with 2 ships- the FC and the Nemesis variant of the Enterprise-E. Mvam is being very tricky with the captain's yacht, and I may need help.
That's interesting. I use Max for everything as well, but I always have obnoxious lighting issues on my renders. I guess I'll have to play around with the lighting options to find a better render setting. Thanks for the info!
The neck detail...will you add slats in at the front like you were originally going to do with your first attempt at doing the proto Ambassador. Like the Excelsior neck, instead of just a plain texture.I don't think I will be adding that. That would be a lot of extra unneeded detail.
i love it! great job wiley. Perhaps a bit more blue? Like the ambassador (i'm colorblind so if it wasn't blue my apologies)
Are you going to do Enterprise textures for her as well Wiley? There is a good possibility.
Did notice however, that the registry on one side is reversed and the yacht has no icon. (see image)I already know about the flipped registry, and I cannot fix that currently. I was thinking about that when I was texturing that area. If I were to fix it, I will have some slight issues with the alpha channel for that area due to the spotlight.
Also, the nemesis version doesn't seem to be able to separate the yacht, was this intentional? The Nemesis version does not have the mvam ability with the yacht, and they mixed up the screencaps for the nemesis version also.
EDIT: Here I am talking about beta and you already released it. Stupid me.I'll most likely get around patching the Sovereigns when I start working on the Sentinel variant.
:serious: :whenitsdone :duh::yeahthat: :whenitsdone
when r u going to release all these modsWhen I am done building, texturing, and hardpointing them. My list keeps me in order of what I am currently building, or have built, or have yet to build...if that makes sense. :funny
Cookie For You Wiley! I think I am going to have to do a WC Only install if you keep up this work man! Been amazing to see you progress from mod to mod! Thanks. That's very nice to hear. :)
Will she have Slipstream?Yes- all Proteus-variant ships will have Slipstream.
Also, as for weapons loadout will she be on par with the Achilles or something a little more conventional? The weapons will a combination of the Achilles and Akira.
Yes- all Proteus-variant ships will have Slipstream.
The weapons will a combination of the Achilles and Akira.
Btw LOVE what you did with the Command Delta! Thanks. It was simple to make. The main hardpoint is close to being finished, but I'm having slight issues with the aft phasers. I have yet to add slipstream and blinkers. Almost forgot, I was going to add brand-spankin' new Valkyrie fighters to this ship and have them launch.
Almost forgot, I was going to add brand-spankin' new Valkyrie fighters to this ship and have them launch.
Willey, your wips are to much impressive. Even more when we see that you?re doing low or medium polly meshes. You?re one of the bests, as DJ Curtis and Baz.Thank you. The hardpoint for the Argonaut is very close to being perfected, and I need to add blinking lights. Now to work on the Valkyrie fighter. Also, I've noticed that screenshots are now working at BCfiles. :yay:
I usually do a conversion back for 3ds max, and the meshes still looks dammed good. Cookie for you!.
Can't wait to see the new Valkyrie. Here you go! I would like to thank Meteorafallen for all of the very helpful reference pictures and the ACTUAL game mesh for reference. The mesh is currently 1.5k polys and is not smoothed out yet.
Beautiful!!! Insta-cookie!

Btw, could you take a picture of this ship around earth (that's my best planet texture) or the moon. I think the ship looks absolute amazing around that.I could do that. The Valkyrie is being mapped and textured now.
wow Wiley you just keep churning out great models the Proteus, Argonaut and now the Valkyrie fighter, i wonder what your gonna do next :D Awsome work Wiley.
Probably finishing up the Sentinel. :pNope.
wow Wiley you just keep churning out great models the Proteus, Argonaut and now the Valkyrie fighter, i wonder what your gonna do nextCheck page 1 of this thread- the massive list.
could you possibly post a side-by-side comparison between this and your old Valkyrie? Something looks different, but I can't quite place it.
Hey Wiley, are you going to give the Valkyrie Invasion-esque weapons (Type 10 and Type 9 phasers, 10x Photons and Quantums) or create something a little different?Currently, the Valkyries use the same weapons as my first release, but the pulse phasers are different. Also, the Argonaut now launches them. :dance
That things looks like a beastThe ship's ribbing, to my surprise, is the easiest part to build than parts of the ship. They are actually modeled to the ship and not individual parts.
Also, happy birthday to me! :D
The movie it took place in wasn't the most popular Star Trek. I still thought the ships were cool though. Look forward to this one

The movie might be "generally" regarded as less popular than most of them, but in retrospect, I firmly believe it was better than the P.O.S that came after it, named 'Nemesis'. F Murray Abraham (Ruafo) is certainly a better actor, and a better villain, than Tom Hardy (Shinzon) was.
:yeahthat: :ot:or collector ship ? tho I don't know what purpouse it would serve in combat :P I doubt it had any ship-to-ship weapons, otherwise it would not need escort ... just thinking out loud :P but really, a Sona pack would be so cool :D great work so far
Wiley, that detail is amazing! You have any plans of doing Ruafo's ship as well?

You have any plans of doing Ruafo's ship as well?It depends on what mood I'm in when I'm done with the battleship.
I think we should stop talking about which TNG movie was better and get back to talking about BC mods. My original question was answered.
what about the other sona ship? I think, it has never been done before. There are 3 known Sona ships- the Battleship, the Collector, and Ruoffo's Flagship. Let's just see how well the Battleship goes first.
Any news on your in-progress Galaxy class? You started the Sovvie in the middle of its texturing and haven't seemed to go back to it...My skills have changed since then. I'll most likely rebuild the ship and re-create the textures.

I'm working on the Proto-Ambassador again. This time, I'm adding extra colors to the hull plating to simulate a TMP/TNG effect. I've also included a small texture sample showing the colors I have used. It's very subtle, but the speculars will enhance the effect.
Nice dude... although I have to say that the deflector may be correct to the original source but it's somewhat... bland looking.I'm not quite done with that area yet.
Just a small thing is the bottom of the stardrive the final unwrap as looks a tad wonky.Yea, it gets bad in a few places, but it is getting fixed.

I really Love this project, can't wait to see it finished - Wish they USED this as another ship after not using it for the Ent - C :(
Nice dude... although I have to say that the deflector may be correct to the original source but it's somewhat... bland looking.Actually, I love the deflector like that.
Still, outstanding work.
Agreed! This could have made an excellent Melbourne for the Wolf 359 battle! :)
Actually, I love the deflector like that.
Great, brilliant, fantastic work, Wiley!
Well, we already have two canon Melbournes, why not a third when TNG HD hits? Let's lobby Drexler and Okuda!
Yea, it gets bad in a few places, but it's getting fixed
Ambassador's looking very nice, good job! Also I'm glad to see Star Trek Online's Enterprise-F is on your to-do list.
I'm now texturing the nacelles, then I'll add the lit windows and other miscellaneous details to the rest of the ship. Enjoy!

It's ingame, and now all that is left to do is tweak the hardpoint, add blinkers and create the Enterprise registry.
how many textures are we talkin with this one WC?4- 2048px res textures with their same size specular maps.
4- 2048px res textures with their same size specular maps.
nice...i can't wait to see you attempt to build a new Connie refit in this same style/unifed mesh...I now try as much as possible to reduce the amount of objects it takes to make a ship-- have only the saucer, engineering hull with neck and pylons, and warp nacelles. Though this changes ship to ship.
Now if you don't mind a small reminder albeit a minor one... don't forget to redo the texture of your Sovereign's where the Starfleet pennant text is reversed... the one on the secondary hull.
Wiley your concept Ambie is the most beautiful ship you have ever made, well done ladThank you. :) Just wait until I start on the Galaxy Class again.
its amazing..first it was the SNS and CGSov were the very best for the Galaxy and Sovereign class...then DJ goes and releases his Galaxy and then his Sovereign..and they are the best.. and still rated very highly.. now we have Wiley going in reverse..first with the Sovereign, and the Amby proto type, Excel, Connie/ConnieR and now the Galaxy...next we just need a canon Ambassador and we have all 6 Enterprises done once again LOL
Thank you. :) Just wait until I start on the Galaxy Class again.
Though I wonder; will you be leaving the saucer rim overall bare, or will that receive hull paneling as well?If you mean the saucer and engineering "sensor strips" going around the very sides of these sections, they will be plain, but a blue color. According to my references, these areas did not have much detail.
In hindsight it's amazing how well the SNS Galaxy and the CG Sov have held up over the years...
And still do... they're great pieces of work. Especially taking into account how early on they were released.
Scotchy and CG were definitely "forward" thinkers.
Along with Khaliban's Connie they were the gold standard 'till DJ and Wiley...just wait 'till CG releases his new Sov
Makes me laugh how quickly we move on from a ship when at the time it was considered to be the perfect reproduction of it.
Case in point the refit connie we had the older ones and Khalibans was considered to perfect version. I bulit one and that was well received, then Wiley bulit his and everyone got excited until MarkyD started one and then I built a new one that was approved by Andy P himself and still we are looking for a refit connie to end all refit connies.
Very rarely does an new mesh come along that is head and shoulders above the rest lately MarkyD's defiant is one such mesh.
But mostly like wiley and DJ's sovs there is not much to choose between the two and they are both excellent examples that stand up well aginst the studio meshes, but again people are already looking towards the next sov that will be even better. I'm sure people know that 100% perfection is unattanable unless your a borg.
Sorry for the off topic tangent just find it ammusing.
I'm actually finding it very annoying LOL. It seems no one will be completely happy with a certain mod these days :SNope, people got to nit-pick it to death, and forget that these guys that do these Ship [fantastic BTW] are doing it in their OWN spare time. And free of Charge, did I mention FREE of Charge.
I'm actually finding it very annoying LOL. It seems no one will be completely happy with a certain mod these days :S
guys please try an remain ontopic to wiley's proto-ambassador...
this ongoing topic can be for another thread...
thx :)
HELL i would build a defiant/galaxy/sov if i was good enough and who knows maybe one day i might be, but me as just one example sit in the TOS as it's the easiest thing to make, but in a couple of years time after growth and trail and errors i wont be good enough, and think....You know I want to try my hand at it!
please try an remain ontopic to wiley's proto-ambassador.....And it's time to go back on topic.
this ongoing topic can be for another thread...
will you be doing a proto-ambassador with a different deflector? something galaxy class-esque or dj's alberta class?I wasn't planning on it, but I could.
I always salute all modders, without you we'd have nothing except standard BC.
The Proto-Ambassador is nearly complete. It has both the Ambassador and the Enterprise-C registries. I'm also texturing the Sona Battleship.
Here is a picture of the Proro-Ambassador ingame: http://trekmodeler.deviantart.com/#/d46x9d7
One word! "Wow!"
Well said.

Like the work on the weapons, especially the torpedoes.Thanks. :) Ever since I made the FC-styled quantum torpedoes for the Proteus, I've been using the same torpedo image. I really like how it looks ingame.

you know wiley, you did such a good job battle-damaging those Connies and that Valkyrie, you should totally do a what-if Yesterday's Enterprise texture for your Proto-ambie.
Check the download section for availability. :DScreenshots look terrific but it's still not showing up on bc files
Screenshots look terrific but it's still not showing up on bc filesAlso refreshing several times.
looks great are we going to get a Season 5 refit as well? Why not? I also plan on doing the Terran Empire, e2, Azati Prime, and possibly other versions if I do texture swapping.
On a serious note will these interface with my NX dock? if not I could release a rescaled one to suit?I plan to have my NX scaled to one ones used by the popular NX Class Mod Pack.
Love it!!
Since you're considering so many variants, why not a version with phaser strips to fit it into the 24th Century? It could be like the Akira's sister ship. :p
Awesome Wiley!
The NX class is one of my favorite designs. I miss Enterprise, I wish the show could have had a full run.
I'm with you Moed. The canceled her just when the show was getting good.
Can't wait to see your take on her Wiley. The NX Pack that we have has been a good bunch of ships to have but they're 5 years old now and can't think of anyone other then you who would do them justice!
Here is my next project along with the Sona ship. This is a rough render, and I am just getting the basic shapes created, then I'll add the smaller details. I don't know what the final poly count would be, because I still have weld some verticies and clean up areas of the mesh. I've been working on this for the last 2 weeks in my free time, so don't expect any large updates soon.
It's brand spankin' new!
Even though this is a cool idea. I feel that if you think about it in a somewhat logical way, the Akira class design IMO was inspired from the NX class design. Or another way of putting it, the Akira was Starfleets R&D teams' tribute to the the NX class.
I'd like to put in my 2 cents and say keep this new project real and on course with "NX" style ships of that era.
would be great to see a DS9-era version of the NX class (with phaser strips, modern nacelles, etc), as completely uncanon and silly as that sounds...
or would that be the Akira class, actually? lol
Wiley, will you be making a texture from scratch?Yep, as close to the renders as possible.
Yep, as close to the renders as possible.
I don't plan on making any DS9 versions of the NX- it wouldn't feel right. Also, before the design history between the Akira/NX goes out of hand- that should be put in another thread.
Well the NX Pack Texture was just taken from Official model renders and edited,
Wiley, will you be making a texture from scratch?
LOL,,,Exactly, bend the pylons upwards and,,, Ta-Da! :D
I recall that it was the accusation at the time, they ripped off the Akira design. i have to admit, it disappointed me personally when it first leaked out, It didn't strike me as a good design for an Enterprise, but I have begun to like it.
Looking great on the NX, she's off to a good start.
actually no, I'm pretty sure Mark did them from scratch on the NX pack. It was C2X's that was ripped from promo pics.
Good start there Wiley, looking forward to seeing your take on the textures ;)
Actually Yes, Mark and LC used the renders of the NX for the textures ;)
Long time no update.....2 months. School is beginning to wind down, and I'm working on some awesome ships, one in particular in my sig. :D I'll update with pictures when the time is available.

Can't wait Wiley!!!!! Youre becoming a modern day P81 if i dare say :funny
I think this could rival DJ's.
Thanks guys. I plan on texturing this in the Generations hull scheme using the Christies Auction pictures as reference. That's going to be fun.
Darn, same here. lolIt's actually much harder than it looks. (no- that not what she said)
I know you don't like ref pic in your thread a link for the paint job....and that's the reason I said NO REFERENCE PICS PLEASE- I even said please. :roll I don't want to be rude, and I know you had good intentions. I already have all of those pics. Thanks anyway.
Is this based off the 4 or 6 foot galaxy??My mesh was based from Tobias Richter's Enterprise-D. His was based from the Whitefire schematics and elements from the 6-foot model.
Will you have multiple registarys?Possibly, but I see too many people making horrible registries with Times New Roman. :funny
Possibly, but I see too many people making horrible registries with Times New Roman. :funny
Surely not, needs to comic sans for me :P. Good work so far.
LMFAO!
And to think there are tutorials around about making registries :angel :P
Agreed I can't wait to add her to my install!!!Thanks guys! And let the texturing begin! :D
Agreed I can't wait to add her to my install!!!
About smoothing, how many segments does the saucer have? Perhaps smooth it a bit more? (edges)The saucer uses about 60 segments around (I don't know the exact amount). Smoothing only affects the surface, and not the poly count. If I were to add more polys to the saucer, it would have to be completely rebuilt.
School has resumed again (the final grind before Christmas vacation), so i won't be posting things for about 2 weeks. I'll continue the project when school is done.
NAOOOOO but the precious... she has to be complete. She will be complete, when school is done. I plan to have the ship done for Christmas release. That will be a nice challenge.
And will be there any other types except the normal Galaxy? I mean normal design, Venture or other types of refits?I'll decide that when I'm done with the normal Galaxy version.
Whats the poly count on her?Just short of 19k poly. The textures so far are 3 2048px resolution, and probably one 1024px texture for the nacelles. I'll see how much I can squeeze into my textures.
r u going to make the venture modelIn the future most likely.
BTW, would it be possible for you to release the fix on the text for the starfleet banner on the secondary hulls of your Sovereign's?It's possible, but I'm not planning on fixing that for Christmas.
Certainly is a nice piece of work. Love the deflector.
:yeahthat:
I look forward to downloading this and hopefully not letting Deanna take the helm :D
(EDIT: That's a compliment, Bridge Commander is like the evolution of holding a toy ship in your hand and making explosion noises.)Or building a 3D model, and flying it around, making noises.
Tedious but worthwhile. I try to make the ship as faithful to the original references as possible. I myself can't wait to get it ingame.
Then hurry up and finish it! CHOP CHOPGood things come to those who wait. :)
Good things come to those who wait. :)
Ho wow! She lights up beautifully.
I was just wondering if you might try to recreate that or is it not worth it at this point? That's an extra detail I'm not adding that only a few fans would notice.
Beta testing this would give me a reason to re-install my BC.
Brilliant job, Wiley. A damn well done Galaxy class. Cookie incoming.Thanks. I forgot to mention that it is very easy to make swiss cheese out of the ship.
hope im on that list of testers buddy...You are. :D
I would think your super awesome Cardassian Galor you've been working on would give you reason to re-install your BC :D
Now you've got me wondering where this texturing foul-up is...Stop wondering and just enjoy the model. :D Picky, picky, picky.
I have 2 candidates:Neither.
Stop wondering and just enjoy the model. :D Picky, picky, picky.
Neither.
Got a question; how did you do the necelle pylon registries?I don't exactly know what you mean- do you mean:
Stop wondering and just enjoy the model. :D Picky, picky, picky.
Neither.
I am refering to the slant. Both your port and starboard pylon registries slant forward but I was forct to slant the port side aft on my retexture. How did you do it?In Photoshop after you have typed in your text, go to Edit>Transform>Skew.
I'm back to working on the Sona battleship. I'm liking how the textures are turning out.
Very nice, What the poly count on that Beasty :dance
Is there a plan for also modeling Ruafo's ship?I do have references for Ruafo's ship, and I may build that ship in the future.
It's good to see another well polished alien design role off the self.I agree. :D
It will be oh-so-much fun to blow it up.. Riker manouver, engage! :funnyThey do blow up good. I made sure of that.
Mr. Coyote is the Battle ship the right size to the Sovereign?I matched up the size of the battleship exactly to the ship scale diagrams for the movie. So, yes it is the size of the Sovereign, and it is big.
Textures and speculars are finished. It's all on a single 2048 px resolution texture. Polygon count is 18.8k.You're going to be doing the J?
I really like how the textures turned out. They were simple and looked futuristic. I may use a similar color scheme for my later revamp of my Enterprise-J.
You're going to be doing the J?I've done it before, and I can redo it again. My modeling and texturing skills have changed since December 2008.
I've done it before, and I can redo it again. My modeling and texturing skills have changed since December 2008.
It's not the size, it is how you use itBa-da-chssshhh.
I'm currently working on the hardpoint and added a new torpedo that uses the sound effect from ST: Insurrection.Super Model also those wing sections must be huge! :D
I've also taken a screenshot showing the updated ship scale of the Sona battleship.
hmm what about that weapon the Excal used in BC? the P-something wave? The Phalantium Wave. I'll look into that.
The Phalantium Wave. I'll look into that.I got it installed and working, but the effect was not what I was expecting. I'm not going to use it.
Count me in pls wileyCheck your PMs.
oh and can i be rude but finish ur nx plsI plan this year to work on the NX.
Any way to just make a black hole in BC? I mean have the weapon trip one on for a short amount of time?Possibly, but I think most weapon ideas have been tested and BC is very limited. The BC version of the Son'a Battleship has phasers, torpedoes, and pulse weapons to make a powerful foe.

I just wonder how well they will do against the Sovereign Class. In the film they had the advantage because they were fitted for the Briar Patch and the Enterprise was not. So how do you think they will do against the Sovereign when she's not handicapped?
wiley, you are the modder's god. that thing is a beauty. Just testet and destroyed your sovie. Thanks for the cookie. In the end, I was happy with the hardpoint.
I really like the weapons placement and their power
So close quarters combat with two battleships wouldn't favor Sovereign but maybe at medium range Sovereign has the edge...especially with the quantums...which I don't understand why they didn't use instead of the....joystick...
In my pictures, her deflector is almost always very bright (deep space map), this counts for the entire ship actually, she's extremely bright. Is this normal?Do you have an issue with the specular maps?
I take some pictures later of her, any good maps where i can test her?CJones 7 System, Serris 3?
Here's a work-in-progress that I promised DJ I'll finish up. It's DJ's mesh, I'm just texturing it.
Do you have an issue with the specular maps?

This is the most intriguing TMPish design I've ever seen. Might I suggest lighter blue (like the details on JJprise) and more silvery hull color to it ? she slooks like straight from JJverse, a proper refit to JJprise, even at present textures state she's awesome !The mesh was actually created before Star Trek (2009). I've waited since 2008 for my skills to meet the level of DJ's.

are those scoops or some type of weapon? Those intakes on the nacelles are ramscoops.
Those are actually large vacuum devices for use if the ship ever happens to be near Planet Druidia. Something about Starfleet owing a favor to some "Dark Helmet" guy.

Does she go faster than light speed?
Also about the skin itself, the blue seems a bit too prominent IMO, but if it looks good ingame then I'm cool with it.
I spy with my little eye, an excelsior-type nacelle. A very nice looking excelsior-type nacelle.
Didn't you already made few times excelsior packs?Yes, but I wasn't quite happy with it. Though the textures/colors were really close to what I wanted, some bits of the mesh and mapping of a few areas do not meet with my current "quality standards." Hopefully, this will be my final version of the Excelsior.
Good, but beware of the people here on the forum with the ms dos computers (not being able to run 2048pixels)..
Looking forward to this one.
any change of the centaur class starship being in this pack???Very good chance.
So i don't think the modder needs to "lower" his work just to make sure that a few people are able to run it.I'll also include lower-res textures.
Very good chance.
One thing that always bugged me was no Curry type. Your beautiful pylons and nacelles from your Miranda class would look well with your ExcelsiorGood idea. I'll take my time and even throw in the Wolf 359 4-nacelled Proto-Excelsior
I'm not trying to be the bad guy here (again) but its like jb says.. It is 2012, every low budget computer/laptop you buy is able to this with ease. So i don't think the modder needs to "lower" his work just to make sure that a few people are able to run it.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few
Second of all, it's courteous for a modder to include lower res stuff so we can ALL play.
Good idea. I'll take my time and even throw in the Wolf 359 4-nacelled Proto-Excelsior
Will it overwrite the first pack? It's too early to tell.
Now all we need (and desperately) is a new version of the Scimitar.I call DIBS. :funny
.....when you said this back on Baz1701's thread, were you joking or serious? Because, after all, we really do need a Scimitar. What do you think?
This is just a nerdy question but rewatched DS9/Dogs of War recently and could swear there was an Excelsior in there that had those circular arrays like Galaxy (sorry, not too au fait with the techtalk) but all the Excelsior models I've got or seen only have those yellow bank thingies. Just asking re: WC's new models :D

Splendid news, i have always loved your splendid ships, although i dare ask, will the excelsiors be correctly scaled this time as in the Excelsior supposed to be 467 metres long vs a galor being 378.88 metres? No excelsior pack has scaled it correctly.
Enuff debate, moar Excelsior!!!Ok.
Ok.
http://trekmodeler.deviantart.com/#/d4mgwzr
Actually, A new physical model was built for Flashback (as the original STIII model had been irreparably damaged when they modified it for Generations) This model was built in a slightly smaller scale and featured more defined hull details than the original. The CGI model was built a year later for the DS9 episode Favor the Bold.
but, you're right, it still never featured phaser strips.
What's up with the Phoenicia, Wiley? It's slow going, but it will be done. It takes a little more time to make textures from scratch without references.
Will she come with blanks for custom registries?I plan on making it with ID map swapping, so yes.
[takei]ohh.....my......[/takei]
Care to tell us HOW you did that? the specs are Fracking sexy as sin!
I'm assuming that the specs were done in color instead of greys and affect the spec color.:yeahthat:
The final polycount is 25.4k.
Is it just me, or does that picture look like dianna has taken the helm and got yet another enterprise into a fender bender.Bet its the Pic, cant see Wiley missing that, on the saucer.
Aside from that, nice work, it looks awesome. Easly one of the best enterprise textures I've seen.
Bet its the Pic, cant see Wiley missing that, on the saucer. It's just a weird lighting error.
(you know, while I was typing that last part, I know that someone will think about an over 9000 joke about the number of connies on BCfiles. Aw well, you can't have enough extremely well done connies, or any other ship for that matter)
Between yours and furswift's, I'm going to have to say yours looks better. Now don't take this as a bash at furswift, his looks top notch. I just like your color pallet better for some reason, although I can't quite put my finger on why I like yours more. :idk: Personal opinion I guess.
Besides, what's another 2 or more connies on BCfiles anyway?
(you know, while I was typing that last part, I know that someone will think about an over 9000 joke about the number of connies on BCfiles. Aw well, you can't have enough extremely well done connies, or any other ship for that matter)
Will she damage okay?I have no way of knowing- it's not ingame yet. It will most likely damage well since 95% of the mesh is a single object.
It will most likely damage well since 95% of the mesh is a single object.Impressive. I found those TMP nacelles really tricky to model, let alone get as one single object. :banghead:
Looking sweet!
Outstanding Wiley...
Now if only you can fix the mirror image banner issue with your Sovvie's ;)
:smack: One thing at a time moed :funny
Yes, you're right Shadow... just thinking like a Borg a bit... wanting "perfection" :hithead: :D
If I didn't know better I'd think it was a physical miniatureI can't believe it myself. :eek
and dont forget the impulse glow. I guess it will be yellow/orange?It doesn't glow all the time in TMP, check the movie. Plus, the impulse dome and engine are on the ID map. I can change it whenever I want.
Wiley, you have achieved what ST TMP cgi crew didn't when building cgi Enterprise, you've captured colors and speculars soo perfectly, I could say these are photos of studio model.Time to make some animations....
Well, the impulse engine glows at impulse speeds, she was using thrusters to pull out of the drydock. The impulse drive shut down when the ship hit warp speed. So best thing to do there is to have the impulse engine on at impulse and the warp engines on at warp. I guess? :idk:In TMP, the impulse engines/dome glow when they are activated, and turn off when warp is engaged. In the Director's Edition, the impulse dome is glowing (orangish-red), but the main engine is not (Enterprise parked outside the Voyager 6 island).
In TMP, the impulse engines/dome glow when they are activated, and turn off when warp is engaged. In the Director's Edition, the impulse dome is glowing (orangish-red), but the main engine is not (Enterprise parked outside the Voyager 6 island).
But, the warp engines glow in low powered mode (when the Enterprise arrives at the V'Ger cloud, and when the Enterprise gets attacked).
From TWOK onward, the impulse dome/engines are always on.
I take then that the ship is stopped in these pics and that's why the impulse engines aren't glowing?
I don't think that the scripts work that way. If they did, that'd be cool, but I think it only works for warp speed.
Then why aren't they glowing? Wiley said the glow.
Wiley, I believe the Enterprise was, for some reason, at warp for the rest of the film. That moment when the ship appeared to "exit" warp was actually the ship arriving at the cruising velocity of Warp 7. Weird, makes no sense, but there you go.
That moment when the ship appeared to "exit" warp was actually the ship arriving at the cruising velocity of Warp 7.I realize that.
Well Wiley, I believe that V'Ger was traveling at warp speed, so the Enterprise should be at warp in order to keep up with it. Again, it doesn't really make sense with how warp is portrayed through the rest of the movies and tv shows.
Wiley if people are so concerned why not include an extra Enterprise ID map with the activated impulse engines? But I think she is fine as is!I'll see what I can do.
EDIT: Speaking of inconsistencies, those pics you put up have some really odd ones with the aft windows.

I guess it will be personal preference.
She's gorgeous Wiley, should keep nitpickers quiet for a while :funny
I'm having something of a crisis.
I personally don't care. This is the best ship ever created for BC quite frankly.
Wiley if people are so concerned why not include an extra Enterprise ID map with the activated impulse engines? But I think she is fine as is!
Update on current mods:
Galaxy Class Pack: Enterprise-D, and Venture variants done and ingame. I'm having issues with the ID map swapping, I might just have multiple versions of the same mesh with different registries attached. :( Plus, saucer separation is being implemented if ID map swapping can be fixed.
I love everything but the nacelles... just something about them just feels wrong with me.
oh and hello... *I've been a ghost on the forums...* *YAY LIFE*
I really like the nacelles and the oddity of the secondary hull jutting out like it does. Maybe I'm just weirdI'm trying to introduce some new ship designs, yet keeping within the "canon" Roddenberry ship design rules. Maybe more people will start liking the design once I start texturing it.
Woo 900 cookiez! All your cookies will belong to me. Resistance is futile. :assimilateand cookies are appreciated
There are so many designs in fandom these days that it's hard to push the envelope without stepping on a few toes. This is just enough of a change that it works.
Sambreign Class starship: pronounced "Sam-bree-in"
37 decks tall, new ship design featuring elements from the Excelsior, Proto-Enterprise C, and Sovereign classes. This is a ship design I've been tinkering with for the last month, and it is nowhere near completion. I still have yet to add many details, and a possible saucer separation with custom captain's yacht. Enjoy! :D

The refit coloring is done, along with changing a few alpha channel lights.

Looks like a igh polly Willey! Just one thing claims my attemption: looks like the glows for the impulse engines are a bit exagerated or out of place. ;)
Looks like a igh polly Willey! Just one thing claims my attemption: looks like the glows for the impulse engines are a bit exagerated or out of place.I can easily change the spotlight glows so they are less intense on either side of the main engine.
I can?t see it there but, I believe you can put a torp launcher (or megaphaser) over the top of the "nose" of the sec hull. What is it with people and megaphasers? I'll stick something there.
What is it with people and megaphasers? I'll stick something there.
I'm also compiling a list of "canon-enough" registries for the TMP Constitution Pack.Later tonight, I'll post a list of what I've finished so far.
*Some of the registries are "refits" or rebuilt versions of TOS ships that have been lost or destroyed. The list below is compiled from Ex Astris Scientia, and Memory Alpha. 18 possible registries:
Constitution 1700
Constellation 1017-A*
Defiant 1764-A*
Eagle 956
Endeavour 1895
Enterprise 1701 & 1701-A
Essex 1697
Excalibur 1664
Exeter 1672
Intrepid 1631-A*
Potemkin 1657
Hood 1703
Lexington 1709
Kongo 1710
Republic 1371
Yorktown 1717
Farragut 1647
List is deliberately not in alphabetical order. It is to help me with for what I have yet to make.
When you get to this stage, please remember to make it so none of the above ones that have the same names as other ships (e.g. Endeavour, Defiant, etc.) don't overwrite said shipsNo problem. All of the registries have been created (9 with green coloring, same goes for blue).
Everybody talks about weapons in that spot, I'd love to see an auxiliary craft there but not something like aeroshuttle or captains yacht but something rather like Delta Flyer, something that would serve as a small explorer/scout craft (if Sambreign cannot fit somewhere, smaller unit is sent with science team aboard) ... just an idea ;)
both Sambreign and Connie refit looks gorgeous ! I think we came to that moment when cookies just won't cut it anymore ... we need cakes here :funny
What is it with people and megaphasers? I'll stick something there.
I guess I'm the only one that liked the area above the Sambreign's deflector just the way it was. :idk:
Another update:
1024px textures have been created for the TMP Constitution Pack. PM me if you want to beta test. I want people who have tested my stuff before. I'm looking for about 3 people.
I've fixed the ID map issue with my Galaxy Class. It was a combination of the mesh having issues and some stupid script typing on my part. :banghead:
Regarding your Galaxy class fix, are you talking about a new Galaxy class mod you're working on or the last one you released a while ago? It's basically the same mesh, but I've added some more polies around the saucer, neck and pylons. Plus, it now has ID maps. The Venture variant is also included.
Anyway do I need special permission if I want to play around with in in a 3D rendering program? You will only need to ask permission if you were going to release any modifications/ conversions to my meshes/textures. And always give credit to the original authors.
what kind of ship is this, i mean defined by its purpose, it looks like an awsome design, im just confused as to its role within starfleet.
Hope you do blank textures for her when you finish. I'm also willing to take a stab at texturing her if you like.I'm pretty comfortable in texturing my own ships, but whenever I get to that point, I may consider it.
Are you planning anything like saucer separation for this design?Yes.
I'm pretty comfortable in texturing my own ships, but whenever I get to that point, I may consider it.
Yes.
My only critique, is to possibly make the aft end of the yacht a bit "taller"I'll see what I can do.
Wiley's got it!!!!!!!!:yeahthat: :D
OMFG I may be late to the party but... was this ship ever mentioned to have slipstream? Not mentioned, but I can easily add it.
Not mentioned, but I can easily add it.
Thats a lot of curves!,,,,,,,,,,,,, Very unique looking ship Wiley.
Will she have colored specs like your TMP Enterprise?Probably not. The TMP Enterprise has the most complicated colored specs ever. I'll most likely do something similar to my Enterprise-D.
looks wonderful. :D
though I don't know if its the light... but that neck seems to be missing something.
What is it missing? Aztec or other miscellaneous detail? I can easily change the textures and the specs.
Just...not liking the new neck.I couldn't really tell what people were asking me.
I couldn't really tell what people were asking me.I was reading it as adding maybe some different color to that indented area of the neck with the torpedo tubes, or maybe some light ribbing, like on the Legacy.
Though I rebuilt the neck, not much has been lost. I can simply tweak the geometry of the neck to it reflects something closer to what I had originally built, plus add in some minor ribbing.

Grand windows suggesting staterooms or conference rooms and lounges for diplomatic functions.I have those just above the bridge, but I could put another set in the neck.
I have those just above the bridge, but I could put another set in the neck.
One reason I suggested it was when the ship separates the two sections should still boast the same facilities. Plus can you imagine how impressive the view would be seeing the ship and space stretch out before you! :D
Well, it looks better, but where are the Polaris's fore torpedo launchers now? That was the thing about changing the neck that I didn't much care for. They are "hidden"- actually modeled in an area aft of the deflector dish near the underside of the engineering hull.
And am I the only one seeing 4 shuttlebays? Or is that not what that is above the deflector?Someone mentioned a thru-deck cruiser.
(http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd223/WileyCoyote1701/Meshes/Polaris%20Class/wip18_1_zps585686d4.jpg)I like this blue panoramic window
Moving the windows down one deck did the trick. She is stunning Wiley:yeahthat: :yeahthat: :yeahthat:
Any more screenshots of the Yacht? Awesome ship! Not yet. The yacht is not yet ingame, but the ship is. (see BC screenshot thread)
Love it!! Is this a replacement for the Excelsior? From the fore and aft, it has the rough outline of the Enterprise-B and looks very Excelsior-ish. I also like how the next isn't really a neck in the traditional sense, it's much more integrated into the secondary hull. Take a cookie.
agreed it'd be great to have one as the USS EXCELSIOR NCC 2000-A.
great ship :yay:
Fixed that for you :P
Eh, already got an Excelsior-A, and I think DJ did it proud.Just cause he's not around anymore doesn't mean we should forget his stuff.
What ever happened to dj? did he go to excaliber?
That model and textures look great M8
Ahem. :dontcare: http://bc-central.net/forums/index.php/topic,7951.msg181013.html#msg181013 (http://bc-central.net/forums/index.php/topic,7951.msg181013.html#msg181013)
Anyways Wiley's done a great job on the Polaris, just hope it looks as good in-game :)
How's the Polaris coming, if you don't mind my asking?I just have to add pulse phasers to the yacht, and I think I will be done with the Polaris.
Whats the 411 on the PolarisNo change since last update. I've been busy with work. I've uploaded a few renders of the Polaris on my deviantART page (link in sig).
Yes! That is a great looking Valdore.I would like to personally thank starship for finding me a high poly mesh of the Valdore, created by Adam at the Foundation 3D forums.
Very nice vid mate :D I noticed you used the first version of my Oberth :(I'm so sorry for that, your version 1 still looked good (I know there was a flipped registry). Even ILM makes some mistakes.
I'm so sorry for that, your version 1 still looked good (I know there was a flipped registry). Even ILM makes some mistakes.
i thought there was a bit of a stretch effect on the end of generations... i looked on youtube.I'm still learning.
How's the Valdore coming along? No change since the last two updates. I just not in the mood for doing the Valdore (at this time, but will return to it soon) and I'm not giving up. Since I now have the new model, it is more likely I will rebuild it again.
I'm still learning.
Just as long as he does not bring out a new jjprise anytime soon lol.
Excellent Wiley.
The NX is one of my favorite designs.
And again, I say thanks to you for another wonderful work.
i agree, give baz's time to shine, he's been working real hard on itDon't worry, I have no plans on building the JJprise anytime soon. Most likely I'll be working on the Kelvin fleet again, and maybe a few ships from Into Darkness, the Excelsior, or the Valdore again.
CGI Nebula, dammit!I just need hardpointer, I can export to BC, but I really hate hardpointing. Any takers?
Don't worry, I have no plans on building the JJprise anytime soon. Most likely I'll be working on the Kelvin fleet again, and maybe a few ships from Into Darkness, the Excelsior, or the Valdore again.
There is also a good chance of seeing the NX-Columbia.
But one that has not been given barely any love at all is the Luna class.I'll see about it.
That is one ship that really needs to be done right.
one that has not been given barely any love at all is the Luna class.
That is one ship that really needs to be done right.
are you going with the series version or Doug's earlier version with the bigger windows?Series version.
Do you add lighting effects to hulls like this one to give them an extra luster?I don't exactly know what you mean.
Lighting effects to the diff maps to add a highlight to the features?Lighting effects to the ??? maps to add a (something) to the (what'cha'ma'callit)?
Amazing work Wiley but you missed off two ventral phase cannon ports on the leading edge of the saucer section.I would have gotten to that area eventually, but you spotted it and thanks for spotting it. It's now fixed. There are a lot of small details on the NX-01.
one request for hardpoints. make her have the original weapons as well as the phase cannonsI plan on using the same hardpoints as used in the NX Class Mod Pack.
shouldn't it be rather more bronze-y?
still... looks sturdy enough to resist at least a few disruptor blasts
Now crap that whip on the rest of the Loonatics. It seems like everyone else has their own itinerary.
Alpha channels are done. One of the best ships I have ever done. Enjoy! Most definitely one of the best. Here. Have a cookie.
Wow that looks just like the ctual cgi model! You continue to outdo yourself Wiley! And Doug Drexler says: "Go for the refit!"
That's gorgeous. Though I too was under the impression that she was more of a bronze colour, especially when we saw her next to the NX-02Sometimes it can be hard to tell unless she's next to another ship.
One more thing... I think you should do all the enterprises again. With this skill, they would be divine in nature. EFFING DIVINE.If I were ever to rebuild existing Enterprises, I would rebuild the Enterprise-B (I built a damn good Excelsior a while back), C, and the J. All of the other ones I am happy with.
If I were ever to rebuild existing Enterprises, I would rebuild the Enterprise-B (I built a damn good Excelsior a while back), C, and the J. All of the other ones I am happy with.
I didn't know that you had done a J.Here you go.
This NX is looking great. Looking forward to the refit.
I haven't read all the pages in this thread, but what happened to your STO Enterprise F?I never started an STO Enterprise-F- Farshot is working on it (right now).
*snip
I never started an STO Enterprise-F- Farshot is working on it (right now).
The original NX-class Enterprise design was a spectacular success by most measures. Henry Archer's revolutionary warp 5 engine proved its value as an enabler for deep space operations across a multisector range. Still, postmission analysis after the costly Xindi conflict of 2153 revealed the engine's original matter/antimatter reactor core to be underpowered in combat situations. Starfleet quickly determined that retrofitting the core would be necessary, given the ship's ongoing role in Earth's exploration of deep space and its value in planetary defense. This proved problematic in that installing a larger core in the ship's primary hull would have entailed rebuilding most of the saucer section. Fortunately, Starfleet engineers devised a radical solution: Adding an outboard module specifically designed to house an uprated reactor core and related engineering systems. This engineering module would be designed to occupy the secondary lobe of the ship's subspace field during warp flight. In this way, the existing warp nacelles could be fed by a greatly uprated reactor, while avoiding a time-consuming reconstruction of the primary hull. Additionally, the ship's original main deflector had been found to be inadequate during warp travel through regions of dense interstellar particulates, so a second, larger dish was incorporated into the design. Installation of the new engineering hull was surprisingly straightforward, and the NX-class Enterprise was returned to service after only 180 days in spacedock, resuming its historic mission to boldly go where no man had gone before.
Here you go.

QuoteThe original NX-class Enterprise design was a spectacular success by most measures.
Nothing about the primary hull was altered in any way to save time, hence it has a backup core and deflector.
Dear Tobias Richter,
To quote a recent episode of The Big Bang Theory. "You just got pantsed in the schoolyard four-eyes!" "Go ahead, give him your lunch money!"
That is all.
the difference is this model is below 40k Tobias goes well into the 200-500 rangeThe difference is that Wiley builds his models that low because they're for a game. I'm sure if he wanted, he could totally go all out on these suckers.
Wiley and baz for that mater Rule!
I'm still impatiently waiting on that Nebula tooI plan on having it all ready for beta testing this weekend.

Will the refit have orange phasers or blue phasers? (NX-class ships are seen firing blue phasers on the cover of one of the Romulan War novels.)As of now, the NX-refit is firing reddish phasers- all of the NX ships are using the hardpoints from the existing NX Pack.
Love it, do a refit mirror tooSorry, I'm not doing a mirror NX-refit, since the original NX was destroyed in a Tholian Web.
Any plans for a battle damaged version from azati prime? As much as I would love to do that variant, I'll have to do some serious remapping of the mesh.
Which season is the NX01s hardpoint going to be based on?The NX-01's hardpoint is based off of Season 4.
mabey you better send some bussard hints over to Hobbs. He as already asked me, but I couldn't help him because he doesn't use the same program as me. Plus, I'm not familiar with PaintShop Pro.
He as already asked me, but I couldn't help him because he doesn't use the same program as me. Plus, I'm not familiar with PaintShop Pro.paintshop is simply a more primitive version of photoshop without the extensive photo-tweaking bits (though photo cleanup is decent) as a matter of fact, i ADAPTED your little registry curves trick from way back when to paintshop *grins*
I think I hear a guitar playing....
I friggin hate that song. Someone needs to release the full series with another song plugged in there. The song is fine. How about this instrumental from the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra? Beautiful.

Does the "official" design have the antennae? It has them in the Ships of the Line calendar and on the upcoming model kit.
Add them. Makes for something a little different :):yeahthat:
I'm not a fan of the pointless nacelle antennae. Can't say I'm a fan of the nx refit idea either, but your model would look great with or without them.
I can't see them on this pick from drex files, guessing the calender image you said about is a new one I haven't seen?

New toy! New toy!
Do you still release your work publicly? I'd love to see your latest 3, 4 projects up close and personal.Other than uploading them to Filefront/Gamefront and my website? I don't know what you mean.
Is your Valdore or Odyssey out there yet or are they still WIP?My Valdore is a WIP, and I have never started on an Odessey. FarShot is making good progress with his.
Polaris? Any pics.http://trekmodeler.deviantart.com/art/Polaris-Class-358133241
GREAT ADITION CAN?T FOR WHAT?S AHEAD!!!!   (Hoping for a new version of jjprise / refit from Into darkness and a vengeance   )I wouldn't get your hopes up. Unless we actually get the model from ILM, or at least decent orthos that aren't fan-made, the best JJ-Prise we'll get is Wiley's version..3 was it? And Baz's version...6 I think.

Sorry Wiley for hijacking your thread but this pee'd me off.
That's what I love about this community, it is how quickly work can be discarded for want of a newer version. My latest jjprise has been out a few weeks and already people asking for a newer version really after makes the months of work makes you feel appreciated. I ask myself were is the motivation to finish my vengeance.
Sorry if I sound like a jerk but that is how I feel.

I suggest you give Baz some credit, here, as one of the two best modellers on here (wiley's the other one).
and the CGI Nebula Class is ingame!about bloody time lol j/k :P

The CGI Nebula doesnt have the galaxy impulse engines...I believe Jimmy wanted them there.
I believe Jimmy wanted them there.
if its not to much to ask, would it be possible to have a regular nebula impulse engine variant? While I'm at it, maybe I should build all of the Nebula variants? :roll

Coming down a little hard on Maxloef here guys.
Be careful what you ask for Phoenix, you might actually get more than you bargained for with that on e. :D
The Polaris is ready for beta testing! I need a few people to test it. :DOMG OMG OMG FINALLY!
Me and Wiley were talking on Teamspeak, and between the two of us, we came up with a Dedication Plaque for the Polaris:
The Science Variant Nebula Class is finished (though I may add some minor details to the pod).:dance :yay:

:dance :yay:
this will be awesome to have in the SP mod! :D
Don't we have a Wiley Science one already?nope! the CGI Nebula Class has never been done - in all of BC's history...
no - that model is not the CGI Nebula...
the CGI Nebula is different, basically a kitbash of the Galaxy Class, consisting of all Galaxy Class parts... the most notable difference is the number and rows of windows on the saucer section... if you compare the two models, youll see other differences between the standard Nebula model and the CGI one...
ohhhh, cant wait to DL it so i can see the differencesIf you search on bcfiles, all versions have been done already.
The Nebula Class science variant is textured and ready for export.:yay: :dance

Great work Wiley.No problem. :D
Thanks again!
.just waiting for some blanks for the Galaxy Class as well as a Venture variantThose are coming, along with a Galaxy-X. For the Nebula Classes, I used the modified saucer for the SP mod (rounder, less blocky).
Pretty soon my BC install will be nothing but ships made by you Wiley.the SP mod is mostly Wileys ships :)
The Phoenix is ingame!standing by... :P
You are spoiling us Wiley! What else is new? :funny :yay:
Anyone have that link for the nebula. I looked and looked. All I find are the CR Nebula Packa which include the CGI or Bonchune Refit.
Adam. Ty
Those are coming, along with a Galaxy-X.
i know whats next, :p he's my bitch now i get to tell him what to make   :evil:you sure about that phoenix?
Phoenix presented me a contract, with which I signed with my own blood. :readme:
Plus he was able to get my the Revell JJ-Enterprise kit, which I paid for.
Phoenix presented me a contract, with which I signed with my own blood. :readme:Hm, should I call out the unfairness since I told you you didn't have to do my ship design? :P j/k
Plus he was able to get my the Revell JJ-Enterprise kit, which I paid for.
I WONNA FILM IT! I cant! Its looks sooo crisp and beautiful!
Same here! :dance
Ooooo I see more Klingons! nice! I can't wait :dance
Btw, the wc nebula, is it going to be in the single player pack?Yes they will.
Romulan's or Carddasians next?Or taking a break from BC modding to begin work for the SOTL Calendar.
Fantastic Wiley.
Real Smooth mesh
Wiley, dude, you actually managed to make Negh'var look awesome :) (I never really liked it, but after seeing it here, it's growing on me ;) ) like always, incredible job
SOTL: If you frequent Facebook, and friend me, you will see I have completed a high-res TOS Constitution, and soon will be posting pics of a high-res Enterprise-E  (I know. I'm excited too). I was told that I have until March 2014 for submitting an image.
Yeah speaking of befriending you... I befriended your brother accidentally.
You could always build a logo into your meshes. :pFor a while now I've been adding something similar in the textures for my ships.
I was just told from Doug Drexler that I have until 12/9 for my SOTL submission (same goes for everyone else).Ouch
Time for me to go into construction overtime.
Well, it's now the holiday season and that means Christmas releases! Stay tuned for updates! :santa:
Looks bloody amazing. Better than the actual episode model imho. Great Xmas giftThanks. I also intend on creating an additional variant or two of the Galaxy-X.
SENSOR POD EDITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Depending on how I textured the sensor pod, that may actually work.
It was said that the Pegasus tested systems for the Galaxy class, so this would be a more logical ship to test systems for the Sovereign
Ok guys, I think we are getting a bit off topic here.
Possible variants for the Galaxy-X:
Venture Refit: self explanatory.
Heavy Refit: Everything included but the middle pylon and nacelles.
Science: Everything included, switch out middle nacelle for Nebula weapon's pod. (variant may just include middle pylon and weapon's pod only)
I think that will be it for variants.
The Agt Galaxy Pack is nearly finished. I may need 2 people to test these ships out. :santa:
It looks great! I like the variant too. Didn't the Galaxy-X have a modified deflector as well?Tech wise yes, Visual wise no.
is there any chance at all possible maybe please oh please to also do this exact model as it is but without that stupid 3rd nacelle (and section right under it)?? that would be one badass Galaxy Class starship, i just hate that stupid 3rd nacelle...
...and I thought those things were AWACS...what's SWACS?
basically keep the exact same model as it is with everything as it is seen and has, but delete the stupid 3rd nacelle and the few decks right under it...
(http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd223/WileyCoyote1701/Bridge%20Commander%20pics/WCAGT3.jpg~original) (http://s227.photobucket.com/user/WileyCoyote1701/media/Bridge%20Commander%20pics/WCAGT3.jpg.html)
Somehow, I thought the pics I posted earlier would make everything clear. :idk:
Final Variants of the Galaxy-X:
? All Good Things... Enterprise-D
? Heavy Refit: Everything included without the middle pylon + decking + center nacelle. --Jimmy's variant
? "Science": Everything included, switch out middle nacelle for Nebula weapon's pod. Shuttlebay torpedo launcher removed to make room for weapon's pod launchers.
Somehow, I thought the pics I posted earlier would make everything clear. :idk:
My bad, yes it was AWACS.
Could this be made with an MVAM shuttlebay? Or a model of it with an open bay?
Polaris refit???https://sketchfab.com/models/8a91022fd8854034ae81a6c0e1ffadb3
I forgot about this! I think at this point Wiley is working on other projects.Very true! I've had a busy 2 years, going from job to job trying to find something stable, and moving. Plus some more SOTL stuff.
I might eventually go back and build a 3D Trek ship, but for the time being, I'm going back to what I did before 3D- building plastic kits. Once my current job situation becomes steadier, I fully intend to create youtube/vimeo tutorials and occasional livestream of both 3D and hobby stuff.
Somehow, WileyCoyote returned.

It's time to do a mod of all the characters in the game aged by 23 years. The Bolian gets a beard.
